- an unreleased song about Claudine Longet. At the age of 19 Claudine met Andy Williams while in the follies and married him, although she was 14 years younger. She had three children with Williams, and in the mid sixties pursued an acting and singing career. She met Olympic skier Vladimir "Spider" Sabich while at a celebrity ski tournament in Bear Valley in 1972. By 1975 she and her children had moved into Sabich's stone and log chalet in the Starwood section of Aspen, Colorado. Things went well between the two for nearly a year until the relationship started to deteriorate and Sabich asked that she leave the premises by April 1, 1976. On March 21, 1976 Sabich was shot dead on his bathroom floor with a .22 caliber pistol. Longet was responsible for what her lawyers described as an "accident". She said that Sabich had been showing her how to use the gun when it went off. Ballistics experts at the trial testified that the safety catch was defective on the gun. He was killed by a single bullet (the only inaccuracy in the song is the reference to three shots) to the abdomen and bled to death on the way to the hospital. He was 31 years old. On January 14, 1977 she was convicted of negligent homicide and spent 30 days in the Pitkin County Jail. Claudine was granted family rights during the week which meant that she only served time on the weekends. She went on to marry her defense attorney and continues to live in Aspen.

This number burns the house down. "Pistol whipped me once or twice, never tried to take my life......" Immortal Stones.
😂😅 😮😢
I just discovered this song "Claudine" by The Rolling Stones, after reading about the death of Andy Williams (RIP). Evidently this song wasn't released until a decade after it was recorded. Got to love the Stones. And this is a damn good rocker too! Love it. Thx for posting this jewel.
It's a bonus cut on the Deluxe CD of Some Girls.
I can't emphasize this enough: When you tell your girlfriend, who has kids, to leave you have to luck up the guns.
My customer told me about this song 🎵 with my name in it! I was named after her. My dad liked her lol 😆 I didn't know she was a bad girl. Cool jam! 😎
This song is so well written. Never heard it before. Also love Mick's voice here--he says it like it is!! She did get away with murder. Even if it was an accident (very unlikely) any responsible adult should know better than to point a gun at anyone. Even when you're "being shown how to clean it" like she claimed. That's the first thing my father taught me about gun safety.
I presume your father did not teach you about gun safety while he was shaving!
THE PUBLIC WOULD HAVE RIOTED IF SHE WAS SNUFFED. THE JUDGE'S HOUSE WOULD HAVE BEEN BURNED DOWN. ANDY NEW.
July 17, 2021 was the first time I ever heard this. Lol unbelievable!! Rock and roll!!
I discovered this song after watching her in the Blake Edwards / Peter Sellers film "The Party".
Brilliant film! Great Stones track!
I was named after Claudine Longet. This is awesome.
And you are also truly awesome young lady! Keep up your buoyant spirit!
+thinchrisful FU totally rude to say to this person. That awful tragedy was long ago sooooo, let it go.
thinchrisful the point is you don't say that to someone just because they have the same name, it's still sarcastic That is all I am saying and YES it was a tragic event that happened decades ago
Claudine Caro YES I think the name Claudine is really pretty too and this lady Ms. Longet in her time esp. the 60's was a very very pretty dancer, actress singer
thinchrisful I think the name is unique and classy. Also when I hear it pronounced in French, it's very very pretty IMO
I love Micks voice fell in love with his voice before I had ever seen him just heard him on the radio it was a few years gone by before I ever saw him , I fell hard believe me that was 1972 .
What I love about Mick is how he doesn't take any of it seriously. He is the master of the absurd.
My parents used to talk about this when I was a little girl. Said that, although Andy Williams was furious, he didn't want the mother of his children to do hard time, that she wouldn't survive it, so he asked Ethel Kennedy to bring pressure to bear - don't know how. I didn't know the Stones had done a song about it.
I recall her name becoming a joke afterward. She had a knack for attaching herself to successful men. Who knows if it was accidental or murder. Only she knows.
Another Stones song meant to be played LOUD! If the neighbors complain, tell 'em accidents will happen...
found this looking up Claudine on wiki---was remembering the SNL skit from 1976 they did about her, showing downhill skiers that fall and adding a gunshot sound at the fall. hysterically funny. wiki says it was called the "Claudine Longet Invitational Ski Championship" I remembered it as the "Spider Sabich Ski Shoot" my memory is odd that way.
sooo funny!
Mick Jagger in den 60ern - und ich bekomme noch heute Gänshaut!
Thanks for posting this nearly unknowen song!
Hell of a tale told through song...
Mick with a beard!
ces jeunes "rolling stones" sont vraiment formidables. Je leur prédis une longue carrière
T'as raison! C pas comme des autres
Ils sont formidables!
