Welcome to Sharpstown located in South West Houston. In this episode, we drive all over Sharpstown from Bissonette and Beechnut to Fondren. Come along and roll with us!
I remember the Pizza Hut on Gessner/Bissonnet (kiddie-corner from the Fire Station). We'd drink a pitcher of beer and each eat a Pizza. Clean fun back in 1981.
My grandparents (who raised me) bought their home off Beechnut & Gessner in 1967. I was born in ‘75 and we lived there until 1983. They then rented the house out to my biological mother & stepdad and I lived with them for a while in ‘91 and again in ‘94. My parents sold the house in ‘95. Seems like that’s about when everyone else left Sharpstown, too. The apartments ruined it. Thanks for the video. I miss my home so much 😢 It’s very sad to see what that area has become. So dangerous and infested with gangs. It’s a shame..
yes! sharptown highschool it brings back so many memories i attended in theater there and it was so FUN! oh but the theater teachers r leaving i will really miss them theres so many memories.😢
I grew up in Sharpstown. My house was on Mobud Dr, right behind Jane Long Jr High School. Sears was at Westwood on 59 @ Bissonett. Foleys, Wards, and Pennys were the only Anchor Stores at Sharpstown Mall
This was a real trip down memory lane for me. I grew up on all the streets you drove, and you barely missed a bunch of my friends' houses. Great content!
I went to Sharpstown middle n high school back in 86 to 91. I’m class of 91 at Sharpstown school. Back then Shapstown was nice n rich area like Sharpstown Mall. Watch ur video bring back old memories. Sad that they torn down my old High school in 2017. I still have my old pics from that school. Back then Shapstown was a good school mostly white goes there n live there. Not anymore nowadays
Hmm, you just took me through Mr Peabody's Wayback Machine. When you turned onto Cannock, you drove right through my old neighborhood. I left Sharpstown 55 years ago.Oh, the changes a half century + have made. Our house on Torquay, was the first house built on that street, 63 years ago.
@@brittrips 70's and 80's, I couldn't say. I left Sharp's Town and Texas in '67. As it turned out, that was a good thing. The Summer of Love, became The Summer of Drugs. My old friends were a collection of space cadets. Houston was murder capital of the country (by capita) that year.
Sharpstown was a suburb back in the 60s 70s... Btw sears was in westwood mall on bissonet and 59 not at Sharpstown mall... @@TrueRetroflection Sharpstown used to be full of nice neighborhoods. The Farbs ruined those neighborhoods by building apartment buildings throughout Sharpstown which are now owned by slumlords.
@@MrRibby88 Crying shame. I visited a few years back and definitely didn't want to linger there. Used to make a day of it back when I got haircuts at that huge barber shop with the all-black decor and neon lights
Im in Sharpstown for work, i do not like it here. Looks dirty, prostitution in plain site, people are So rude and disrespectful. People run red lights, honk for any little thing and go 65mph on a 35mph zone! I can’t wait to go back home (Somewhere in Texas). I’m sure Houston was a lot better before!
Wow, memories unlocked. I grew up in southwest Houston. I graduated from Sharpstown Highschool. Go Apollo's!!
Nice!!

You can thank Harold Farb and Carolyn Farb for ruining Sharpstown.
I’m curious, what was their impact on the area?
