The end of the movie was a reference to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". I don't know if you have seen that one. It's an often copied scene which makes it worth seeing just on that point.
I've seen this ten times and never realized that. Too good. One more laugh. Thanks!
Right down to the bathrobe!
Which means if she hasn't...It's time for "Bueller....Bueller?"
Yes ferris bueller is masterpiece
chicka-chicka-chicka-chickaaaah!
I always find it funny that Deadpool is asking people where Francis is when he knows that nobody except him knows his name is Francis.
Good point! On the other hand, the people who know him as Ajax probably aren't going to give him up, either.
@@michaelccozens but the guy that recruited wade knew who wade was and who he was after, he seemed more than happy to give him up. I mean logically he should have started with that guy, the one guy he knew, instead of somehow mapping out all these random underlings but it's a fun little bit.
This movie is the perfect mixture of "mature" and completely immature. Loved your reaction.
The reference about the Professor Xavier's mansion being empty is because in the previous x-men films the house is teeming with kids and other x-men (as this is actually a school for x-men) and because this film was made on a tight budget of about 58 million, they could not afford all the required extra's so they cut them out plus made big changes to the big action set piece at the end of the film as Deadpool was going to be using the guns that he had packed but to get around the plot hole of why he didn't use them, he had conveniently left them in the taxi. It was going to be asround 80 to 100 million but days before principal photography was to start the studio decided to slash the budget to the 58 million.
Once again studio executives making dumb decisions.
@@ronweber1402 Hindsight is 20/20. No one can tell if a film will actually make double its production budget (cause they seperate the production and marketing)in order to break even and start profiting from it.
There have been films made on less than $10 million but grossed over $100 million, but made significantly less than that.
@theIronwolf1984 it's a little confusing but basically the character rights issue is just for use in the MCU or other studio's movies. Fox and Sony, or whatever other studio owns characters, can use their own characters in their own movies. They need cooperation in order to cross over in other movies. Marvel has always been the producer in all the movies since at least Blade. The reason they weren't used here was because of the budget as referenced by Deadpool. Fox had the X-Men rights at the time and could've used any of the other X-Men that they wanted to, just like they did for part 2. Marvel was just the producer on this, just as they do with their other movies.
@@willbeonekenobi Or you could, like, have faith in a passion project of a dedicated star surrounded by talented people? You know, the project you approved?
I fail to see the wisdom in deciding to do something and then halving the resources you decide to dedicate to making your risk a successful one. If you're going to stake your reputation on someone walking a tight-rope, choosing at the last moment to make them do it on one leg seems... maybe not great?
Lots of people can take a good guess at which films will succeed. They're called "film investors". It's kinda all they do.
This movie came out on Valentine's Day, so they created a special "RomCom" poster to fool people into thinking it was a good movie to take your date on :D
Is it not? I would take a date to this.
I don't know why, but it made me so happy to hear you say, "Is that Inara?" Thank you
9:50 Those Liam Neeson movies are the Taken franchise. The first movie is absolutely worth a reaction watch! Gets pretty derivative after that, though. Liam Neeson "just wasn't having it" is a comedic understatement. The guy action movie hero's himself across half of Paris, shooting or punching most everyone he meets.
" Viva " Taken (1) "! " " Hey! "
I enjoyed taken 3 a lot more than 2 the third one is still pretty good
At the very least a reaction to the first movie is absolutely worth it
The first Taken movie unrated. A little better.
Never would have suspected this going in but “Deadpool” is a top tier superhero movie. The sequel is a ton of fun and filled with so much heart. Great franchise so far. Will be curious to see what Disney does with it now that they own the Fox properties.
disney is gonna pg-13 the crap out of it
@@craigime nope kevin feigie said it will be rated r and will most likely be the only rated r thing they do for now
@@tokehella899 I also heard that, though not from Feigie's mouth.
@@tokehella899 i hope that's true
It's taking way to long for the 3rd one and they canceled X-Force so all hope is lost for this franchise. Marvel has lost their touch.
I love this movie. And since Mari give it 10 out of 10 "yikes!", I will anxiously await her review of Deadpool 2.
Sadly the second one was no where near as the first. Bigger Budget does not equal better writing
@@txaggievet That's quite subjective, though. I enjoyed the second one just as much
@@txaggievet For me, the 2nd film was much better because it seemed more rounded and the story was also more interesting. The first film was a good introduction to his character.
Same here!
Here for the ‘Neee!’, ‘Eikes…’ and ‘Mor allez!’. Didn’t disappoint. 😁
As others have mentioned, to get the most out of this movie (although you've already watched it), and Deadpool 2, it is highly recommended that you watch the XMen movies universe. Because of mild spoilers, and some pretty good movies themselves (some), you would really enjoy the Xmen movies. They helped start what the MCU and Spider Man movies are today.
