King Charles III addresses Parliament for first time - BBC News

- King Charles III promised to follow the late Queen's "selfless duty" in his first address to both Houses of Parliament as monarch.
The King said Parliament was the "living and breathing instrument of our democracy" as he spoke in front of 900 MPs and peers at Westminster Hall.
It followed condolences from speakers of the House of Commons and Lords.

He has a strong calming voice. He's been in the shadow in some ways by design but he obviously has prepared for decades, and we're now getting to see him as King and a leader.
I'm being sarcastic when I say thank you for sharing you deep insight.
The Crown is the truth. Also meant as sarcasm.
Correct..
Real emotion as he hears "God save the king". Such a contrast, as you're grieving the loss of your parent and also having to start a new role.

To witness the end of an era of the longest reigning monarch in history and now the crowning of a new king. This is momentous. Not everyone gets to witness this. My mother was 4 years old when the queen was coronated, too young to remember, and died a few years ago from cancer at the age of 65. She never saw the crown change hands.

as a Hungarian I'm very jealous of these wonderful traditions distilled by a lot of suffering and the hard work of principled men and women of your nation throughout the centuries.
You can have them. These are not wonderful traditions, but part of a feudal system that needs to be abolished. The suffering came to millions due to their ancestors, every bit of land they have was stolen, wars they instigated for power and money, enslaving others to grow richer and dominate. Why people ignore the truth about HOW they got their titles and riches is revolting. I do not support an unelected head of state, self-given titles, hereditary roles, wearing medals they have for being a so called royal and people bowing to a human is disgusting. We in the UK are a democracy and there this man is, an adulterer with his ex mistress turned wife sitting on thrones and expecting special treatment all for being born or marrying into it. #REPUBLICUK #NOTMYKING
Excellent. 00:01
Excellent speech by King Charles III. During the singing of the national anthem, he looked very sad. Both houses of parliament conducted themselves impeccably.
Will he return the thousands of stolen artifacts? Will he pay for what his country did in 1938?
@@PROVOCATEURSK what are you talking about you loony
@@PROVOCATEURSK bro he wasn’t even born in 1938. Ask his granddad or something

You could see tears swelling up in his eyes. God save the King
here here GOD save the King
God save the planet.
He's crying because he never thought he would live to hear people sing God save the king for HIM.

Wow... A King Charles in Parliament. The first time that happened, it didn't go so well for the King.
@MsMissy Thank you for your kind words. You may not find many Americans who know English history. Consider my posting a compliment; not an attack.
After all it was Charles the First who gave our American founders something to avoid.
🖤
God bless King Charles III , greetings from Sydney Australia ....may you reign supreme throughout the Common Wealth !!!
This is absolutely vintage kingship. Charles III is a wonderful orator.
actor😉
So beautiful. Glad that "nobody" was there to ruin this. King Charles looks regal. Beautiful, beautiful ceremony.
A moving speech by a strong King. I don't know how he managed it. This must be the most difficult period in his life, losing his beloved mum and answering to the call of duty. God save the King!
It’s weird that this kind of stuff still happens. It’s like straight outta the 1600s lol
I'd rather have a King than whatever they're doing in the United States right now.... Having a King is more Biblically correct
Interesting, I'd say. Maybe even fascinating. The fact that we get to see hundreds of years of tradition right before our very eyes. And the solemn fact that someone has to die for the next in line to ascend to their spot all the while still grieving. It's an incredible thing we get to witness.
It’s amazing to me as an American…I love the tradition and the amazing history this family has. 🥰🥰 I get lost in it, really cool stuff
I believe King Charles III will be a far stronger King than many expect. May the Queen rest in peace with her Prince. God bless the King.
Om Shanti 🙏

I was born knowing "Elizabeth II is the Queen".
I am on my 30's now. I know my wish that may heaven grant her to live forever is impossible. I include her in my silent prayers even though I am not one of their people; even if I didn't had the chance to meet her in this lifetime my heart aches for her.. May she rest in peace.. The Queen, I will miss you.. 😭
.... Mentioned in the Bible by name, if you want to protect your self from the punishment of God Almighty (hellfire), you have to follow him

King Charkes has a beautiful voice, confident speaker
It’s so uncanny to hear “god save the king” after hearing “god save the queen” for so long.
Does anyone else miss the queen already
No but it is sad that she has passed away 😞💔 R.I.P Queen Elizabeth 🥀🙏🥀 she in the arms of her husband Prince Phillip 👸🤵.
Nope not at all
Not one bit
Lizzy’s in a box
Would wanna miss blood thirsty woman who pillaged stole from colonies amassed wealth so huge its covered in blood 😂
Oh my King Charles was getting so emotional. This is so hard to be working like this when you’re in mourning for your mother. He was really affected for his fathers funeral procession as well. In fact it seems he was about to lose it and just wanted to leave so he wouldn’t lose it. This is so hard for him though you’ve known all your life the reality is so different.
He's a criminal and he shall rot in hell. Ask him about Jeff Epstein, Jimmy Savile and his brother, Andy...pedos and human traffickers, all.
We first had Broadcast, Subscription/Cable/Digital/Satellite, and then Streaming.
This is an amazing tradition of history ..wish every nation was democrat enough to carry their monarch blended with democracy ..amazing
An unelected head of state based on heredity isn’t my idea of a democracy.
