My dad flew the RF-4 during Vietnam And I remember as a kid he hated the F-16 because it was a single engine but he grew to love it when it came time for him to retire. He went from the F-101 voodoo and retired as an O-9 flying the F-15
I remember taking tour of Volk Field & Fort McCoy with Dad & BSA Troop 47and thinking there are a few static displays there like F4, F101, F104, DELTA DART, ETC
as a retired USAF F-16C Crew Chief after 30 years, i had my chance to get a back seat ride in a D-Model (2 Seater), i can confirm that is one of the best rides in my memory bank!!

After swallowing that amount of adrenaline for that amount of time, I would imagine that being on the ground would leave any pilot in a flat calm. After traveling at and beyond the speed of sound at altitudes of around 60,000 ft or more, being on Terra firma must feel like Bahamian Island time, even in LA!

@@FullGatling Agreed. Luck plays a small part, for instance being blessed with the physical qualities needed, but 95% of it is hard work. And being a pilot, especially flying a top of the line military aircraft, is far more than just strapping your ass in the cockpit and doing neat aerobatics. Studying and understanding every inch of your aircraft and all equipment that goes along with it, understanding weather, navigation, ancient Egyptian algebra, mission parameters, combat tactics and limits, regulations, restrictions and of course interpreting how you can exploit this knowledge in any given situation. Not to mention all the politics involved. It takes an insane amount of dedication and discipline. It hurts my head and I have the utmost respect for these pilots. I'll stick flying low and slow in a Cessna.

First watch the short you want to save then go to your library and find your history of viewed videos click on the one that says shorts that contains all your recently watched shorts and rewatch the short all the wat through that you want to save so it will show up in your history as your last watched video then click the three dots under the vidoes thumbnail and save it.
I actually WAS a fighter pilot. 32 years in the USAF (O-8 ret.). I drove the F-15E Strike Eagle, known affectionately as the 'Mudhen'. You should see an unrestricted takeoff in the Eagle.

Just wish we would have had the internet back then because finding any good information from any of them except the jarhead marine looking for football players he could sucker in was impossible.
as soon as i bought this airplane in DCS i fell in love in it. It was challenging at the beginning to learn how to use it. 400 pages manual and more but it paid off.
No fighter plane will ever make me want to embrace it like the F-16. First time when I got close to one I literally gave it a hug for few minutes. The second one who gave me that kind of emotional connection to beauty was the P-51D.

I was at Hill in the 421st between ‘98-‘99. I actually have the squadron shirt on as I type this lol

Just wish we would have had the internet back then because finding any good information from any of them except the jarhead marine looking for football players he could sucker in was impossible.

as soon as i bought this airplane in DCS i fell in love in it. It was challenging at the beginning to learn how to use it. 400 pages manual and more but it paid off.

No fighter plane will ever make me want to embrace it like the F-16. First time when I got close to one I literally gave it a hug for few minutes. The second one who gave me that kind of emotional connection to beauty was the P-51D.
There are so many ultra-cool war planes. The F-4 Phantom II is another one. The F-111 looks likes it's moving even when secured.
There's just something about the P51. It's a flying work of art.

And FA18 pilot is thinking about how that is a long and slow takeoff. Still both are great planes
