Served n this bad Moma (and the Bonny Dick) in 1967-71. V1 Fly1 greatest thrill of my live. And I've done some crazy shit since. Sure is great to see all this and relive our "Great Conflict Overseas"

Love seeing videos of the old girl but the year 1970 doesn't seem correct. I arrived back from my 3rd WESTPAC deployment on the Connie in April or May of 1970 and I don't think we had any flight operations as we soon headed up the coast for a 9 month overhaul at Bremerton, WA. If you Google Earth, you can still see her unless she has been scrapped. She is the 3rd carrier out from shore, next to her sister ship the Kitty Hawk CV-63. I think it's either the Forrestal or Ranger outboard of her.

I was on Connie 1976 -1980. She was always a clean ship unlike some others we went to Arabian Gulf in 1978 and stayed after Ranger collided with a Liberian freighter showing the flag during Yemen Civil War. They recently overthrew the strongman we installed. I'm heartbroken she's been cut up.
