  • The GrillGun by GrillBlazer is an insane bit of gear. It's a hell of a lot of fun, and I definitely feel more manly now I have one!
So what is it? The Grill Gun is essentially a propane torch. It's designed for two things - lighting charcoal and searing meat, so in this video that's what I'm testing. I set out to find how well the GrillGun lights charcoal, and I'm especially interested in how fast. I also find out how well it sears food.
For this GrillGun Review, I have taken a Weber Kettle Grill and put a full Kettle Kone inside. I used the Grill Gun charcoal starter to get the charcoal lit as quickly as possible. I then relax with a few brewskis while some chicken wings do their thing. When they're ready, I hit them with the GrillGun for a sear finish.
But how well did the Grill Gun do? You'll have to watch the video to find out!

How hot does the gun get? Scared if it can burn through my pk cast aluminum grill?

Great question. Now, I'm not a materials engineer, or any kind of engineer for that matter, so don't take this as gospel. But, the gun is rated to 400,000BTU. Cast Aluminium melts at 1220F. Converting BTU to F is really tricky. I'd suggest that the gun would not melt a hole in your PK (it hasn't in mine). You can find more about converting BTU to F here:
