      I wasn't confused at all about these because I was totally unaware of them! This was excellent and now I know. Something I always wonder about when studying is how accurate are the translations to English. For example, using brutta. I have learned that it means ugly. In your mind are you thinking, "I had an ugly day."? That makes sense to me. Or are you thinking," I had a bad day."

    You really do explain things very well. I wish my memory was better. But I'm doing this for enjoyment and I am getting lots of that. Grazie mille!

    If I am understanding this correctly, the line from the song in Disney's movie Lady and the Tramp where they sing about "this lovely bella notte" should actually be "bella nottata"?

    • @ItalianTeacherValentina
      @ItalianTeacherValentina  8 месяцев назад +1

      😄 Yes, we would probably say that, or better yet "questa bella serata" since in Italian "notte" begins at midnight. Please watch this other video of mine if this is something new/ not clear: ruclips.net/video/2K8OhUfsPH0/видео.html

    Terrific video! So helpful! What would Pommerigo be? I wish you could be my in person teacher! You are welcome if you ever get to US, Colorado! Just thought I would try to manifest this idea! Grazie Valentina especially for your friendly personality and easy teaching style!

      Ahah, I'd love to come, Michelle! And Colorado is definitely on my wishlist for when I'll finally visit the US. 😊 Pomeriggio works for both meanings. Also please check out my previous video that focused specifically on pomeriggio and greetings for different parts of the day: ruclips.net/video/1iX3ScbRsqA/видео.html

    Avuto un ottimo serata. Ho guardato un video ottimo, ma ora ho una domanda nuova. Ho molte domande sempre! Come dovremmo usare "avuto" v. "Avevo". Tu hai un video per quello?

    Why do you say “buon giorno”when you greet someone, but say buona giornata when parting. It seems to me that both greetings involve how you desire the other person to perceive the day.

    Brava ❤ Mia Nonni From Sicilia came to America and needed to learn English (in those day) So we missed out on learning the language. I’ve struggled for years to learn Italian. You’re a blessing and I’ve been able to understand the language, not just “memorize” words. Mille grazia Valentina.

      Thanks for sharing your story, Dena! So many of my students had the same experience, I can understand of much of a struggle it can be but also the strong desire to reconnect with your roots. I'm so happy if I can help you with that 😊

    This was my 1st exposure to these differences or even the "ata" ending. Thank you. I was confused on the 2nd to last sentence where " di mattina" was used instead of "della mattina" for "in the morning".Do you have a video on using prepositions that covers these type of different uses? You are my go to for grammar because you are so good at breaking it down.

    • @ItalianTeacherValentina

      So glad I can help you Ken, and making Italian grammar understandable is my primary goal (and passion!). Unfortunately I don't have one on prepositions...yet!
