love or hate the monarchy, this tradition is beautiful. this is history in the making and it's history still happening before our eyes!
It really is. I like seeing how people are connected to their history and ancestors. We live in a time where everybody wants to do away with traditions, but if you think about it, traditions like this one are the foundation of a nation, a people, a culture. Tradition is what connects people together.

You don’t see or hear it on the video. But I was less than a mile away at The Gaurdsman with my balcony door open, watching on tv. When the crown was seated on his head all of the bass drummers hit their drums at one time. It was loud and pretty incredible.
You can see how he is still mourning his mother, but taking up the responsibility expected of him. It must be very difficult to handle, and accept yet he’s standing strong. A very honorable man.

I missed the actual moment he was crowned but when I got back to the livestream it was still stunning to see him even just wearing it. A literal king on his throne. It’s a historic day for everyone but it’s amazing to think of Prince William and Prince George watching him and knowing each of them is looking at his own eventual future.
It's all meaningless in the grand scheme of things. This is nothing more than a bunch of old people cosplaying a Renaissance Festival in real life and being worshiped like a God.

Oh, I watched it live in Minnesota with my delighted eyes absorbing every detail of the glitz and historical richness. My mom once said I would fit in well with the royals, because I have so much respect and appreciation for this sort of thing. I don't know about the first thing, but the second is definitely true. 😊
The music was glorious throughout the ceremony. The singing superb. The sound perfectly amplified by the church’s structure.

I never understood this.. like it was his fault that his mother never wanted to give up the throne. She held on to it so much that it even negatively impacted him and made a mockery of him. The media just mockingly reflected that behavior.

That crown is really heavy! I remember Her Late Majesty commenting on it as she had to remain real still. I did see it wobble a bit and she did put her hand on it to steady it. She is so proud of her son today. Both of his parents are. Its also sad since he realises if it wasn’t for his mother’s passing he would not be king now. I would be tearing up….
Queen Camilla was always the one for him. Princess Diana gave him two beautiful sons, and was a pinnacle of charity, compassion, strength and elegance - but they were not suited for each other.

In British Law there is no legal mechanism for a reign to end other than death. Unlike in 1936 when Edward VIII abdicated and London could legislate for what was then the British Empire, it would require all 15 of the Commonwealth Realms to pass legislation for the monarch to abdicate plus all 54 nations to elect a new Commonwealth Leader. It's not going to happen Charles, like his mother will reign until he dies.

My mother was the same age as queen Elizabeth. She was a young teenager living in Liverpool during the war. Houses were bombed around her and had a German shooting her and her sister. They ran around a wall. The pilot swung and my mom and her sister ran back around the wall. The pilot tried one more time before flying away. Outfitted by a couple of teenage girls.

When I was a child I enjoyed watching movies about Kings and Kingship. The loyalty of the people to sacrifice themselves to support the "rightful" heir to take the thrown and claim the rightful authority to rule. As a child that seem to be so noble and righteous. A blind faith in the right for a person's right to rule a kingdom or a nation. Then I grew up and learned about the evolution of democracy, republicanism, and the long human struggle to create a government of of the people, by the people, and for the people. Great Britain is one of those countries that transition from Monarchy to Parliamentary government. One foot in the past, one foot in modernity. It seems a lot of people in the UK do not understand how difficult it was to leave Antiquity and the Middle Ages behind and enter the Modern Era. I hope Americans will not forget how a band of 13 independent colonies of King George III fought with their lives to create the Modern Era for all people. As one American commoner once said, "That government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from this earth."
