What Ginger and Miso does to this Tofu? SUPER yummy and EASY!!

- This ginger miso tofu is vegan, delicious, flavorful, and easy to make. The sauce is made from simply sautéing ginger until aromatic, then season with instant kombu dashi, light soy sauce, mirin and miso.

Ingredients
2 lbs of tofu drained
30 g ginger sliced
4 stalks of scallions sliced into 2-inch long
2 cups of hot water plus more for slurry
½ tablespoons white miso see note
1 packet [10g] vegan kombu dashi powder (see note)
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
2 tablespoons of mirin
2 teaspoons cornstarch
cooking oil
sesame oil
Notes
If another type of miso or kombu dashi is used, please taste test before adding tofu to avoid an overly salty dish.
Skip the instant kombu powder if homemade kombu dashi stock is used

Oven Bake is just same as Air Fryer for those without airfryer. Just need to test the temperature and monitor. As always, I appreciate Miss Woon for sharing so many heath recipe.

Beautifully shot and looks really really good. How would you recommend to prepare the tofu if I don't have an air fryer?
Pat it dry with a towel to remove as much moisture as you can , brush over a little bit of oil on the tofu and the pan as well. Bake. I can't tell you the exact temperatures or time but I might keep it at 200C for 10 minutes, flip the tofu and keep them for another 10 minutes....and keep a very close eye on it.

I am not sure why but I tried this recipe and mine tatsed abit bland. Wonder if I didn't add enough miso ?
Wow this looks delicious - and so simple! My favourite kind of food. Although I have one question, can another ingredient be substituted for mirin? I have shaoxing wine vinegar, black rice vinegar, white wine vinegar, red wine vinegar and apple cider vinegar - will any of these work as a replacement in an emergency? Thank you! :)
Mirin is sweet, so I would add some sweetener to balance out the saltiness. :)

Hey SriKrishnaKanth, you can try veggie broth. I do highly recommend the kombu dashi if you can find some or make some at home. :)

It's already vegan. a vegan recipe and the entire channel is vegan. The description box has a link to a recipe for Vegan kombu dashi which uses only kombu (kelp), Shiitake mushrooms and water.

Hey Mélissa, you can use broth if you can't kombu dashi. Zenovia is right, I did share the vegan dashi there or you can use homemade kombu dashi from my ramen recipe. :)
