He passed unexpectedly in 2010 at only 57 but, he could fix, repair or even build anything he put his mind to. When he passed, I wish I knew half of what he had forgotten! I truly enjoy your channel and content. I first watched the "MOOstang" video and immediately subscribed and went to your very first video and am working my way to the top. I'm very close to in the same boat.. My dad passed in 2015, I'm just 44.. Same thing here, my old man could fix anything he touched and I got that from him.. Engineering stuff, building things people tell me could never be done.. yeah. Watch his heater system he build for waste oil, great series.. He gets it done and I think I've watched every video so far and can't wait for the next to come.. Take care!
i wish more people would just take a couple of mins to keep the door drains on the bottom of the door clean of dirt it would keep the doors from rusting out
Don't be jealous. If it's in the budget I can tell you where you can find these trucks running for not a lot of money and still the bodies in decent shape. Now these trucks which I like the Viking 60 series I got two of them. I don't need both of them I just plan to keep the one. I drove 6 hours each way to get some decent old tires and rims. It cost me more gas to go get them then did for that rims and tires. But I looked at a few other things while I was there. One guy well between four guys and the same general area had Studebaker Ford Chevy international and maybe one Dodge that was about two and a half ton trucks. If they aren't in your budget at least they're good to look at. By the way 1967 and newer are not desirable currently by collectors. So you can get them relatively cheap. Plus I have more modern amenities. The six lug Chevy on the large trucks like that well there's no rims that interchange with it. It want to see more just look at my comment on this video which I think the man did a very good job. If you're seriously interested just message me with a reply and I'll get you the information you can call the people we're talking around the $3,000 mark. Can't even get a pickup for that anymore. On the Viking 60s series from the mid 50s through 1966 and the c50 and smaller trucks the cabs interchange of pickups. On the Viking trucks the hood interchanges with pickups. The fender and grill is different. If that helps any
There's a number them out there in farm country that's for sure they're available. Might be a longer drive from out there in Kansas and similar places. And they are great trucks for that
I was born and raised in Michigan, and spent most of my life fighting the rust when working on vehicles, and exhaust was the worst. I recently moved to the Southwest and what a difference ! I no longer dread exhaust work. I just recently worked on a 1970 Cadillac Eldorado that had been sitting in the desert for 30 years. All the rubber lines and hoses were shot, but steel lines for brakes and fuel were pristine, like they rolled off the assembly line yesterday. I didn't have to mess with the exhaust because it is in great shape, but just a little surface rust on it and the hardware wouldn't have been a problem. Now, rubber, plastic, and Pack Rat damage ... That's another story ! 😁🏜
Would you please make sure that truck gets driven. I'm 70 now but when I was 18, I had a 1967 C-50 with a 292 big 6 and a1970 GMC 5500 with a 350 V-8 and a 1970 C-50 with a 350 V-8. Those were wonderful old trucks but my loads outgrew my trucks. A really great video. Thanks for all those trips you made to the house.❤🐘🇺🇸
It's a chevy, 8 cylinders, 6 cylinders, it don't care how many are working, she'll still run and get ya home! I saw an old 350 with a rod through the oil pan. Still ran fine, just made a LOT of noise!
The same thing happened to my thermostat housing. Bolts broke off. That was super fun fixin. 😒 Not sure where that truck is located, but it looks very familiar.......like I've seen it on the road years ago. The brake lines.....my Fury was the same way. Rotted at every metal hanger. Fix one hole, it blows out somewhere else. Lol. Just had to replace the entire line. And that JB weld is awesome. Works for everything. I knew someone that JB welded a crack in their block, and it actually lasted. Couldn't believe it. That truck there........she makin you replace everything on her. 😄 that farmers gonna have to pay for a new truck it seems after all that repair 😆 And you're lucky. Here in SC, layin on the ground, only gets you eaten by fire ants. Lol. There's not a single square foot where there's no ants.

That tobacco being smoke cured is one of the things I miss about living down there. I've worked tobacco fields up here when I was a kid, but here it's just air-cured and it's just not the same, lol. Only time it was ever close was when we'd be baling the leaves in a wood box, compressing it with 2 bumper jacks rigged up for the purpose in a side room off the tobacco barn and heating the room with a little cast iron stove.
I have a 1968 C-60 also with the 327. It has 64k original miles on it. Two speed trans, etc. The way it is set up, it MUST be fully choked to start (even if it was 100 degrees outside) and will not start unless you do. Once she starts you must ease the choke in as the operating temp comes up and really, she doesn't get warmed up properly for about ten minutes. A buddy has the same set up and his is the exact same way.
Man looking at that tobacco field behind you brings back a thousand memories. I've hoed, topped, chopped, hung, and stripped what seems like a thousand acers of tobacco. Nothing like going into case at three in the morning... makes for a long day.
Two weekends ago I was looking through RUclips trying to find something interesting came across your channel. It makes me feel so good knowing there's someone out there that loves old cars and trucks destined for the bone yard, I own 3 truck's, and 2 car's a 63 Impala, 53 Bellaire, they run great, not afraid to get into them and go. My trucks I have a 1969 c 10, 1979 Silverado, they also run and drive great, I also have a 1962 f100 uni body it needs to undergo a heart transplant, it came with a straight 6, not sure what size it is, I found a 302 to build up and a automatic transmission, I do my own work except for the short block, I do have a 2017 for my wife and grand kids. Give me a vehicle from the 60's and 70's any time, HOA is bitching about the my car's and trucks threatening to fine me and possibly towing them, I hope I'm not boring you death, but I do love to talk shop.

