- If you too want to play with Flexible Solyndra solar panels...Come buy some from me! If that's not a shameless plug for myself I don't know what is.

You should build an arch and put it on the raven.
First I need to stop breaking the Raven! That thing does need a solar panel though.
Mount the flexible panel to the top of a bus by gluing the rubber strip to the roof with 3M windshield adhesive.
Is there a reason why they space the tubes so far apart? Seems like so much wasted space but those panels are pretty damn cool looking.
I suspect it's a very specific spacing to allow for sun to hit the next tube even early in the day when the sun is low in the sky. Just like a typical flat roof ballasted installation would have space between each row.
I can't wait to see what you do! Btw, can the modules be disconnected? In that case you could wire them up in all kinds of cool configurations.
Looks like they are stuck in the 157w modules unless I want to destroy one. Which I probably will to see what the tubes look like.
Considered taking three tubes and mounting them on my civic hybrid in series to trickle charge the little 800wh 144v battery.
@@BeeneEnergy That's hardcore. You're hardcore. Whatever happens, you'll be the talk of the town! 😉
Oh man, this can conform around shapes! BTW there's an optical coupling liquid in the tubes. I think/wonder if this is where much of the weight comes from.
I should have read up on it more. I was figuring it was for cooling but optical coupling would reduce the amount of reflective light you need I guess. Cool!
@@BeeneEnergy Yeah, I was thinking it was to optically couple the film to the tube.
Did you get it back together? I am debating how to mount these to the carport. Tempted to just use short self tapping sheet metal screws into the frame. I will tag you in the video description once i get the fist batch up.
Never did try. If I were mounting I’d probably do the short tubes. Since they don’t have any wiring in them.
Yeah excited to see them mounted!
Neat
Dam how long are they... Keep it up brother
72" long for the panel. Each tube is about 43".
Lay these across, and let them conform to the ridge of a roof. Cheapest/easiest solar install ever? Just an idea folks, don't come after me if it slides off, and crushes you :)
Ya know, there was a design for a roof racking system that used panels on each side of the roof to ballast each other.
I did notice the rubber isn’t terribly resilient to bending so this might expose some bare wiring by taking the panel apart and allowing it to bend.
@@BeeneEnergy Yikes exposed wire, OK scratch that idea :) If you ever tear one down to individual tubes, I'd like to play with some. 90v wind chime? LOL
A roof mount curved sound like a good idea as long as you take care of those exposed wires
Question amigo, can you cut that in have and instead have 98 volts you can have 45 volt, and that way we can connect microinverter. ? Thanks in advance
Each tube is 90 something volts and all the tubes are in parallel, so unfortunately no you can't :(.
Wrap them around tree trunks
