My dad flew the RF-4 during Vietnam And I remember as a kid he hated the F-16 because it was a single engine but he grew to love it when it came time for him to retire. He went from the F-101 voodoo and retired as an O-9 flying the F-15
I remember taking tour of Volk Field & Fort McCoy with Dad & BSA Troop 47and thinking there are a few static displays there like F4, F101, F104, DELTA DART, ETC

as a retired USAF F-16C Crew Chief after 30 years, i had my chance to get a back seat ride in a D-Model (2 Seater), i can confirm that is one of the best rides in my memory bank!!
You are so blessed lucky!!! From a young age I wanted to be in and a part of the USAF as an F-16 pilot. Unfortunately, due to pulmonary stenosis, which I was born with, they would not allow me to enlist. So, I certainly appreciate the videos.

My father in law is an F-16 pilot. The man is the most calm human I've ever seen.
No doubt. My dad flew F-16s for a long time. Except golf, he gets angry duffing a chip.
Be careful with his daughter, otherwise he will not be that calm .
After swallowing that amount of adrenaline for that amount of time, I would imagine that being on the ground would leave any pilot in a flat calm. After traveling at and beyond the speed of sound at altitudes of around 60,000 ft or more, being on Terra firma must feel like Bahamian Island time, even in LA!
I have some italian friends who are Tornado pilots...the same..extremely rational and calm...😊

@@newlife00266 Agreed. Luck plays a small part, for instance being blessed with the physical qualities needed, but 95% of it is hard work. And being a pilot, especially flying a top of the line military aircraft, is far more than just strapping your ass in the cockpit and doing neat aerobatics. Studying and understanding every inch of your aircraft and all equipment that goes along with it, understanding weather, navigation, ancient Egyptian algebra, mission parameters, combat tactics and limits, regulations, restrictions and of course interpreting how you can exploit this knowledge in any given situation. Not to mention all the politics involved. It takes an insane amount of dedication and discipline. It hurts my head and I have the utmost respect for these pilots. I'll stick flying low and slow in a Cessna.

At least they think they are. My dad was a Fighter pilot. I didn't look up to him in any way. I just saw flying as being a driver of anything else. Fighters def look like fun to drive. He had the respect of other pilots though.
@@Anddapizzaplease I agree that any monkey can pilot... that's even essentially a quote from an IP of mine. However, any monkey can't fly NOE while monitoring 6 radios and 2 video streams and respond tactically and correctly to realtime developments on the battlefield.

I live about 30 miles outside of San Antonio and a couple years ago. They did some maneuvers and testing from Lackland Air Force base. And I was very lucky that for a couple days. The most amazing planes, jets and helicopters flew right over my house. It was so fun to watch.

An excellent example of why some people say that the F-16 is the only fighter jet you sit on top of instead of in.
The canopy having nearly zero obstructions besides behind you is why I love it so much in sims. Wonderful views outta that thing. Plus, she so damn smexy
F-16 is my favorite. I grew up on elmendorf AFB in Anchorage Alaska watching these planes fly every day.

I used to build the munitions and countermeasures for all the fighter jets for the USAF. Delivering my weapon systems, countermeasures, and 20MM to these chariots on deployments was the closest I came to being in one. I was awarded three incentive flights throughout my career for my achievements, but sadly they were either postponed and forgotten about, or something else came up with work that prevented me to be able to get strapped in and taken for a freedom flight. It was always my dream. Much respect to these guys for what they do and how they not only carry out their training, exercises, and missions overseas, but also for the extra hours they put in with things like incentive flights and flying flags over enemy territory for our troops, and dedicating so much time to a job not many people can do. I salute you gentleman, warriors of the skies.

Not really as if you win the Friday nite carrier poker tournament then you can fly on Saturday after your half hour lesson( flying jets is really very easy.They can teach monkeys in a week( look at the Marines), so,win a tournament eat a couple of bananas& have a nice flight

I actually WAS a fighter pilot. 32 years in the USAF (O-8 ret.). I drove the F-15E Strike Eagle, known affectionately as the 'Mudhen'. You should see an unrestricted takeoff in the Eagle.

My fondest memory is watching a F-15 Eagle take to the air after a 500 hour maintenance. She rolled around the hammerhead, kicked in the ABs and was gone. Super impressive.

as soon as i bought this airplane in DCS i fell in love in it. It was challenging at the beginning to learn how to use it. 400 pages manual and more but it paid off.

First watch the short you want to save then go to your library and find your history of viewed videos click on the one that says shorts that contains all your recently watched shorts and rewatch the short all the wat through that you want to save so it will show up in your history as your last watched video then click the three dots under the vidoes thumbnail and save it.

I’ll always have a special love for the F-16 as I was a ground support mechanic at Hill on the F-16 in the 80’s. I know it’s an aging bird, but still VERY capable of getting the job done! Fantastic clip, gave me goose bumps on my legs! 😎👍👍

I was at Hill in the 421st between ‘98-‘99. I actually have the squadron shirt on as I type this lol
@@uksuv6398 - right on my friend! I believe if I’m not mistaken they had a mission change just shortly after I left. I was there from 1985-1988. It was F-16 while I was there, but then my memory seems to think they had a new aircraft come in but I can’t remember. We’re you on the flightline? What aircraft were there when you were stationed there?
@@TheStoneWhisperer Hill kept the 16 until 2016. I was there in the 4th when the last 16 left and we got the 35.
