I think the point of this car is to be a daily driver for someone that stays inside the city, but doesn't want to drive an economy (price wise) car. It gives you most of the Lexus brand features without having to dish out extra money for gas.
A Golf will have measurably less tech than this and looks 5x uglier. It also has a VW badge, which is nowhere near the prestige of a Lexus badge. I'd get a Golf GTI over this myself, but that's due to personal preference more than anything. There are tangible reasons to get this Lexus instead.
I think the VW reliability issues are a well hidden secret. Most people I have talked to don't know about it unless they or someone they know have owned a VW product. Having the misfortune of owning an Audi A4 for a couple of years myself, I saw firsthand what it's like. Random electronics would fail, and would cost unreasonable amounts to replace.
BYSMA4th It's the greatest lie ever marketed, "German engineering". But people don't realize Apple doesn't make the best phones anymore, Alienware isn't the best gaming hardware, and "German engineering" doesn't mean the best. Sure they have *refinement*, but that's not the same thing as *reliability*. And a lot of people mix that up. So we get average Joes who buy into the whole German engineering thing and all they do is read the spec sheet without ever actually going through the process of owning one, knowing maintenance costs, joining VW community forums, etc. And when you do join the forums, ask around how reliable their VW was. You're absolutely right, German cars take the cake for random electrical problems, that's for Mercs, Audi, VW. You want *refinement* and *reliability*, AND electronics that don't go bust after a year? Go Japanese.
an amazing car. people say buy a VW golf GTD hahaha. VW are one of the worst build unreliable cars are with most German stuff. people are clueless. 28 years in the motor trade tells me this. This is not & never was meant to be fast. it's an amazing build quality better than anything in its class. Great car. Everyone has their opinion, just most are wrong.
I still keep wondering why Toyota/Lexus could never find a 2.0l to make a hybrid version of. It's either this, or a 2.4l from the Camry/HS250h that is a little too mpg hungry. Seems like a 2.0 version would be the perfect middle ground. Something like 145-150 hp total with all of that e-torque sounds like a perfect mix. They've sold tons of these though, so what do I know?
I'm at the age were fuel economy and reliability is more important than drag racing but I'm not so far gone that I'm willing to pay a premium price for it. A used 2014 CT will run you about 20 grand. So will a new C-Max that while not quite as luxurious, will provide significantly more horsepower and similar MPG. It is a great looking vehicle though.
This car is great in a lot of ways, but the 1.8 hybrid powertrain is a hit & miss. The only thing I wish Lexus did was put in the 2.5 hybrid from the ES300h in or better yet, the 2.0 turbo from the new NX200t. 235hp in a "CT200t" would make a killer hot hatch.
Trades46 i have an rc200t, the ct200h is nice too if your into the whole environment thing. the car is borderline vegan lol. recycled outside and inside plastic i think or something close to that and good mpg
John sierra It does play the environmental card high; it is a good city driving car and for all intent and purpose it does have enough power for everyday duties. What I see is for those wanting great MPG but don't want to put up with the sacrifices the Prius has to achieve top mileage.
This would be such an awesome hot hatch if they ever dropped a 2.0 turbo in there. Or continue with the hybrid but make it more sporty, like having the batteries power one axle and the engine the other. So much potential for this car, it could be so exciting if they just tried to make it fun
This is a very good car. I have had it for a little more than 2 years. But the power train really is very weak. It would be an amazing gem if they would knock off at least 2 seconds from that 0-60.
Seeing as most Highways have a max 85mph speed limit this is a intelligent buy. It will be hard to get speeding tickets & the fuel economy will result in a lot of money saved! Any car with decent torque & whp I tend to abuse. 😂
***** lmao i disagree it depends, if you want the mpg get this, if you want performence go for the is350, if it was the is250 you wanted then go for that then. im a big fan of the is so im gonna say go with the is, but 40 mpg is fenomanal so your call
The entertainment system and the way the stock radio is placed drivers me absolutely crazy. Toyota/Lexus....this is 2017....not 1991...why are we still here!?
Do you know one I am interested is 2017 CT200H F Sport. And I heard 2018 CT200h. I like to know is backup camera, Intuitive parking ass., dynamic radar cruise control, pre collision system, navigation packages. If you know anything please Lets me know. Also range, gas mileage before you full tank. Anything please let me know.
Please compare Lexus CT 200h 14/15 with Honda Civic 2016 because the peoples know to buy a Brand new Honda civic or Used Lexus CT 200h is better then new Honda
I was looking into this car for my wife, but it's just an under powered Matrix XRS with 10K worth of leather & computer tech. I would have went for the CT 200h but with no AWD option I just don't understand this car, save your money buy a 2013 Matrix S AWD you get 60HP more and the ease of mind of AWD in the winter oh and the 10K in your pocket.
@@RCrider185 ....which is why you buy the CT used. I'd much rather get a lightly used Lexus than a new Mazda - especially when I know I'll be saving on gas in the end.

