  • Installing a new brake master cylinder, fuel tank and fuel gauge sending unit on this 1960 Chevrolet Biscayne, then take a little test drive.
    This 1960 Chevrolet Biscayne four door sedan with six cylinder 235 cubic inch engine with three manual gears was assembled in general motors plant in europe, Denmark. The Biscayne model was the economy model of Chevrolet passenger cars, and was first sold to a taxi company, but it was too big for small country roads, and was traded in for a smaller car. A young man bought it, but he couldn`t stand the grass green original colour, so he painted it himself "rally red". His frends then called the car the red lightning due to his style of driving. He used the car as his company car with tools and welding equipment in the trunk. The car was until 2001, but always with care, and he kept it for his life.

    First timer here. Gotta say, I love this production style. It is the automotive equivalent of "Shut Up And Play", a YT channel for guitarists. Such a pleasant departure from those who can't stop talking, or putting their mug in front of the camera way more than they need to. Great story behind this bottom-of-the-barrel Biscayne. Had no idea Chevrolets were assembled in Denmark, or anywhere in Europe for that matter. Off to see DoC's playlist, if there's more like this, I'm subbing!

    In 1974 (March-August) I owned a '60 Chevy BelAir that I "owned" for $40! This car sold for $1990 NEW! I kept the window sticker for YEARS! SADLY, as (owner #2) I was its LAST STOP! In Northern Minnesota, RUST IS "ULTIMATE EQUILIZER"!

    In Canada, the Biscayne, was also called the Pontiac Stratochief, which had Chevy motors, and wasn't a wide tracking Catalina, that did have Pontiac motors.

    I had the identical car except in blue. Only options were a radio and heater. You have a nicer horn ring. Where do you find these cars?

      I saw that video too, complex conversion job. This car i feel must be original, but i know about a 1960 bel air that needs full restoration that may be acandidate for some upgrades..

    In Canada, Pontiacs were rebadged Chevrolets, Strato Chief, was a Biscayne, Laurentian, was a Bel Air, and Parisienne was a Impala, Canadian Pontiacs didn't Pontiacs fame Wide Track Suspension, and weren't Catalinas.

    Great to see folks in Europe like these cars 2. That's one text me back here and my dad used to drive a 60 Bel Air 4 door. Couple of them including an Impala hardtop. Got fifty-nine sedan but sold the old 59 wagon little while back. A lot of projects. Depending on where you're located it's probably like seeing a bunch of Volkswagens are Fiats laying around. More plentiful in the United States. But not something you see on corner

    Wings! Right on! I’ve got a 59 Chev and a 59 Buick. Both are wing cars. The Chev is a gull wing and the Buick is a Delta wing. 57 Chevs and 57-58 Chrysler’s had fins. Most people, including car guys either don’t know there is a difference or get them confused.

    • @CAROLDDISCOVER-1983
      @CAROLDDISCOVER-1983 Год назад +1

      They were all referred to as fins. Just? If it's horizontal or vertical? Some guy call them wings. Nothing wrong with that. Impala 4 door hardtop I bought in the 80s from the original owner. It's in pretty good shape and I've got 60 Bel-Air that on the rough side. But out of the three they're going to be in a 59 four-door I have that's the one I'm thinking of men do something with pretty soon.

    I'd get a trunk lid from a 1960 Impala, so that the car would have backup lights.

    Your 55 Imperial video popped up this morning. Different style video layout, which i didnt think I'd like, but I judged too soon. Instantly hooked and have watched all your videos now. Your attention to detail or repair process speaks louder than words. Beautiful vehicles, nice shop, and tools!! Keep 'em coming👍

    235, which on a Canadian Pontiacs was a 261, pales in comparison to Catalina's 389.

    I bought a 60 Biscayne 2 dr in Virginia while stationed there in 1973 for $140.00. 235 powerglide. I drove it back to Ma. using a lot of oil. I pulled the head and replaced rings and rod bearings in the car and drove it a few more years

    It’s always amazing that people back then wouldn’t spend the very little money to have power brakes, steering, etc. those cars didn’t drive very well with manual brakes and steering. Especially parallel parking downtown as was a daily routine back then.

    Amazing that some manufacturer still makes a fuel tank for a vehicle this old. Chevrolet does have a facility full of spare parts for their older models do they?
