Henry McBean really left his mark on Castlemaine. It was interesting to learn about his career, his characteristic style and his legacy in the area. It is sad that his mother didn't ever get to live in the home he was planning for her. Thanks for taking us on this fascinating look at Castlemane!

Henry was a very talented man. This was a great tour and you are so lucky to have one of his homes and I can tell you love it! My grandfather was a carpenter not as big or talented as Henry but we love driving out into our old neighborhood and show all the many homes he built over the years in the area. The cutest thing at the end of your video I paused and slowed it down because it is so adorable of the 3 of you and Ruby is smiling at the camera you can tell she had the best day! Great video love where you live it is so cute I would have to walk for coffee and beer everyday! LOL! ...Jodi

There are plenty of food/coffee places in CASTLEMAINE and a couple of Breweries as well as bakeries.

When I was a brick layer, I got to build a few magnificent houses from very similar smooth heritage bricks. One in particular was a mansion for the CEO of Rothmans. Spectacular building.
They certainly don't build them like they used to Chewie. These days they slap the building together very quickly. Thank you for joining us on our McBean Legacy walk. 🤠👍🏼🙏🏼

You are right Deb, they do not build buildings like they used do. The art of craftsmanship has certainly almost died or become unaffordable.
Yes the big global enterprises have killed the small businesses.

McBean was certainly a busy guy. He has really left his mark on Castlemaine. Quite a mixture of building styles. Another interesting tour guys. I will have to look back a few years and check my images of Castlemaine. We did stop off for a walk around the town some years ago. Best wishes to you both. Robert & Ivor.

Us too, isn't amazing that we are the new custodians, when we first saw it I had no idea and t did not really sink in until we had a personal tour of the house with the owners daughter. We have bought a piece of history.

Victorians pronounce castle differently to New South Welshmen. Castlemaine, I think the last time I was there was when I was at Wroo. Noisy place Castlemaine. For foreigners, Victoria is a strange State, a place where they worship a lump of pigskin which they kick around and through four posts.
