    I’ve never heard of dipping solution. I’ve always painted with gel color and vodka, but after watching this video I will definitely be trying it the other way. Beautiful cake 🤩

      Anybody in the US know where we can get this??

      I‘m from Germany and i use 96% alcohol. It also works :)

  • @CakeCakeCake
    @CakeCakeCake 2 года назад +8

    Here in the US we have an alcohol called Everclear that is 95% alcohol, so for those of you who can't find dipping solution, just head to the liquor store 😊.

      So is Everclear more like dipping solution than vodka???

    • @CakeCakeCake
      @CakeCakeCake 2 года назад

      @@ruthlef I mean, people drink Everclear so it comes in a regular 750mL liquor bottle. They probably have some smaller bottles at certain liquor stores. So I guess to answer your question, it's more like vodka.

      I agree, it is a quick way to decorate a cake, but it adds so much colour to the cake and really makes it stand out.

    Wow that's looks amazing.. and thank you for sharing 😍 and I have question.. can I use vanilla essence instead of dipping solution? Cox I can't use alcohol..

    • @CakesbyLynz
      @CakesbyLynz  2 года назад +1

      Hi, I'm so glad you like it. In regards to the vanilla essence I didn't actually test this one, but because it doesn't contain alcohol I would guess it would give a very similar effect to the water where you see the brush marks as it seemed like the higher the alcohol content the more it looked like water colour paint as it made the gel colour a lot smoother.

    I’ve never seen watercolor cake decorations. It looks AWESOME!! I like the look of the abstract art on the cake. Thank you for showing how it does not work with water and vodka because I would have tried both of them first. I love your tutorials.
    Question: if I do water color on the cake what other decorations would I add?

    • @CakesbyLynz
      @CakesbyLynz  2 года назад +2

      I'm so happy you like it, thank you so much Darlene. Also I'm so pleased you liked seeing what didn't work too. I thought it would be useful to add into the video as I couldn't believe the difference with using the vodka and water. I hope it saved you some time if you want to give it a try too.

    Hi there, love your tutorials, so clear and simple!!
    I am keen to attempt this water colour effect for an 8" 4 Layer cake, but I struggle to get a clean finish on placing fondant over taller cakes...do was wondering if I could achieve the same effect if I did the same directly on a Buttercream Cake? Any feedback would be great!! Thanks.

    • @CakesbyLynz
      @CakesbyLynz  2 года назад +1

      Hi Suzana, I have not tried this on a buttercream cake, but I don't see any reason why not. I would say just want to make sure your buttercream is really firm as you may have some of the watercolour absorb into the buttercream.
      If anyone has tried this on buttercream please do let us know if it worked?
