This portable workbench is a quick and easy build with just a drill and a circular saw. It folds down and stores the essential tools. Can be stored under the bed. It's perfect for apartments, small spaces, or a workshop on the go - can be carried down stairs, on to decks and patios, and loaded into almost any car.

This solves my problem. I was into furniture + other woodworking before I married my husband. Afterwards, I got sick & he adopted my tools. Now I am ready to enjoy my hobby again. I can make this & separate my to buy new tools (so he won't scatter them) and have my reclaimed small space. I love your ideas!!! I love your family & sharing!!! No response necessary. You are just the best!!

The first half of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.

If you keep teaching us newbies the basics of using a speed square, a Ryobi drill/driver, and a Ryobi circular saw, I am going to buy all three and make this bench. We have a Ryobi weed whacker, pole saw, chain saw, and lawn mower, and are happy with all of them. The ever-expanding LIME GREEN section in our garage, LOL. Ryobi, if you read these comments, Ana White is your best investment. I love your yard work line up, but she has sold me on your workshop tools.

The Ryobi line is definitely worth it; very affordable and in your case you probably already own the battery(ies) and charger!

That little table is awesome! What's even better is your kindness at setting up that loaner kit for your friends. It's that mindset of sharing not only your tools, but your ideas and designs to the rest of us that makes you so inspiring. (A few months ago you gave this old lady courage to finally try woodworking myself.) Thanks, again for all you do!

Nice little table. To add value I suggest you cut a lid to fit under the folded table, fix the tools to the lid so that it forms one neat package. Then when unpacking, hang the lid with the tools on the wall.

This is a table/workbench that would be idea for RVers. Dimensions could be adjusted to work as both a outdoor dining table and a workbench and fit into the available storage spaces of your RV.
Great plan! Thank you Mrs. White.

I made this portable bench. It’s a cool design and can be really useful but I feel it needs a few elements to make it better. The legs don’t lock so if I push it from an end the opposite legs ride up and potentially over, collapsing that end which could be an ill timed disaster. The legs totally depend on the strength of the butt joints since they pivot and that’s a long lever. Mine broke the glue on the butt joints and now only the screws are holding it together which might not be for long using pine. I probably should have cut 1x6’s from plywood. Steel corner braces can fix this. I think another 1x3 with V’s cut into the end and span those cross members could brace the legs to prevent the collapsing issue. That does make for one additional piece that won’t fit in the box though.
I do really appreciate you sharing this and I learned a lot going through the process.

Great concept. I would add a grid of dog-holes for clamping and sawing options. Dogholes, either 3/4" diameter, 4" on center in all directions or 20mm diameter, 96 mm on center in all directions.

Thank you, Ana. This is so perfect for those of us just getting started with workshop and home improvement projects on a budget. I'm not in an apartment now, but I remember when I was living in a small space. This would have been a great way to store tools under the bed. When I make this, I'll just use the folding feature to save space in my garage, but store the tools in totes. Thank you. You really are a gem.

Ana, make two shallow trays to hold all of your tools (with handles that do not stick up above the table sides) so that you don't have to remove and replace the tools individually when you use the table. The trays will also make it easy to move your tools to your work site rather than carry them individually. Good video.

Pretty damn nifty I live in an apartment and am getting all my tools together and bought for cold forging some Viking axes and some knifes pre-fab using a grinder and what not and my own quench tank I built at the fab shop. And just about got everything together I need spent about 360$ but the last thing I needed was a workbench preferably mobile or foldable I can take out back to work this I think would be perfect, there's not a lot of weight besides the vice ill mount but I don't see it having a problem holding that, its a smaller Olympie one. I might just make this bad boy, Thank You for the great idea!!

Love your videos and straightforward approach, Ana. Great little work bench. +1 for removing the battery before adjusting the blade depth -- great modeling of proper tool safety. One question: How did you determine where the holes in the sides of the top should be for the carriage bolts? That's the sort of calculating that often trips me up. Also, if you haven't seen it, check out Peter Millard's video on his ultralight portable work bench. Keep up the good work.
