It's always satisfying seeing things done old school. It is truly rare to see a tire swap without a tire machine these days! Awesome video!
I had a tech put a new tire on my bucket truck out in the field. He was a younger guy but had skills beyond his age, did it all with long irons and leverage, probably faster than using a machine, all the while having a conversation with me. I was impressed.
68 is one of my favorite full size Fords, but there was just not much left of that one at all. I'm glad you found something savable.
If you have to cut that one stubborn bolt put on the socket that fits. Use it as a guide to drill a hole in the bolt to make it thinner, then hit it with a LENOX Armor Curved Bi-Metal Metal Cutting Reciprocating Saw Blade.

I'm happy to see you made it through that expedition with all limbs intact, all be it bruised. Lol. I grew up on a large farm in NW Arkansas and had very little money. I spent a lot of time scavenging for parts to keep our vehicles moving down the road. I guess it's the grace of God that guys like us are still breathing and can still count to ten if you know what I mean. Stay safe brother. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
The broke farm life lol.. still wouldn't want it any other way I learned to do a lot with vehicles and stuff like tailgate rebuild starters and hei gm distributors and disassemble them and change the pickup coil and the distributor gear and shim and put the distributor back together.
Man there's some really really cool vehicles out there. Would make some really fun and cool will it run videos. That ford econoline van and that wagon would both make really cool videos.

I remember hunting for those factory narrowed ford Grenada rearends back in the day , a mustang swap was its home .
It's nice having your own personal parts store in the woods. You need to follow up with a bruise and cut count. LOL
Man I felt every one of those sudden impact encounters with those old parts! I know your disclaimer says DON'T DO WHAT I DO! Why didn't you just roll her over too and bring the Gas/Axe out? Gotta take my hat's off to your persistence! I'm that way myself! 32 years of heavy industrial steam fitting has taken it toll! Neck, rotator cups, wrists, hips, knees, got a good back though LOL! My Dad use to say to me "Boy, you could wear out an anvil with a fly swatter!"

For stuck bolts, use a penetrating oil, and then also use a torch to expand the metal and break the fusion of metal, however a great forest fire hazard!

Metal on metal is fairly slick mating surface bub... I wish you would throw a log or old wheel under there with you that way if one of those jacks stands slipped it might keep from crushing ya... Just an old Trick Daddy told me when I was a kid

It's a shame about the glass on the wagon. Those Fairmonts have a pretty big following now. Would be cool to see her old car back in the road. Little turbo charged LS in it haha
An actual scene worth framing! A shady spot with a little breeze, to keep the 'skeeters and no-see ums away. Easy to work on 'work like a gentleman! And having as much fun as a feller can standing up !! Addicted viewer!
If the main leaf on "Lockjaw" is intact, just take the spring packs apart, use the main leaves from LJ and the remainder of the pack from the red truck.
Nice to get that 9 inch rear end. LTD's are great for parts to go onto older Galaxies, Fairlanes and so on. If there's disco brakes left on the front end of that LTD they'll be a direct swap onto that 64 wagon you have [or Galaxy 64 if you have one]. Same goes for a Gran Torino or Galaxy of that 70's era. Be cool to make a jig for bending up tube control arms of that era of front end as well [you have a tube bender right? Thought I saw one]. Cool video sir. Love the content. All great stuff to watch 🙂

been working as a car mechanic here in germany for 25 years, and ym fingers show the telltale signs of it... cuts, bruises, even burns. so, I feel you. XD
dunno about that Country Squire, if the black looks better than the light blue, somehow both are fine. I'd still grab that rooftop, and as much trim as I could get off the wreck in one piece, because those pieces are the most expensive. and with the rooftop you could repair the others'.
I also like your "a shame to throw away" attitude. :) you never know who would need that part. :)
and that gear is clearly off a 1ton truck, judging by the weight. XD

Ain't it funny how some lives coincide , i bought my Mother a Cavalier station wagon when my Grandmother got sick and Mom needed to go up and help care for her and her old car wasn't reliable to run back and forh . Well i did all the upgrades tune up , tires , brakes , wipers blades , well when it came time for a muffler i was bought out of money and a cherry bomb was cheap so Mom became "Granny with a Glasspack" !!

Bubba i swung a tire hammer for 30 years , but back in my street racing days the shop i worked at had a Manuel tire machine . While shops broke the centers out of the old Crager SS wheels , i was using the manuel changer to switch out slicks for my buddies and my self . We talking way before the rim clamp machines . Well i was going to Harbor Frieght to find a tire hammer and irons like you have and bingo they had one of the manuel machines like i used back in the day . That made a great big differance in my switching tires at home. . You may want to look into one .

Get carbide blades for your sawzaw. I know they’re expensive but they last a good while and cut through damn near anything

My son's International engine is a 1947 KB1. The displacement on these beauties is, 233 cu in. Just so you know, the engine serial number, is the vehicle registration number. Some truck frames aren't even marked.
The R series KB1 and 2 engines, are a massive 240 cu in. Back in 1961, I had a job driving a 1 ton box with that engine. It was a joke, driving it on the highway.

Every pop and cracking sound I heard, I just knew that window was toast. Those old curved glasses can be quite tricky to get out sometimes! Again, another great video and I'm already ready for the next one!

Weld a steel pipe into the tire hammer and see how long it takes to fall off.
I actually really like that Fairmont station wagon. Ever since my parents had that 75 Country Squire wagon, I've had a soft spot for wagons.

That red C20 couldn’t possibly be a Tennessee truck. With that much rust it must have spent at least a few years up in the rust belt!
When we change a tire we use an wedge made out of an old model T axel my grandpa found in the woods in the 60’s

It's detached due to rust. Paint scheme won't match either.

Maybe they were thinking about converting that LTD into electric. Lol. I'd probly clean and rebuild that electric motor and sell it.....or take the copper out of it. That car musta been sitting there most it's life. That's some BAD rot. I mean really bad. That truck.......even worse! My gosh! The rot! Had to have been northern vehicles. My Oldsmobile Delta 88 was rotted all over too. When the wrench slipped and you hit your hand, I immediately went ooooooooo, cuz I recently did that but there was a skinny sapling stump my finger hit and it went right into my finger by my nail. Oooooo it hurt and I cussed. Lol. You got my luck. One thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong. Days like that, it's just time to call it quits and restart another day. Lol. And it's cool you actually found something on that truck that was usable. That truck is seriously stripped now.

Easiest way to bust tires off a bead is to lay a two foot long 2x4 on the tire to the ground and drive up on it with your vehicle. Be sure your vehicle sits high enough so it don't come down on top of the wheel your working with.

I wonder how many properties there are down Tennessee and Mississippi and all the Southern states there, I just wonder how many yards there are like yours and your neighbors out there.. just full FULL of old cars (some junk, some relics!) I can't WAIT to be done with New Jersey and get the HECK back down south man.. Life is SO much better in the woods, and even in South Jersey (I'm not NY, I'm south) the woods are disappearing every year for houses.. and all the people from up north (north of ME of all) come down and think they're living the country life.. they have NO idea.. : )

St. Louis Spring hadn’t listed for $200 but the problem with newly springs and I have too much our channel set it up. Why do I in the rear if they’re like the ones I got for my 67 Camaro.

Best way to pull leaf spring packs at the junkyard and mind I hate removing leaf spring packs at the junkyard is the blue wrench because without heat the bushings are not coming out