You're not wrong! Still banging out number one albums, there will never be another like them.
The two comments said that they are unic, learn french better.
I always wondered what this song sounded like. Now I know. Love it! Thanks so much.
Omg! Should have been on the "Some Girls" Album fo shore!!!😅
She's been married to her defence attorney ever since. I wouldn't leave her either. Ya know, just in case...
HaHa....better safe than sorry....or dead.
Is he still alive?
@@bobmoxie5570yup, apparently they finally left Aspen and moved to Hawaii
Was completely taken, so much so, as to have been infatuated, with Claudine's stunning good looks, before I was even in junior high/middle school. Explain that to me. She was beyond fine.
jamais entendu ce titre fans depuis 60 ans bravo
Thanks for posting this.
Excellent song ! It really rocks !
Claudine starred in the Peter Sellers movie" The Party". Saw it late one night all stoned when i was in 'high' school, laughed so hard i passed out for a bit.
Good song. Artistically, I think Jagger nails the insane assertiveness of "Claudine".
Yeah,MICK NAILS IT,DEFINITELY, Walter B.Memphis. 😛☠💥🎸💯
Great song and video...
Justice for the rich and famous is not the same justice which we po' folk "enjoy."
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail (again)
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail (again)
She only does it at weekends
Claudine
Oh, Claudine
Now only Spider knows for sure
But he ain't talkin' about it any more
Is he, Claudine?
There's blood in the chalet
And blood in the snow
(She) washed her hands of the whole damn show
The best thing you could do, Claudine
Shot him once right through the head
Shot him twice right through the chest
The judge says (ruled) it was an accident
Claudine
Accidents will happen
(In the best homes)
And Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's…
Thank you 😊
The Stones in Texas in the early Seventies, promoting their "Some Girls" album ... great stuff, and among their best ever!
1978
Record company refused to release it on Emotional Rescue because they were afraid they'd be sued.
Well she did marry her defense attorney, so you never know.
She is a killer, poor spider 😔
Yes 😢rip Spider ...
Those that bought the deluxe edition of the 2011 Some Girls reissue got a secret album with 12 songs.
I remember Claudine Longet single ‘Summer Love’ a soft breezy tune when the Moon River man was alive.
Frickin great!
This song is just amazing !.. T4P !
Claudine was also allowed to decorate her cell - was in all the papers back then. But then Aspen has a history of letting rich criminals do whatever they want.
like a "sanctuary" city...
And friends sent in restaurant meals.
One of my favs
Bad boys of rock doing what they do best.
Without Brian. Sad.
Happy Birthday today(January 29) to Claudine Longet. Cheers!
AWESOME
This is a GREAT song! Why they never released is as a single?
This song sounds like the original Stones sounds from the 60s.
America's "Monaco in the Alps" is Pilkin County. Aspen is county seat = 4th highest per capita income of any county in USA, but only 15,000 people.
En memoria de Vladimir "Spider" Sabich, asesinado por Claudine Longet.
Das sind einfach die Stones vielseitig gut und Umschlag bar
Allegedly, they wrote this song to get back at her for her version of "Let's Spend the Night Together"!
Well. She does have a way of whisper singing her way through other people's songs.
That is a great version of Lets Spend the Night Together. The weird country hybrid zylaphone/synthesizer that makes this version bounce along is out there in a great way.
stones rule man..
And I thought I knew every song ever done by them
Well, things worked out well for the defense attorney.
Funny how the don’t seem to mention the guy she killed but it’s clearly the point. Great song.
"Now only Spider knows for sure, and he ain't talking bout it anymore..is it Claudine?"
@
I didn’t catch that. Good pick up. I actually ran into her in aspen that summer. The place got really quiet.
If he had told her to get off the property, then why would he later be showing her how to use a firearm? Methinks that something was rotten in Aspen.
Well said, with a sense of humour, no less! :)
Nah. And my client was just carrying a gun into the bank so he could place it in a safe deposit box.
very good
I like the slow version more. It has more of a sneer about it.
Charlie’s drumming is hot on this..brushes too !!!
The song was around in the 1970s when it happened. Cease and desist orders...
Jagger at one time (back then) had a house in Aspen.
I have been alcohol and illegal drug free coming up on ten years in Oct.
Have you relapsed yet?
Greg Carr ^^^ Assholes above ^^^ Congratulations and best wishes.
fantastic news!!!!
Great! Keep positive!
Go on, just a little taste
I used to hang out with this guy named arnold,he used to date a dingbat named claudine,me and him used to play this song in front of her all the time and it would piss her off
Lady Miss Clawdy.
