@@Capture_Torture_LiberalsYou know you're still supposed to pay a tax stamp even if you make them yourself, right? Please excuse this long comment - you're helping a beginner here, and I've got so many questions. I know this is an old video, but I'm trying to learn & I'd appreciate it if any of the 70k subs have time to answer any of these questions. 1. Obviously these shells are all subsonic - does a suppressor affect the audio footprint of a supersonic load at all? 2. What's the relevance of shot size/type/how many pellets shot thru a suppressed shotgun? (00 vs birdshot, etc) 3. What about slugs? Rifled or not? Does one suppressor handle them all? 4. Accuracy affected? 5. Is velocity increased due to the extension of the barrel? Do shotguns benefit from longer barrels like hunting rifle calibers re: velocity? 6. Does the fact the shot isn't necessarily in a super-specific, single projectile as it leaves the breech (e.g. boat tail bullet vs a bunch of pellets heading the same direction) mean the suppressor? 7. Do shotgun suppressors screw onto the barrel (do they need threading just like rifles)? If so, they must have to be digital precise, since they're not always round? Brass bead sights possible? 8. Do - or can - the suppressors act as a choke? If so, are they adjustable? 9. Do 20gauge with similar velocities sound considerably quieter? Would break-barrels benefit from quietest audio footprint due to enclosed action? Pump louder, autoloader loudest? 10. I never heard of 'harmonics' mentioned re: shotguns. Why would someone NOT choose to suppress their shot, other than the added weight/lengtht? 11. Is it added length or girth (grade 7 me giggling at this one) on a shotgun suppressor that makes it quieter? 12. The internal design of the suppressor - does it 'trust' the trajectory of multiple projectiles passing through it in a tight pattern? There seems to be more risk of 'bevel strikes'... 13. Is the first few inches of the suppressor more or less "hollowed out" like hunting & rimfire suppressors, to accommodate the initial muzzle drama, allowing for incrementing layers/bevels to catch as much of the 'spent' energy as possible? I saw a couple of British guys hunting (culling) crows for farmers with suppressed .410 autoloaders, and it was hard to know if it was just the audio on the video, or if they were really as quiet as a polite cough. Here in Canada, we're allowed to own most types of bolt/lever/semi-auto rifles up to 7376 ft-lbs, which includes the ".577 Nitro Express", which a few people buy just on principle - but I've got no aspirations for anything fatter than a 45-70, and nothing flatter than, say, 7mmRm or 300PRC. I plan to keep my fun smaller than a moose/bear and closer than 2 km's. Without ever having pulled a trigger, I can walk into a gun shop & legally buy that 577 Nitro Express, with as much ammo as I can carry, within maybe 20mins - no waiting time. It's a weird privilege, but there's only one database, it's federal & it's updated every 5 seconds, which makes it convenient at least. All suppressors are illegal here. I'm talking even cheap plastic baffles on a hardware store pellet gun (< 500fps isn't even a firearm here, but even a piece of PVC pipe duct taped to the barrel will get your firearms license suspended). You can carry knives legally here, which is illegal in western Europe, but you're actually encouraged to get suppressors in the UK, Australia, all of the EU, New Zealand & of course, the USA & South Africa. I just want to be a good neighbor to people who live near shooting ranges. I can buy that 577 Nitro, but I can't make my toy pellet gun quieter. Frustrating, but I'm playing by the rules 'cause I love shooting, always liked guns. Not a hunter, just a hobbyist. I live close to the US border, though (couple of hrs from Calais, Maine), and I intend to take whatever hunting rifle I settle on to the 'States, to a couple of ranges over the course of a long weekend or so - and either borrow or rent or maybe even buy & store a suppressor there. I'm just not able to take it back into Canada. I'm getting my first pump action 12 gauge next week (it's on order, just a cheap one), and I want to know if there's something I need to do to prep it for any potential suppression. I'm assuming a 12 gauge suppressor is rarer & more expensive.
Bad ass!!! I have a Salvo, but was wanting a Seg to put on my Saiga 12 SBS. The Salvo lives on a Keltec KSG. I know a lot of people think low of the KSG, but it’s an awesome host for the Salvo.
Funny you should bring this up. The Mossberg 590 series barrels are very beefy and can be external threaded by a good gunsmith and use the Silencerco Salvo 12 KSG adapter. Now I can suppress a 590M A Shockwave 590M A regular Shockwave And my 930 with the Silencerco choke type adapter. Now if they would do away with the ATF we could all go on about our business and the pursuit of happiness. And I can put an appropriate collapsible shock absorbing stock on my Shockwave. SBS.
I want to get suppressors for my wife's keltech 410 and my tokarev tar 12. The 410 isn't that loud but with the hollow point slugs she bought, im sure the damage it would cause would be stupendous.
@ I’ve seen videos of guys using .46 cal cans on 410 shotguns. They suggest using it for slug only. I know the Silencerco hybrid works with .410, a guy named pigsnguns has done some videos on it bye did say Sico won’t honor warranty if you use on 410. I believe a 12ga can would be too loud because of the bore diameter on 410.
Interesting to see the difference in flame ejecting the end of the barrel between rounds, visible with both firearms. Inconsistent powder charge from the factory?