Most.
Please consider reacting to "Kick-Ass". That movie paved the way for Deadpool.
Good idea!
I also would like to see her reaction to "Kick-Ass.
" Viva la Chloe Grace Moretz! "
Throwing my hat in the ring for the Mission: Impossible series!!! The most recent one is one of my favourite action movies of all time. Great reaction as always, Mary!
SECONDED, yes please!
That would be a fun series for Mary.
That would be awesome but maybe skip MI2
The third one is great.
@@TheSparkeyOne 2 is way too crazy to skip, I mean she's runnin a react channel and there's plenty to react to in it lol
They start off solid and get better and better with each outing . The last one was amazing
Your reactions were everything I expected. So glad you took the time to react to it. The second one is just as good.
Mari, remember during GoT when they unexpectedly changed the actor for the character of Daario Naharis. This movie is the reason why. Ed Skrein, the original Daario, plays Ajax in this movie.
He made the right choice. For both franchises.
Id recommend watching the X-Men and Wolverine/Logan movies before you watch the second film if you haven't already watched Deadpool 2.
Has a massive spoiler for the very last X-Men film at the very start of Deadpool 2, and will also make some of the X-Men references in both make sense
Fun fact, breaking 4th wall is actual comic deadpool superpower
I'm not sure it's so much a "superpower" as a side-effect of his knowledge that he's a character in a comic book.
Or he's just nuts. Six of one.
@@michaelccozens THIS IS HIS ACTUAL POWER Christ... you cant be ''not sure'' of something that is 100% legit... Its like you would said youre not sure about that Real will win champions league after the final.
leon the professional
lol YES! It's Inara from Firefly ;)
"She wants to sit on his face. Yes!" I love your reactions.
Deadpool is joining the MCU. Disney bought the company who made the X-Men and Deadpool movies
@@Zombiesnyder13 They've already ruined so much.
@@Zombiesnyder13 Considering that the recent Spiderman movies are very good superhero movies (the last one being the best MCU movie of this phase), and Into The Spiderverse is fantastic, I'm fairly certain your assessment is a bit off. As for Hulk, they don't even have the rights to him, so how did they ruin him? They weren't allowed to use him.
@@MravacKid Sony made the Spider-Man movie. Di$ney is producing garbage M-She-U now.
I love this movie so much, I get Google alerts whenever people watch it for the first time. I hope you loved it as much as I did! And definitely make sure to do the sequel! 😁
Haha I never heard about that, but that is amazing!
I would be curious how to do that
@@notmee2388 It's pretty simple. In your Gmail account where you set up Google alerts, just set up an alert for it. I use the keywords Deadpool, Movie, First Time, Reaction, 2016, and I usually get the alert within a few minutes of when reaction goes up, since Google is directly linked to RUclips.
That laugh is.... unique
Her laugh reminds me of Eddie Murphy's. Unique in the best way, it's so cute and endearing like Mary herself :) I could listen to her laugh and talk all day.
The end where he's talking in the hallway is a spoof on "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" from the mid 80's
The Liam Neeson line was referring to the Taken series. I highly recommend adding the first one to your viewing list. The other two I wouldn't bother with.
Might be worth watching the one scene where they do something like 17 cuts in 4 seconds to try to make senior-citizen Neeson scaling a fence seem action-y (Neeson's great, but it's not exactly a display of gymnast-level dexterity), if only for the demonstration of the limits of editing.
Yes, there is a second one, but you should probably watch the X-Men movies before since it has a lot more references to the franchise. And supposedly he's coming into the MCU in the 3rd one, which is in pre-production, so we may see even more Marvel connections
At about 3:19 when you say "these jokes are a lot more mature than I anticipated" I laughed and thought oh, boy you're in for a wild ride.
Deadpool is like the imperfectly perfect hero, nobody asked ,but every one hoped for . Love your reaction. The one liers and references here was well protraited by None other than my fav Ryan Reynolds is just sick
Such a fun and funny movie, still so even after all these years! Great reaction as always kiddo!
Another great reaction! I love that wades ability wasn't healing from the cancer in the comics, the cancer takes over every cell in his body and causes rapid regeneration. He's in constant agony which makes his outlook/humour more and more grim as time goes on.
"Taken" was the Liam Neason movie trilogy he mentioned. You should watch the first one.
