Just Joni and her guitar...No band is needing,no backing vocals,no horns,violins...Just this fabulus woman alone is more than enough,is heaven... love you Joni!!!
The guitar she plays is a midi'd Parker Sly Artist. It allows her to play different tunings (this song features an open C) on one guitar in concert. According to her friends, Joni can play in 50 different tunings.
My favorite performance of hers. She has the perfect amount of raspiness in her voice which makes her lyrics that much more sanguine sounding. And the flange on her guitar paints a nautical bed for her words to float on.
"Listened to this since it hit the airwaves, -----still has the same effect, like floating on a rubber raft in the swimming pool on a hot summer day!" Man....... this woman can "swing!"--------" LOL !"....doesn't matter what clothes this "thing" wears.....
Joni recently, very quickly and not so subtly, nixed an attempt of some "fool" who thought she might be interested in having Taylor Swift play her in a movie on her life. Joni's reply was, "All you've got going for you is high cheekbones". The only common denominator between Joni and Taylor is the number 50, Joni has played in 50 alternate guitar tunings and Taylor has played around with 50 different 'boyfriends'. God made only one 'Joni', what a blessing for those of us who were fortunate enough to have gown up in the 60's with all her beautiful music. I want my house in heaven to be on your street Joni, see you soon, God bless you Joni !!!
I remember hearing he in an interview many years ago saying that David Crosby taught her so many tunings for the guitar. I also recall hearing that, except for Woodstock, she doesn't play anything that's not in some tuning.
yay! this performance absolutely towers above the over-produced, over-arranged, tom scott-ified, steely dan-ish recording on *Court and Spark*. what a great song. what a great performance.
Sorry, but I just could never and still cannot get into her. Very overrated artist in my humble opinion. Great poet, but boring, choppy melodies that are all over the place.
Ain't no-one coming round like this for a while........

Glad I have the dvd. Bless Joan...
I absolutely love this woman
we do we do
One of the very few who truly can't be compared as a guitar player-everyone but her uses a fu*king blueprint.
I buy this DVD. Is so amazing. I cried hearing this yesterday.
Hermoso...Hermoso...Hermoso...de otra dimensión...
What a musical and lyrical genius. One more artist for me to see...
Wow thanks for your music Joni

Frankly this is my favorite iteration of this song, I love the version on court and spark, but this is just seems so much more tonally pleasing
This is from "Painting With Words and Music," available on WB DVDs.
❤❤
Besides being way talented, she is also adorable~
This is fucking amazing.
I apologize if you don’t like my language, but when something’s fucking amazing, what else is there to say?
A MEN
Besides that it's FUCKING AMAZING?
How about this:
The Nobel-committee are a bunch of Swedish wankers for not awarding Joni the Nobel-prize?

That would be heaven, having Joni in the neighborhood. She could do whatever she wanted to.
@TheNigelr
So true, so true!
Actually miss Joni Mitchell.
Isn't it great that she doesn't mind her music being on youtube??
I remember hearing he in an interview many years ago saying that David Crosby taught her so many tunings for the guitar. I also recall hearing that, except for Woodstock, she doesn't play anything that's not in some tuning.
Actually she taught him open tunings
Rock of Gibraltar to the nth power and then some.......
amazing... but I missed Furry sings the blues on this dvd..
"That's called her roadies!" She's had "LOTS of those from day 2!"
Sour grapes, ‘cause I lost my heart.
I think this version is superior to the album cut. So beautiful.
Like so many of her works, she has advanced.
Talk about painting with words and music.
You can see every character as she describes them and every scane1
None better

@buschnic61 Totally agree. Well put. :)
mid 90s i guess
too much.

why is she playing it wrong?
Why are you a weirdo?
It's HER SONG, she can play it however she f-word wants!!
What's wrong with you??