Oh my
In my very early childhood (
In 1976, Colorado was a common law marriage state! Had she sued, she would have gotten Spidermans chalet and half his royalties!!! What a fool!
This is easily the best Rolling Stones song
I clicked this from Maksim Mrivka's Claudine just to see what its like. I found this an assault on my senses.
guess you dont understand rock n roll
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again, Claudine
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
She only does it at weekends
Claudine
Now only Spider knows for sure
But he ain't talkin' about it any more
Isn't, Claudine?
There's blood in the chalet
And blood in the snow
She washed her hands of the whole damn show
Claudine
She shot him once right through the head
She shot him twice right through the chest
The judge says ruled it was an accident Claudine
Accidents will happen
And Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again, Claudine
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again, Claudine
Hey go baby
Go baby
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again, Claudine
Oh Claudine
Oh Claudine
Oh Claudine
Now I threaten my wife with a gun
But I always leave the safety on
I recommend it Claudine
Yea she pistol whipped me once or twice
But she never tried to take my life
What do you think about that
Claudine
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
She only does it at weekends Claudine
Oh Claudine
Oh Claudine
Oh Claudine
What about the children, Claudine?
Poor, poor children
You're prettiest girl I ever seen
Only see you on the movie screen
Hope you don't try to make a sacrifice of me Claudine
Don't get
Don't get too trigger happy with me Claudine
Itchy fingers
Yeah Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again Claudine
Yeah Claudine's back in jail again
Claudine's back in jail again Claudine
Uh uh Claudine
Poor, poor, poor Claudine
The Rolling Stones meet Mojo Nixon.
Jagger's leering audibly.
interesting ... first time heard
Released on bootleg by "Dead Spider" records. Someone had a dark sense of humor.
Where can we find one?
Stones should publish this song! Just change Spider to Ryder or something .......
First time I have ever heard this song . that I can remember.i think I was drunk and horney when I did.cause it feels like I've been there.
Aaahhhh... Some Girls...!
LAWDY MISS CLAWDY
I don't think that Jagger would appreciated a singer giving a personnal version about L'Wren suicide.
@mrstimhoward2nd : this song was intended for the "Emotional Rescue" album, so it was recorded in 1979.
GO STU GO!!!
Did the Stones know Ms Longet? If she was married to Andy Williams, one would think that she moved in different circles than Mick and Keith.
Not really. This was post Williams. She was living with Spider Sabich, her victim, a young, hip, pro skier, at the time. Exactly the avant garde crowd the Stones would have been hanging with in the 70s.
It's no possibile to play with firearms! Hey out jails, Claudine!
✌️❤️🎶
Accurate....
Never read what I'm going to conjecture, but it may be that Claudine shunned Mick's advances at sometime, and the song is pay back.
Nah. Likely Jagger was friends with Spider Sabich, her victim. Jagger was also known for dumping woman he was involved with when it was time to move on to someone younger and prettier. So he definitely had a vested interest in such exes not getting away with gunning you down for it. What if Bianca or Jerry had taken umbrage in him leaving them and pumped *him* full of lead and gotten away with it? Can't have that. ;-)
@@lokisgodhi Haha.
Un big kiss a un amour inaccessible ?
I can't make out the lyrics he's singing!
@MaceMn how much did you get for it?
01:03ss Santa Claus is already here !
She got away with murder.
She didn't kill him on purpose.
@@leeccdoo It's extremely obvious that she did.
For once, here Jagger fall in first degree lyrics about a case of murder wich have been judge, a person don't have to substitude for justice and he wasn't there, strange ???
What year was this recorded?
1980
🎩👍
Hey
@Ninjadelusion Indeed not.
@TheSpinalorockeur
As Ned Kelly perhaps?
@jsilence418 You are correct but the world has forgotten him because it did not loose much.
@JoachimderZweite And she is remembered as a bad memory, an example of priviledge and bad or no character.
Are you as beautiful as Claudine, Mace? :-)
SQUARE
Oh my, yikes, Claudine’s back in jail… oh well , “ Accidents will happen”
Andy Williams picked her up on the side of the road and gave her the Hollywood lifestyle. Hes lucky she didnt off him -- the crazy kook. By the way, cool bluesy tune...
She had no reason to 'off' him . They had been in love and the 60's was good. HE fucked her enough for her to have three children, so he too got what he wanted.
In E
Ehhh, a curiosity.
Back in Jail...Again?
@oliaiguambfigues76
Brian Jones was murdered by his house keeper / capenter : he confessed on his death bed !
The individual whom was murdered was shown to have had a pistol in his hand : the individual whom 'killed' this person acted in self defense ( as was proven)