The "structure" where the end fight is, is a Shield Hovercarrier in drydock for repair, or for scraping, take your pick. Deadpool not being officially part of the MCU at the time, they couldn't use it as a reference, but its there as an easter egg
As the director put it, "It's anything *but* the Helicarrier", with an implied wink you could see from Saturn.
Nice reaction! Glad you enjoyed it.
Warning about Deadpool 2 though, it has a spoiler for Logan.
Yup!
13:22 yo that's actually an incredible point. He could have already manifested the ability to look at a bank robber and make them surrender, but they didn't have him look at a bank robber so they had no idea. I mean I assume they do SOME testing in between tortures to look for a change, but the thing for which they're looking, some rando mutation, could be something they don't know how to identify
In that first X-Men movie they did, as I recall, say the DNA is actually altered, but even if I'm to assume they're testing his DNA after every round, it could still mutate in a subtle way they can't detect, at least potentially, no...?
Which to be fair, they're some rogue "bad guy" group, honestly even if they're aware of that possibility they prolly don't care, if they can't find it it might as well not exist to them so they might as well keep torturing until they DO see something or the patient expires and they certainly don't care about the patients............
But....... you're working with a limited resource (humans with no family and no hope) AND you have to get lucky with the patients for them to mutate, so as much as I understand they prolly don't care about going too hard and expiring a patient and just finding another, you _would_ think they should have the patience to at least keep anybody who doesn't SEEM to mutate around in a cell somewhere just in case something does manifest down the line or when exposed to a specific stimuli................. You can reduce a lot of waste that way I'd have to imagine (ie wasted effort and time on people who could actually have mutated); paying for a few extra months of food rations has to be cheaper than running all those tests on 400 now expired people 57 of whom could have mutated without them knowing
I’m so glad you are up to dead pool now.
The sequel has 2 versions. The kid friendly and equally funny version, or the awesome naughty movie.
Deadpool technically is not a standalone movie. It kind of seemed like you missed a good amount of references to the X-Men movies that came before it. Also, some other random movie/pop culture references but it seemed like you still enjoyed it so not that big a deal I guess haha. This movie really does have a fair amount of highs and lows with the comedic parts and more serious scenes. Such a great movie. I'm glad they were able to keep it rated "R". It gave them the freedom to stay true to the character.
Deadpool is always breaking the 4th wall because he's the only character that knows he's a comic so he can see the audience.
The blind woman is the actress who played Lt. Uhura in the original Star Trek tv series in the 1960s.
Blind Al is played by Leslie Uggams. Uhura was played by Nichelle Nichols
@@steverussell1965 I stand corrected.
9:49 Referring to the movie(s) "Taken". Neeson's daughter is kidnapped and he goes through everything to get her back.
OK Ferris Bueller needs to be a must see now. :)
The movie they were talking about at the start with Liam Neeson and the kidnapped daughter is called Taken. But, if I had to recommend a really good Liam Neeson movie that's a little different than the movies you've been watching, consider reacting to the movie The Grey. It is a fantastic movie, and a real look into the will to survive and human nature. It didn't get the big Hollywood treatment, and for the most part just slid under the radar. Even if you don't react to it, watch it if you get the chance. Well worth it.
I'm still mad at myself for not watching The Grey earlier than I did. It's so good.

@@Jumpman67 "The Wolverine" it was called "Wolverine Immortal" in some countries for some reason
Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy are my favorite "superhero movies". Because of the humor and the soundrack (that in both movies often contributes to the humor or the story way better than in any other movies of this kind i have seen)
Watching you dance to DMX is largely why I’m here, and you didn’t disappoint.
there's a joke that gets overlooked. Wade was hunting down, torturing and killing bad guys in order to find Francis...
it was just unfortunate, the bad guys never knew that their boss Ajax, was formerly named Francis.
"Big Trouble In Little China", starring Kurt Russel and directed by John Carpenter, is a fun movie to watch and to watch people react to.
"A lot of Chevrolets were hurt in the making of this movie." 🤣 I guess that's because no one has thought to create a Chevrolet Humane organization yet. 😝
The scene where he ordered a pizza in someone’s apartment to get at the delivery guy was in the comics. Except he straight up killed the guy.
You have to check out Deadpool 2 too. There is also a third part coming.
Fun fact, in the Deadpool comics, Deadpool was asked what he looks like under the mask, and his response was “ a mixture of Ryan Reynolds and a sharpe puppy “
What I like about the X-Men movies is their sense of individuality, and their ability to think outside the box
Most MCU movies look the same, and they almost never take risks
Deadpool's real super power is his knowledge that he is a fictional character. He's beaten some of his enemies by reading their comic books and figuring out what their weaknesses are :P
That big Russian dude is the X-Man known as Colossus, who can turn his skin into organic steel, and is very much a goody two-shoes (extremely moralistic). The joke about not seeing more than just him and Negasonic in the mansion was a rip on Sony still owning the rights to that franchise and not Marvel.