On the small block Chevvies with ramshorn exhaust manifolds, we found it of utility to use brass nuts on the exhaust studs. Never had one seize but that a nut cracker couldn't get it off, or a sharp, small chisel on the inside stud. 😎 Usually on the Rochester 2GV's a low range stumble is from an air leak - often through the throttle shaft. Nice work bringing this one back. Thanks for bringing us along.
Reminds me of working with my Dad, he used to work on all sorts of stuff and just being around him allowed me to learn how to fix my own cars--even did a few engines swaps with him. I miss my Dad and I miss those days...

Water pumps and exhausts are about the same. You can drill tiny holes from the outside. Douse it in PB blaster and let it soak. This will free it up inside the casing. That rust has seized it I to place. This happened on my waterpump on my 89' Grand Marque. Head snapped off the bolt on the upper right side. I was told by a Dodge guy, that if you use 3/16 drill bit and drill several holes onto the housing, spray with lubricant and vice grip them puppies out. Good thing is that the wayerpump bolts always break in the same hole, and it will break off with about a 1/4 inch of that shaft sticking out of the hole. With that exhaust, same thing, except use a death grinder to flatten 2 sided of the bolt head to fasten you vicegrips to.
I sure hope you billed him for everything including your time , you must have a good 40 hrs including drive time ( hard to tell by your video ) your time is worth something don’t you think and he’s getting his farm truck back !
That old truck was tired of sitting in th same place! I had one just like that but it wasn't a dump bed. I made absolutely stupid money with that truck, at 55 mph. It had a real slow leak in th rear main seal... not fast enuf to cake on, but th oil never got very dirty. So I just ran Rotella 15/40 in th crankcase, and changed th filter from time to time. I miss that old truck. Good times.🎉
Bubba that platform on those tall trucks are great , i bought one that goes over the tire and is expendable to fit many sizes . its good to get you right up in the work area !
Seeing this truck brought back some memories of my childhood :) This Was first truck i ever drove and first manual too, was 13 and was driving and doing lumber deliveries way off in the bush for the loggers to build homes for the summer . Next time you work on a carb with a leather acc pump, take it out of the kit when you start on it. Spread (expand) it and put it in some atf. It will swell up and fit the bore better...........
I know JB Weld is the go-to but if you have a local O'Reilly's there is a product there that works absolutely Bulletproof it is called Red Kote. You can put it on the outside of a fuel tank or the inside and same goes for something like that filter pretty good product I used it on my motorcycle gas tank and believe me when I tell you after the acid wash it was not so good, but after using the Red Kote it's perfect. Over a year later and she still holding strong. I just thought I'd let you know about it if you didn't know already it's definitely a product that I would stand behind and probably a whole lot of others, it was made for industrial fuel tanks inside and out. Keep doing what you doing man I'm having fun watching you every single minute. Many blessings to you and your family
I like that truck. The 327 is a great engine. It doesn't have a four bolt main. Back in day I knew plenty of guys who tore up the crank and them in their dump trucks. I have a 1959 and 1960 Vikings series 60 trucks same size as this one. I like to get a 67 so I can have one of each body style. Two I have had dumping beds because they're grain trucks. They're not show trucks and I use them to work as I need them. But it's just something different than the other guys with their pickups. Besides he's a more affordable. I've got the equivalent of the box body in a c50 as well. But it's a box truck with no freehoff box on back that probably came from the 60s originally. Well I think everybody's got to collect something and I do like these trucks. I like how you just kept going at it and going at it and not only are you getting it to run but you are getting it to where he can use it again. I enjoyed your video

You better make sure those legs are locked on that aluminum platform. I didn’t have one side locked on mine and when I was working on my truck the side I didn’t lock gave way and I fell and broke my foot. BE CAREFUL MY FRIEND!
That's a purdy nice old truck, it just needs a little TLC, I think when he gets those hoses put on, it aughta take off and go just fine,just like a brand new one.

Also shocked me 327 2 barrel carb Rochester on with hand choke cable still ! I thought might got 4 barrel carb with Manual choke upgraded years back to Lol ! Also I remember those trucks surprises me did have orgnail as 292 6 cylinder motor plus Rochester 2 barrel carb and 5 speed Manual transmission floor shifter only or have upgraded 350 V8 4 barrel and 10 speed Manual transmission floor shifter with air brakes too lots farmers do that to those trucks in my area!

