Artist’s Statement by Ted Luck:
“My work is mostly inspired by my cultural make up. As we navigate the broader world, our cultural complexity travels with us. Some of my work is a dissemination of a mostly unconscious reveal of the cultural elements that make me unique. It is the water in which I swim. Several pieces reflect my deliberate attempt to chronicle my conception of the African America experience. Other creations are inspired by all the integral and organic beauty that surround me.”
Bio of Ted Luck:
Ted Luck is a native of Washington, D.C. He credits his mother for his interest in history and his love for the visual arts. Starting at a very early age, she took Ted, twin brother and an older brother to numerous galleries and museums in the District of Columbia.
He is a graduate of The District of Columbia Teacher’s College where he majored in history and minored in art, studying under Lucille “Malkia” Roberts. Ted also took art classes at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He earned the degree of Master Arts (Educational Leadership) at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. Ted has taken numerous art classes at the Delaplaine Art Center.
After a long career in education, Ted returned to devoting more time to his passion, the creative arts, especially acrylic painting, and collage.

King. The light. The emotion. Such a fluid, commanding piece.
Remarkable pieces of art! Thank you, Ted, for sharing some details of your work in this video!
Wow. I agree. Thank you, Miyako. The guitar player mesmerizes me. Ted Luck is also 'into his craft'. What a talented gentleman. You have also shown us his gentleness. I will watch this video again, and again. It is fascinating. He is fascinating. The world of collaging. Gluing. This video will 'stick' with me.
"In the Worlds of Douglass" is incredible.
