      I think there is one thing. When planting his last step (left foot) you shouldn't touch his heel in the ground cause that's supposed to make him jump less

  • @Alpange
    @Alpange Год назад +35

    I waited 7 years before meeting a coach that explained to me what's important in this video:
    1- You must have the correct footwork: the right foot if you are right-handed, the left if you are left-handed. Without this, you will be blocked because you cannot open up to the ball, you will not be able to make point 2, and you will lack a lot of strength. It took me 1 year to change my footwork for short set and middle attack. I still struggle with attacks in position 4.
    2- You must create rotation during your extension. The idea is to obtain power that comes from the thighs and goes through the body, just like when throwing a stone or a baseball bat: the force comes from below. Look at the position of his hips at the beginning of the extension and at his reception. He rotates 120°! Without this rotation, you will not be able to hit hard.

I mean i have only played at a club 3 times which is probably why I'm not as good, but thanks to my competitiveness I always try practicing by myself so I can be the best on the court lolololol. • @torqvb
      @torqvb  6 лет назад +87

      Hey Kiran,
      It all depends on the height of the set. In general, you can use your 2nd step (left foot if you’re right handed) as a reference point. So when the pass hits the setters hands you should be on or near your 2nd step, then you have a split second to gauge where the set is and powerfully step close to the ball. If you look at when my foot is hitting the ground in a few of the hitting videos you will see what I’m talking about. You can also watch professional matches and take a look at when the outside hitters are hitting their second step. You will see a lot of similarities.
      Hope this helps!

      Start your approach at the balls highest point.

    • @user-df5is8jy6n
      @user-df5is8jy6n 5 лет назад +18

      1st step whatever it is, you must move first, therefore the step is small and light
      2nd step to adjust the ball tempo
      3rd step for power behind the jump
      4th step: light step to stabilize your jump
      It's just my way to understand your videos

    • @NicholasSunderland
      @NicholasSunderland 5 лет назад +4

      Depends on the tempo of the set.
      First step out of 4 is just to get some momentum going, do it before the ball is set. Second step just as the ball reaches its peak. Last 2 as the ball falls from the peak

    • @DYLisDEAD
      @DYLisDEAD 5 лет назад +3

      if you’re an outside I would start as soon as you see the set and where it’s going. if you’re a middle go as the setter is getting the ball and oppo is somewhere in the middle

    • @RedBaron8698
      @RedBaron8698 4 года назад +1

      Ideally, you want to jump straight up, instead of forward. Since you want to get a full arm swing without hitting the net, I would stand a little more than one arm-length away from the net and see where your feet are; that's where you will want to jump from. Take 3-4 steps back from that position, and that's where you will start your approach.

      @@braiansingh9730 - RedBaron8698's suggestion is correct but to really get the hang of it, you must practice a lot until you get it right. At some point, you will know where to take off and where to land. It becomes your second nature. Jump straight up is recommended especially if the set it very tight to the net. I would normally swing my arm sideways if the ball is right on top of the net (also good to get the ball off the blocker hands). Swinging it downwards would definitely get my arm on the net (foul).

      LiberatorG Hey man. My first instinct is to say yes, only because it will be harder for you to make adjustments. In terms of power, as long as you can still open up your trunk, and your mechanics are legit, you can still produce a lot of force. It also depends on what position you play and where you are are the court.