Sorry but the Corolla is a economy car even though you get a fairly attractive car for the price. Lexus is a luxury brand , looks great , more solidly built and everybody knows that you spent at least $30 K for it !
I do agree that this Lexus IS seriously underpowered. They basically put the same drivetrain they use in the Prius and slapped a Lexus badge on it. I expected so much more from it -.-
Lexus seems to have decided to accept the mantle of having "the most unappealing grille in the history of motor vehicles". It looks a million times better than a Prius I would actually drive this
Perfect, Lexus. This is what I'm looking for in a car.
I tested this car today and it was so good to drive very good build quality....i will buy that car I tested in this week👍
Once it is used market... Price obviously tapers. Making this a great value for daily driving
That's what I did. Got myself a lightly used Lexus for $22k. People think I'm living large, and my car cost me $5-10k less than theirs cost them.
I think the point of this car is to be a daily driver for someone that stays inside the city, but doesn't want to drive an economy (price wise) car. It gives you most of the Lexus brand features without having to dish out extra money for gas.
Buy a VW Golf if you're not a fool.

they would never put the 2 litre turbo because the ct200h was designed from the ground up around the current drive train.

Yeah probably nothing but a wishful thinking. I still believe the CT has a great chassis for more power however.

Brian, how about a review on the Acura TLX soon? I am looking for your opinion on that.
Brian, when you drove it on twisties when you got 38.5, was it in sport mode or one of the even pokier modes?

Honestly I wouldn't mind it if it was just a Lexus Prius.
0-60, maybe 4/5 seconds longer than some people want but what will you do with those 4/5 seconds, nothing!
I have this car and if you put it in sport mode the 0-60 will improve by 3-2 seconds
I have this car and no it won't. It does make the steering more sharp tho.
Timothy Lam Interesting
***** which model and year do you have?

lexus and its make up kit is off my list.
Strong points bro
The two people who disliked the video are the others guy's fans lol
7:05 - driving on a sport mode and you wonder why you have 38.5 MPG :)
Such a shame that these are so slow and bland to drive because I really really like how they look on the outside.
the ct finally looks good lol

Beautiful lines and I'm sure very reliable, but not thrilled by it's lethargic performance.
MUCH better than our VW shit
Toyota Matrix with a Prius engine and a slapped on Lexus badge...
2014 Toyota Corolla S is exactly 1/2 the cost of the CT F Sport. Way better value for money.

Watch Alex on autos. This guy's info is pretty bad. Didn't bother to even browse the specs.
center dash looks like an accord
This or a BRZ for fun driving? Hmm...
I would go for the brz lol more fun
What do you expect its a prius!! I own one and they arent peformance orrientant
Keep life simple and you keep life happy. But a Nissan Micra and believe me you will be a lot happier.
Its ok. Nice
It will be so nice if it wasn't a hybrid.
Hah, my nissan cube delivers the same amount of hp but that cvt kills th experience and so does the mpg...
I'm buying. Prius owner here. Still femalish looking but better
this car would be a lot more awesome if it had a 2.0t and awd
+Chris Wallick or with the IS V6 and AWD
+Chris Wallick or a V8
+Chris Wallick Or turbos
+Chris Wallick Or anything else than what it has.
***** yea lol a lot of people say the hybrid engine is too slow
it really is a nice car but how sad that they have to put the weak Toyota 1.8 engine that they use in there small cars like the corolla, yaris etc...
This car is nice but if you are looking for speed this car is not for you even on sport mode its damn slow.
sounds like markiplier
5:54 Still more torque then your Honda!
Does this person know how bread works? It needs a park button for a reason...
All that complexity and it's no faster than a Nissan versa.
beautt

BroccoliBeefed They choose not to use touch screens.
Most luxury cars don't use touchscreen... e.g. all Lexus's, Mercedes's, BMW's, etc.
Timothy Lam True, but recently BMW has migrated towards a touchscreen on the 7 series.
Just more expensive Prius

wat
rump bumper

looks like this guy is very picky on cars. seens like nothing satifies him.
Throw a lexus v6 in there toyota

wow... this car...wtf

0-100 ---10 sek I have one
It seriously took engineers this long to implement proper ergonomics? That's pathetic
ahhhhhhh
ipod interface? who the hell still uses ipod lmaoo