It's also hilarious that he doesn't even realize he's sabotaging his own hunt for Francis by asking all of those henchman where Francis is. They only know him as Ajax lol.
Did you notice too, the spot where the final fight takes place is on a derelict SHIELD helicarrier? :P
And finally, the film was released on Feb. 12th 2016, so it WAS a Valentine's Day movie :D
Your reaction to how hard this movie goes is priceless. Just keep in mind, the week it premiered it became the #1 ''R'' rated comedy of all time. On the planet.
So yeah, there was a second movie with a third being produced as we type.
Seeing Inara makes me hope to see Serenity on the channel soon.
Great reaction, this movie is so creative with how funny and crazy it gets, the 2nd one actually has a lot of emotion while still having all the comedy packed in it
most action movies will have a Training Montage, this one has a... um, different montage 🤣
Such a great start to the movie. I do feel a bit bad watching sweet Mary when I know what’s coming next 😂 That said … it didn’t stop me putting it on when my elderly parents came round one time 🤭
23:17 That actually happened in the Comics. Deadpool was cu into multiple parts and each body part [arm, leg ext] grew back and NEW Deadpool. There was at one time 9 of him in the same moment.
Loved your reaction, throwing in my suggestion of Free Guy with Ryan Reynolds, fairly new movie that has comedy and heart about video games!
6:10 yes Mary that is Inara from Firefly. Morena Baccarin was a very good choice for Wilson's love interest. The one-up-man-ship is wonderful.
13:22 the experiment is sadly part of the comic so yes we know it's not there yet. The experiment is also the reason Deadpool breaks the fourth wall constantly. He went so insane from the torture and stuff that he came out the other end enlightened to actually being a comic book character and capable of reacting to the yellow narrative boxes you see in comics.
21:38 the loss of the duffle-bag is because they ran out of money so they couldn't afford a gun fight.
25:53 nope that is a Hugh Jackman mask, a small dig at Wolverine.
Also glad they gave Negasonic a real power. In the x-men comics she could only see her own death about 2 minutes before it happened?
You're reacts are always so much fun!
So much of this movie was shot in British Columbia Canada.
I honestly mistook Vancouver for Toronto.
Fun fact: Deadpool is one of a few characters that knows they're a character in a comic... or in this case, a movie.
Hence the 4th wall breaks.
The 3 Laim Neeson movies were Taken 1-3. Highly encourage checking them out. Famous enough to reference in this movie, that nearly everyone knows what he is talking about. There is a classic line from the films that people quote verbatim. You would really like them but I think the first is definitely the best.
Just FYI, there are two versions of Deadpool 2. The theatrical, R-rated version, and a PG-13 recut. I _think_ they avoid ambiguity by titling the second one "Once Upon a Deadpool," and it has a framing device that makes it obviously distinct from the theatrical. I mention it because I am not sure if someone who hasn't seen it would be confused or get the wrong version accidentally when searching for it.
Also be aware that the very beginning of Deadpool 2 contains a major spoiler for 2017's Logan. Unfortunately, it's very time-consuming to avoid that spoiler, because you'd have to watch all the X-Men moves leading up to Logan.
Love how they reference Ferris Bueller's ending by making a parody of it in their ending. ✌️❤️🌹
Yeah, you’re going to miss a lot of the references because you didn’t watch the X-Men movies, especially the Wolverine films. But if you enjoyed this one you should enjoy Deadpool 2 as well.
4:38 "OOOHHHH BABY A TRIPPLE!!"
Has Mary seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off? I htink it is a necessity just to give context to the after credits screen.
The Liam Neeson reference is to his Taken movies where individuals of his family is kidnapped and he kills his way to the kidnappers. Warning lots of blood, gore and death. I really liked the first one. Make your own mind on the it and the others.
Its so good. Deadpool 2 is also great.
The Liam Neeson movies he talked about was the TAKEN group of movies. Really great :)
Funny thing: Deadpool keeps asking everyone “where’s Francis?”, but no one knows his real name, they all know him as “Ajax”. Also at the shipyard, that’s the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier from “The Avengers” movies & Gina Carano (the woman fighting Colossus) is a former MMA fighter in the UFC.
Never seen a Ryan Reynolds film? (Well, now you have, but...) I recommend Van Wilder and Smokin' Aces!
