- Do you like strawberry cake and cheesecake? Why not combine the two for a Strawberry Cheesecake Cake. This cake is so delicious and so easy with the help of a boxed cake mix. With a couple of changes, this cake will taste like one you paid for at a bakery. Who needs to know it is from a box. And the cheesecake element will surprise you. You can change the flavor cake mix and have a different taste element. Recipe below.

Ingredients:
1 strawberry cake mix
1 prepackaged cheesecake
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1/3 cup butter
1 tub cream cheese frosting
1 package freeze dried strawberries
Directions:
Preheat oven per package directions.
Add cake mix to bowl of electric mixer. Add eggs, butter, and milk. Mix on high for 2-3 minutes or until combined. Do not overmix. Divide batter between 2 8-inch or 2 9-inch cake pans that have been sprayed with baking spray or greased and floured. Bake per package directions. Cool completely on wire rack.
To assemble cake:
On a cake plate, lay down your first layer of cake. Spread premade cheesecake mixture over. Lay second layer on top of cheesecake. Scrape sides if cheesecake layer pushed through. Refrigerate cake for 2-3 hours. Remove from refrigerator, frost cake with cream cheese frosting. Crush freeze dried strawberries and sprinkle on top of cake to decorate.

I’ve decorated cakes for years. Here’s a recipe for cake release that I use instead of buying a spray can.
1C Crisco
1C Veggie Oil
1C AP Flour
Mix with stand mixer for 10 minutes.
Put in airtight container.
Does not need to be refrigerated but I keep mine in the fridge.
Just brush it in the pan and your cake will come out beautifully.
P.S. your cake looked delish and I’m gonna try the cheesecake!!

This sounds really great! I have never heard of the cheesecake pre-made. Great thing! I bet chocolate with caramel frosting would a super for the fall days.

I just made this cake today. I used the box mix and used the switch outs like you did. The cake layers turned out great and taste very good.
I made my own frosting. Now the cake is delicious, but the cheesecake filling slid out of the center even though I kept it in the fridge. I need to find a way of putting this in a cake pan so it doesn't come apart.
Like I said, it tastes very good.

Your cake looks delicious! I use box cake and can icing, and I buy a lot of other items. There is nothing wrong with it. Cooking have become much easier for women; our mothers and grandmothers would agree. 😊😊

I do the same cake mix hack you use, except I also add 1 Tblsp vanilla flavoring (especially to yellow and chocolate mixes. For white, I use 1/2 teaspoon-1 teaspoon almond flavoring or coconut flavoring.)
Chocolate cake with chocolate icing and fresh raspberries on top with a raspberry reduction. (Yeah I love chocolate 😂) I’m gonna give this recipe a try!

Where have I been? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that prepackaged cheesecake filling. I’m looking closer the next time I’m at the grocery. I’m definitely trying the milk, butter and extra egg in my next box cake.
