- Thousands of artists have held a protest outside Argentina's congress, where a controversial bill on economic reforms came up for debate.
They say it removes protections for consumers and workers, including those in the film industry.
Critics are calling for a national strike, to condemn the bill introduced by the new President, Javier Milei.
Al Jazeera’s Latin America Editor Lucia Newman reports from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Give Milei a chance because everything else has failed.
Same stupdiity as with germasn who voted for Adolf.
Lucky enough Argentinia is not in the situation where a crazy guy like him could go in that direction.
Film makers are supposed to be privately funded and profit making, how on earth did the government waste so much on them.
Corruption. You know driven by what peopel? The "private" guys. And you know just want to give them all power. Good luck.
I guess but I recommend george lucas view on this and there are some great soviet made films
If your part of the working class you should not be dependent on government funding.
Paying taxes and get nothing in return 👇
@@marczhu7473 You get government services like a nation free from invasion and undue levels of crime, education for your children, access to functional transportation and public utilities. I don't even have a problem with government funded healthcare. But you should not get a welfare check if you are regular working class. I am ok with limited temporary assistance like if you loose a job or become ill but that should be the exception not the rule. Most government fluff jobs should not exist at all.
Were I running a country I would have 2-4 year mandatory government service after graduation of high school and staff nearly all government positions from that rotating pool. House them in dorms and feed them but don't really pay them. Then at the end the kids can get a couple years of university paid for by the government or a down payment on a house or a car or the like to help them get started in life without regard to family wealth.
@@zyxwvutsrqponmlkh with you in power expect crime is high because corruption and crime pay up due to low wage and no money for unemployment due to mass automation. 😂
@@zyxwvutsrqponmlkh hint :minimum wage indexed on inflation should exist if you remove welfare check.🤔
@@marczhu7473 google bots be deleting my posts >_< I hate YT so fugging much!
I love how they are still having fun at a protest. 😅
😂
Unlike the pro Palestinian 🇵🇸 thugs
Sell Argentina's assets to American investors and problems would be over.
They can start their own art programs
Argentina 🇦🇷. Cut the clowning around tighten your belts.
I came from somalia
Stay there we don't want you.
If your business is really working, then you dont need government support.
protesters be like the film culture of our country is more important that our children's future.
When you are poor, live with what you have. Do not over spend.
You can't go on indefinitely spending other people's money to prop up your failed economic model . Milei realises this. Wealth has to be created by hard work producing products that people want to buy. Not printing money.
Elect a clown, get a circus.
I agree. Milei is an American owned showdog whose only job is to give Argentina to the USA. Why else would be he be dismantling the national bank and the currency, and leaving BRICS talks, in favour of US central banking and US currency? "Anarcho capitalist" they call him... by identity but not by practice, as is the America way 😅.
Argentina was a circus for a century, before Milei took charge.
They had been electing clowns.
@@christophersalinas2328Now, they are getting a bigger clown
@@911Sept how is government spending on unnecessary stuff different from a clown. Milei do watever it take to save the country. Period.
