Awesome! Clean work. Idea: grind down to bare metal in lid groove and top edge of box, replace the rubber gasket with a braided metal stove gasket, and your kit is EMP protected. 👍
That would be on an individual case by case basis, as everyone would inevitably want different features. If they have the money to shell out for design time, I'd be more than happy to design a rig just for them.
I may offer the printed parts for sale at some point. If anything changes, I will update the channel with the appropriate information. Thanks for watching.
Looks great. I'm working on a similar concept for my base station minus 3d printing. I went the sheet metal route mostly because I already had the tools to work with it and its durable. I respect the amount of engineering this takes now lol.
I suppose you could if you wanted to. I wouldn't prefer it for this setup because there needs to be ventilation for heat buildup when transmitting. Either by a fan or open-air exhaust.
Some say in order to get the best results from these type of cans, it's possible to replace the rubber gasket with a conductive one and grind down the paint around the top rim and under the gasket on the lid to get full metal on metal contact resulting in the steel enclosure absorbing a majority of the RF.
Very nice work. You should sell the 3d printed piece

Well done mate, nice work!
I would definitely purchase the insert if you offered it for sale
This is probably the best setup I've seen yet.👍
Love this thing. Keeping track in case you decide to share your STL's.
The file pack along with detail photos and a parts list is available for purchase. Send me an email @ prephubgear@gmail.com.
Brilliant! You really, really should go into business designing these 3d systems and sell them as kits.

That one would work for me just the way you have it.@PrepHubGear
Dude that is Awesome !! Are you gonna sell the 3d parts and offer build list ?

Very cool. That design must of taken a while to get right haha!
@@PrepHubGear I'll pay for the STL file man, that's EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Hope to hear you on the air. KJ5FUL, 73.

That's awesome. Good luck on your project. It's a lot of work, but the end result will be worth it.
Do you have a video where you showed how you made this , i would love something like this , and do you know what it cost you to make it?
I don't have an assembly video. I think it cost a few hundred. I went kinda premium on parts.
Well done.
Thank you ❤
Love it, could you share the stl file

Really nice ! Well done.
congratulations , great idea and work
This is awesome and very professional. I would love to download or purchase the files. Well done
Nice rig!
Great setup! How did you get the plans for the 3d printing? Looks hard to make. Only thing I would add is a 4 port Andersons.
I designed all of the 3D-printed pieces myself using TinkerCad and a LOT of measuring.
Great design, if you decide to share the stl files, I would be happy to pay for them
An amazing setup!
outstanding !!!
Awesome, work. By far one of the best ammo can communicate kit ive seen on RUclips. What size battery? How are you charging the battery?
12Ah battery - I can charge via Solar or an AC outlet via the 12v DC jack.
Hoping you share the STLs I have a very similar project I'm getting parts for. Same radio!

well done
Nice work 🇺🇸
Where did you get the plastic inserts
I designed and 3D printed them.
Could you stuff a small mobile HF radio next to the vhf so you have more frequencies? JohnBoyUtah KJ7TBR

looks nice, how close to emp proof you think it is?

Do you do commissioned work for as a special ordered unit?
Do I build radio kits, you mean? Not at this time.
Are the 3d print files on the internet?

Sweet ride dude 🤙🏽 73
Hi, can you share the STL files? I'm working on my own radio-in-a-can and hoping to draw some insight from your designs. Thank you!

Nice!
Any plans to sell the STL files?
