The meal looks mighty fine, Karen. I love the versatility of meat balls and I especially like the way Pop Jones fixed his on the bread with gravy...yum !!! The pans look beautiful, and I like the number of pans in the set. What a wonderful gift for a new bride. Thanks for sharing and y'all have a Blessed day.

I have Saladmaster that was your Grandmother's. She gave it to me probably 35 Yeats or so ago. Just as good now as it was then.

Growing up, I remember my mom always putting a saucer with maybe 5-6 slices of bread on the supper table every single night. Many times after eating a serving of mashed potatoes with gravy, rather than go for a second helping of potatoes, we’d throw a slice of bread on our plate and cover it with gravy. Or it was an option if someone didn’t want potatoes. When we had a meal without gravy, then we’d have bread and butter as an option. As a young child I just figured that’s what people put on their tables with supper. Now as a grown, and well aged, adult I realize it was a way to stretch the meal. I grew up in the 70’s and early 80’s and there were some tough times scattered throughput those years, but we never knew that, or felt it. Another one of my favorite meals from childhood is frying up leftover boiled potatoes and fried ground beef patties with crushed up saltines, eggs and some seasonings in it. I thought that was a thing, something everyone had from time to time. Again, as an adult, I realize that my mom was stretching the protein. It’s funny that many of the meals she made when times were lean are still favorites of mine today. Thank you for listening and for allowing me to share and walk down memory lane. If only for a brief few minutes. Sure do miss those times. Miss my mom and dad every day as well. Too bad we don’t know to appreciate those younger years and all of our loved ones that aren’t going to be with us forever. Love your videos and enjoy spending time with you in your kitchen ❤ ❤

Thank you for the memories. We did the same. I was born in the 50s, the oldest of 5 children. Mama had to stretch a pound of meat as far as she could. So yes, eggs, crackers, sliced bread, we didn't know those were in the meat. We just lived it. And she made gravy with water instead of milk or broth. She had 7 people to feed, so she had to make it work. We had lots of dried beans, cornbread, and potatoes. No days, potatoes are expensive. Thank you for being a part of our family. ❤️❤️
