Maybe one day you can make a 3 way small speaker video? There's out something from Edifier but under Moukey brand that have this small unit with 3 way. Thank you!
Got HS7's. Super satisfied with them . But I must admit if I would switch them for the Tannoys - I'm sure I would not find any problems with them too. They reproduce violins and vocals so effortlessly ...
I use to have the hs7's and I'm reluctant to say that I preferred them to the tannoy here. Some clarity was lost especially up top in the tannoy's, but they aren't too far behind the Yamaha in my opinion. Great work as usual. 👍🏿
Not sure where you are getting any clarity on a HS7 but if you wanna be that person my TV has better quality sound than any Yamaha studio monitor... But getting back to the facts, just playing it through my phone I could tell there was a lot more detail coming from the Tannoys...
@@thespeakerguy2340 if you're only using a phone and tv speaker then thats half of your problem right there, the hs7 is much closer to the original source and doesn't sound forced across the frequency spectrum like the tannoy in my opinion. I think it maybe the imaging that it's way too much on the tannoy for me. Plus I'm listening through my original Focal Alpha's today and I still prefer the hs7.
To me the Yamaha's gives more clarity while the Tannoy's add a little bit more weight in the low mids/lows and is less fatiguing, better on a non treated room. Great speakers, i find the Tannoy's to be more fun and engaging but the yamaha's should be better suited for serious audio work.
I like the more open sound signature of the Tannoy a little more than the Yamaha. These two pairs are on the same level, one is not better than the other, they're just different.
Well done mate! Can you please compare the 3 sizes of the Tannoy Golds? (5" vs 7" vs 8"). I have a small room and I want to get the 5" but I wanna know what's the compromise I'm making between the other two bigger ones. I could get the bigger ones but I want the desk space, and I just want to hear the difference between them to decide for sure. Thanks! Edit: Nevermind I just saw that you did compare the 5" vs the 7". Damn, you're good man! You are good!! :D
Tannoy about $100 US less expensive than the Yamaha, so very fair comparison. I suppose it depends on your sonic preference. The Tannoy have some bass lift the Yamaha's do not. The Yamaha are going to be the better studio speaker I think, but there is something in the midrange I don't care for. I can't put my finger on it though. May be something in the lower treble. Difficult to say, and things like separation and space are difficult to judge here. Toss-up for me. I prefer the Tannoy but again, probably the upper bass lift.
Thank you for test. I have the Tannoy Gold 7 and they are magical. I love the open wide sound with the Dual Concentric driver technology. The difference to the yamahas is minimal. What about the song Limbo from Yello to your test list? ;-)
stereo field wise Yamaha was close to the source track positioning of elements in the mix while Tannoy brought elements of th source track forward kind not a true representative of the sound the track they all sound nice though
Maybe your headphones are harsh. I don't hear any harshness in these speakers. If you think these Yamahas are harsh, go listen to some B&W speakers and see.
They have that more accurate sound in the mid-range what's important the tannoys Yamaha sound metallic lacking important detail and some phase issues with the Yamaha expect better from Yamaha not good
I like your job. Both speakers are doing a very good job. I listen on a DAC (fostex HP A4) and on STAX L700 headphones. There are subtle differences. Tannoy seems little bit worm and wide. I can not decide which one i like the most. Maybe Tannoy for day to day listening and Yamaha just for monitoring. I propose to you the JBL Quantum (for those looking for a good pair of gaming speakers). I know it might sound silly, but even if I use IK Multimedia speakers and Stax L700 for headphones i still have a good opinion about these JBL. Have a look (or an ear) in the future. Best regards.
@@ChrisBessy you would have to try a more balanced sounding hs8 and a more detailed sounding hs5 to convince yourself. By the way of this size and price, which one do you think the hs7 can beat.

Great test video - pretty cool how close these two are. Subtle differences but both are winners in my book.
I love the good job of this channel. Hope it grows a lot more. Thank you!

Much better sound stage too...

It's hard to imagine anyone calling a harsh, unlubricated high note a "more clear" sound lmao

Could you make a sound comparison with Yamaha Hs5 and Yamaha Ns10? it would be very interesting.

Would like to have the TANNOY in a WHITE edition !!! 😍🙏

Both are nice!
I use B&W N805 to hear their

Your videos are awesome!, have you thought about doing Audioengine A2+ vs Audioengine HD3?
The Tannoy's sound much nicer to me, but now i'm wondering if thats actually a good thing if i want to use them to mix songs. 🤔

Yamaha’s are like the ultimate “flat-response” experience.
(Sometimes that’s exactly what you want…. Sometimes.)
tannoy gold really surprised me.they drive the sound like a ferrari
HS7 with HS8s sub here, best sound for my requirements.
Generic Yamaha opinion: they're harsh in the high freq.

@@byniasofficial2567 this is the first time I've heard of the "culture", I'm curious about it. I wonder how I would find out more about it?
Don't you just love when some random comes along and tells you your opinion is wrong? Lol.
I think it's that harsh high-mids. There's no true defined presence on the high-end. The midrange of the yamahas is overshadowing the high-end.

The tannoys have a nicer mid range
pura calidad,..!!
Hi brother add (sscs5 sony speaker) on your Playlist
I want the A5x vs A7x right now:)
los tannoy tienen tweeters ??
pusieron todo en el mismo lugar para evitar problemas con las fases...algo así leí, si buscas sale mas info seguro! saludos
I really dislike that tipical Yamaha sound. They create a soundstage that isn't in the recording itself.
true, i have the HS7 and i cant good work on the stereo ..... with my RP5 i directly hear the stereo and the place of instruments in the track.
Yami👌🏻
where is tannoy tweeter?
at the centrum of the woofer :) (its not a joke)
The Tannoys sounded closer to the source track.
HS7 wins IMO
Yamaha wins.
Yamaha
los yamaha tienen problemas de fase

so much above Yamaha. Well any 7 inch monitor is on top of the worst Yamaha of the Hs line.
why HS7 is the more bad ? I have at home RP5, HS7 and eris 4.5 .....

Placement of the Tannoy's is COMPLETELY wrong...bullshit test, again. I'm out.
DSD audio, and they cant place a speaker properly.....hilarious.