02:54 🤣🤣🤣 that laugh tho, another awesome reaction 🤠 also watch some x-men
The bob ross deadpool trailer is fantastic
You thought the scene with Wade being impaled was bad enough, but there was an extended version of that scene where after impaling him, Francis started methodically breaking his bones. They cut it because they thought that it was going too far
There are three versions of the sequel the original cut seen in the cinemas, the longer Super Duper Cut and the PG13 version Once Upon a Deadpool.
Yes, his friend was in Silicon Valley.
Mari: "Oh, he took it out of her!"
Me: "Deadpool! We need you over here!"
The irony of mentioning Bangarang in this move, just wait for Deadpool 2
Check out some Deadpool comics and you’ll see just how spot on Ryan nailed Deadpool!
Isn't it great to see Inara again? She's awesome
Bro deadpool wasn’t joking about the 116 kilos of cocaine and the cure for blindness LMFAOOO watch Deadpool 2 and keep your eyes open😂
The big joke is, no-one even knows who Francis is, it’s only when he finally asks for ‘your boss’ he gets an answer.
For some reason I did not realize that you didn’t watch any X-men films! You should definitely start in them soon. Especially since they’re finally starting to put X-Men characters in the MCU. And I will definitely watch your uploads if you do watch them 😀
I wouldn't really call it a stand alone movie. But that's because there are a lot of references to previous X-Men movies, that you would never understand if you never watched them. Deadpool 2 has even more of those, plus references to the rest of the MCU.
If you don't know the context for a lot of the budget jokes, this movie BARELY got made, Fox (the studio) thought an R rated superhero movie was impossible to be profitable and this movie sat on the shelf for years. It wasn't until test footage leaked and people saw the vibe of the movie that people demanded they make it. Fox was still hesitant and gave them a super low budget to work with, not expecting much (to which Deadpool jokes about their lack of budget several times), and ultimately this movie blew their budget out of the water and obviously became incredibly successful.
There is a 3rd one coming and the fans are going nuts speculating how Deadpool will be integrated into the MCU
If you ever decided to watch Deadpool 2, just know that it contains heavy/mega spoiler for "Logan" at the very beginning. Also mild spoiler for "John Wick".
There _is_ a second Deadpool, and you should definitely watch it. However, it does include references (or spoilers) to movies you don't have in your reaction archives -- the earlier X-Men movies, DC films, Bond movies, Flashdance (1983), Say Anything (1989), and Green Lantern (2011), probably among others -- so if any of these are on your "to watch" list, you may want to watch those first.
I think it's hilarious that people say you don't need to see anything else before watching Deadpool since it's chock full of references to a wide swath of pop culture. Without knowing Taken for example that joke is just a weird statement.
Super hero violent yet funny and strangely romantic.
Delightful reaction as usual. It's funny, I know Mary is not fond of super violence -- but this movie goes so very over the top, I think it actually blunts the horror of it, centering the absurdity of it all. It reminds you "hey, this is a movie, it's okay, no one's actually dying here." Which fits with a franchise with regular fourth wall breaks.
You can do violence in a lot of different ways. A great example is Verhoeven's "Robocop", where (spoilers?) the beginning scenes with ED-209 and Clarence are very similar and yet elicit completely different emotional reactions from the audience.
That dude's a master.
I laugh way too much at this every time I watch it. And I catch my wife giving me the same thinly veiled glance of mild disgust every single time.... I keep watching it. It's becoming part of the pleasure.
Another good set of super hero movies with this level of entertainment is Kickass 1 and 2
I have to warn you. Even though Deadpool is a standalone movie Deadpool 2 has a joke (my favorite from both of the movies) that involves the X-Men and in the beginning it has a huge spoiler for the movie Logan
You’ve never seen any of his movies?! Then you haven’t seen Definitely, Maybe. It’s sooo good, worth a watch. That and Van Wilder. Oh, and The Proposal.
Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a reactor do Definitely Maybe before.
All three of those are good, but you also are forgetting 'Safe House', 'The Hitmans Bodyguard', the sequel "The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard", 'Buried', and his three recent films, 'Free Guy', 'Red Notice' and 'The Adam Project'.
I believe that reference to kidnapped daughter and three movies was the Taken series of which the first one is very good if you like a lot of violence. And I do. The other were just more of the same.
9:55 "What movie are we talking about?" Taken (2008), starring Liam Neeson. It's pretty good! Definitely worth watching (although its sequels weren't).
I love when people call this movie mature. I know what you mean. But the humor is so funny because of how immature it is.
Fun fact, they didn’t use any CGI or special effects for Angel Dust to punch Colossos across the junkyard. Gina Carano just really hits that hard ;)