Now that's a great old truck that you have done a wonderful job getting back and running 👍 I had a 64 GMC 7 ton with a split rear end dump truck. 401 V6 would do 55 mph fully loaded or empty didn't matter, and got about 4 MI to the gallon 😂 I absolutely loved that truck. Hey it's got the good ole OIL BATH BREATHER TOO! NICE OLE TRUCK FO-SHOW! CAN'T BEAT THE OLD 327 AND THE 283'S LOVE EM BOTH!! I have an old 66 GMC that had the big block 305 V6, it had a 2 barrel Stromberg, it had that same hesitation too! I personally think it was a poor pump design on it, I was going to go to the 2g Rochester before it spun number 4 rod bearing,now it's sitting on the side! Good videos sir keep them coming, maybe next year I'll see you at ADAMS THRESHERMAN SHOW!

I've used those on brake lines as long as I've worked on brakes I'm 64 no problem with them

That old truck was tired of sitting in th same place! I had one just like that but it wasn't a dump bed. I made absolutely stupid money with that truck, at 55 mph. It had a real slow leak in th rear main seal... not fast enuf to cake on, but th oil never got very dirty. So I just ran Rotella 15/40 in th crankcase, and changed th filter from time to time. I miss that old truck. Good times.🎉

Bubba that platform on those tall trucks are great , i bought one that goes over the tire and is expendable to fit many sizes . its good to get you right up in the work area !

Seeing this truck brought back some memories of my childhood :) This Was first truck i ever drove and first manual too, was 13 and was driving and doing lumber deliveries way off in the bush for the loggers to build homes for the summer . Next time you work on a carb with a leather acc pump, take it out of the kit when you start on it. Spread (expand) it and put it in some atf. It will swell up and fit the bore better...........

I know JB Weld is the go-to but if you have a local O'Reilly's there is a product there that works absolutely Bulletproof it is called Red Kote. You can put it on the outside of a fuel tank or the inside and same goes for something like that filter pretty good product I used it on my motorcycle gas tank and believe me when I tell you after the acid wash it was not so good, but after using the Red Kote it's perfect. Over a year later and she still holding strong. I just thought I'd let you know about it if you didn't know already it's definitely a product that I would stand behind and probably a whole lot of others, it was made for industrial fuel tanks inside and out. Keep doing what you doing man I'm having fun watching you every single minute. Many blessings to you and your family
I like that truck. The 327 is a great engine. It doesn't have a four bolt main. Back in day I knew plenty of guys who tore up the crank and them in their dump trucks. I have a 1959 and 1960 Vikings series 60 trucks same size as this one. I like to get a 67 so I can have one of each body style. Two I have had dumping beds because they're grain trucks. They're not show trucks and I use them to work as I need them. But it's just something different than the other guys with their pickups. Besides he's a more affordable. I've got the equivalent of the box body in a c50 as well. But it's a box truck with no freehoff box on back that probably came from the 60s originally. Well I think everybody's got to collect something and I do like these trucks. I like how you just kept going at it and going at it and not only are you getting it to run but you are getting it to where he can use it again. I enjoyed your video

You better make sure those legs are locked on that aluminum platform. I didn’t have one side locked on mine and when I was working on my truck the side I didn’t lock gave way and I fell and broke my foot. BE CAREFUL MY FRIEND!
That's a purdy nice old truck, it just needs a little TLC, I think when he gets those hoses put on, it aughta take off and go just fine,just like a brand new one.

Excellent video Chad :) also nice farmer got in touch with you fix old farm stake truck and was lots fun seeing get up running again plus test drive too! Also shocked me 327 2 barrel carb Rochester on with hand choke cable still ! I thought might got 4 barrel carb with Manual choke upgraded years back to Lol ! Also I remember those trucks surprises me did have orgnail as 292 6 cylinder motor plus Rochester 2 barrel carb and 5 speed Manual transmission floor shifter only or have upgraded 350 V8 4 barrel and 10 speed Manual transmission floor shifter with air brakes too lots farmers do that to those trucks in my area!

Now that's a great old truck that you have done a wonderful job getting back and running 👍 I had a 64 GMC 7 ton with a split rear end dump truck. 401 V6 would do 55 mph fully loaded or empty didn't matter, and got about 4 MI to the gallon 😂 I absolutely loved that truck. I was almost ready to start hollering at the tv to check the timing and then you said timing. Old stretched chains cause spitting back from carb and crappy idle and acceleration!

Hey it's got the good ole OIL BATH BREATHER TOO! NICE OLE TRUCK FO-SHOW! CAN'T BEAT THE OLD 327 AND THE 283'S LOVE EM BOTH!! I have an old 66 GMC that had the big block 305 V6, it had a 2 barrel Stromberg, it had that same hesitation too! I personally think it was a poor pump design on it, I was going to go to the 2g Rochester before it spun number 4 rod bearing,now it's sitting on the side! Good videos sir keep them coming, maybe next year I'll see you at ADAMS THRESHERMAN SHOW!
So awesome to view your efforts and seeing that old bruiser run again. Back in the day I drove a new 71 C50 bobtail, delivering furniture all over the SF bay area. I loved driving that truck ! Thought I was king of the road. lol.
