If you activate Steam Deck's native FSR in the 3-dot button menu (and make sure FSR is showing as "ON" in green text under the performance overlay #4), you can get 60 fps. I haven't tried this new patch yet, but the previous one was consistently 55+ fps!
yes I know that :) but the deck fsr is based on fsr 1, sure it works, but I prefer ingame fsr etc. :/ I actually never use the deck's own fsr for my tests because you have to reduce the resolution etc. yourself, I only do that when it really has to be, like when starfield was released
@@FreddysGamingBenchmarks interesting. What I maybe don’t understand is some games that have FSR built in, it makes everything look worse unless you activate it by going windowed (not full screen) and dropping the in game resolution. Then it looks great AND has higher fps. And Gamescope shows FSR is on and green.
@@kcrain81 SteamOS FSR is an upscaler (FSR1). This means even if you have the Scale Method set to FSR, it doesn't actually do anything (ie. show as ON in the overlay) unless the app's render resolution is lower than the current display's native resolution. So if you are on the Steam Deck's native resolution (1280x800), you'd have to set the game to something lower than that... like 1120. This however will blur the game and UI slightly; as it upscales EVERYTHING being rendered within the app/game. When a game has built-in FSR, it can tell it's game/3d engine to render using FSR, and thus exclude the User Interface/HUD etc from that upscaling. So the UI remains sharp at native resolution. Elden ring can get 30-45 FPS without using FSR. I have some settings posted on reddit. I'd link it, but some channel authors tend to mysteriously make your comment disappear if you link to anything that's not their channel. In any case, in some games you can actually use two upscalers the SteamOS one, plus the game's; if they aren't both the same FSR. Like for instance the NIS upscaler has a very nice sharpening effect to it, that looks better than FSR in some games. So I combine it with a game's FSR sometimes.
yes the game scope only shows the deck's own fsr in green, with ingame fsr it is not set to green :) yes that's right, very well explained :) the issue with the links is because as soon as you activate the comment filter on yt then swear words and links are filtered out just for info :) it's certainly not meant in a bad way by the respective people
@@kestononline today I learned. Thanks! Nevertheless, I do prefer to get closer to 60 fps on Elden Ring using the Decks upscaler. It works and still looks good enough to my eyes. The text is a little worse for wear, but I really can’t tell the difference in fidelity when I can absolutely feel the difference in fps.
This game is not my cup of tea but it looks awesome and seems to run very good on the Deck!! 👍👍 I think there's even room for more performance without sacrificing the visuals to much if you lower the settings a bit.
yeah, that's how I feel too bro :D I'm not really into playing souls like, obviously I'm too bad for that :D but yeah, of course you can set it up better and optimize it :)
@@FreddysGamingBenchmarks I understand it my brother, I wish you could get it at some point and try it to get the best configuration:) I appreciate Helldivers 2, brother, a configuration in which it has decent performance and doesn't look like a Play 2 game would be very useful to me. Thanks my friend :)
Thank you for this one Freddy. Still crazy when i think 😮 . Got Elden Ring on the go 😆 Valve magic 🎩 ✨️
no problem bro :) yes the device always surprises me :) for the rather weak components they get an insane amount of performance out of it
30fps is insane . Can't believe this is playable on the deck. I'll be picking this up in a sale
yes it runs very well :) the base game runs even better :) the DLC runs a little worse
@@FreddysGamingBenchmarks having this on the go . Good times
I played 120+ hours of it on PS5 and can’t wait to pick it up on a steam sale. Unbelievable it runs this well.
@CristianSilvagnoli November 27th is the next big sale I believe 👍🏻
