I´m one of the happy owners of one of this, in Sunburst, which it gives such a beautiful look. From my point of view, this guitar doesn´t mean to be a bit of that one and a bit of the other one... This guitar means to be a Telecaster Custom Fender on its own. That´s it. This guitar it´s for anyone who´s looking for a very versatile Fender tone, who prefers Telecaster style instead of Stratocaster, the other versatile Fender. I was in a band playing Ska, Reggae, Motown and Funk, and tried a bit of jazzy stuff, and it´s just amazing how my Tele Custom sounded perfect on any of that, and how it cuts through the mix. Not to mention its classic uses for Rock´n´roll or classic Rock. Everyone has its own point of view... me, I can only say that this Telecaster Custom 70´s is great in almost unlimited musical genres. The guitar itself already offers an impressive array of sounds with its three pickup configurations together with independent tone and volume for each pickup. The combinations are practically limitless. Is up to the user to know how to get the most of it, either using clean sounds, or adding pedals, and using different amplifier Eq settings. Just be creative.

I had a MIM Tele Custom but sold it because I found the humbucker nearly useless. Any decrease in tone made it sound too muddy. But I’m a Tele player. So I bought a reissue Deluxe (with two of the same WRHBs... 🧐). I know. Double the problem. What was I thinking? Well, that was before I knew what the problem was, and it was those ‘fake’ WRHBs. Recently installed the 2020 Fender reissue CuNiFe pups and now... Awesomeness! B-side is right though, these pickups turn what looks like a Telecaster into a completely different machine. It’s really its own thing. Cheers for the review.

Hi ,I bought one the same as shown,I love it,it sits well with the guitars I own, fender strats, gibson les paul standard, so I feel I have a variety of sounds, but I am very pleased with build, sound, and quality of the guitar, good demo.

Nice review. I love playing jazz Teles and wonder what this humbucker would be like for that. Never really thought about the connection with the rise in popularity of the Les Paul.

Thanks for the kind words. It is a great guitar maybe not my first choice for a jazz option ;)

Great review. I own one of these in sunburst. My buddy who swears by Gibson and Gibson only even likes the guitar. I love the versatility I get out of it.

Nice review. I really appreciated the honesty of your review. Not all guitars, even really good ones, are "right" for all players. I am a "Tele" guy and love the traditional single coil sound and feel of my telecaster, but I am looking for some different tonal options. This might be the new telecaster I was looking for, versus the 70's Vintera Thinline with two humbuckers. This one seems closer to the sound I had envisioned. Thanks for the review, it was really timely.

Hi Ed! Thanks for chiming in and I’m glad the review was helpful. I have a 2 humbucker player Telecaster that is getting ready for a review and I can definitely say that if you are a Tele Guy but want something a little different, the 2 humbucker is probably not for you. The humbucker in the neck gives some great variety but the humbucker in the bridge is just a different animal. Hope you had a chance to subscribe and we can chat in upcoming videos!

I love a tele bridge pick up, but I also think if I want a guitar with a humbucker I also want that in the bridge position as well.
I think this is cool but I think Id be better off with a standard tele and a HH tele of some kind.

I love these guitars. I also love girls with a big ass, but I'd sooner jam like fuck with a Tele Custom. But yeah, a big ass is a close second...

This tele sounds fantastic. Were the 70s Fender guitars really as bad as everyone makes them out to be?

I don't believe it because they sometimes still use the same damn specs! Lol 70s vintage stuff is less valued tho

They were hit and miss. In my experience the good one are great and the bad ones are rough. Probably not as bad as the internet makes them out to be but definitely some QC issues ;)

@@bsideguitar yea I agree most definitely. My great grandfather has a 78' Gibson "the" Paul, and that guitar is the second best I've ever played, next to his 61' es-355 tdsv. I always thought the huge xj frets would be the best for feel, but to my surprise, it was those extremely thin frets that Gibson used in the 60s and 70s that were only as thick as a business card. They feel so close and low to the fretboard. Excellent guitars. Most of the time, the CBS and norlin era guitars are incredible guitars. Like you said some of them are hit and miss, but usually as I've seen on reverb, their problems will be disclosed.

I have a '76 Telecaster Custom and it is amazing, it just plays and sounds great ! I had also tried a '73 Custom a couple of years ago that was wonderful ! I just wish they had a nitro lacquer instead of a poly finish (I think they changed it to nitro on the American Originals which is a smart move !). That being said, I have tried several 70's Strat that were not a joy to play ...

Odd repetitive comments about the downside of the vintage accessories, without explaining what the downsides are! "Deal with?" ugh!

Always found these 70 telecasters to sound thin compared to the classic ones.
