she let him have his pride. she could've taken the rings the whole time. he used ego to control them and she used love. she taught him what love was. true ❤️
Nah, she didn't need or want the rings. It's just basic theme of most Asian philosophies: "Don't carry excess baggage".
Or just the use of martial arts turning your opponents energy against them. Moving like the wind, smooth and flow, redirecting the opponents own strength against them. Look it up, I did after making this comment and it turns out I was right.
@@Kncperseus Need or want is IRRELEVANT. SHE COULD'VE TAKEN THEM IF SHE WANTED TO. 🙂 That was my point. People take shit all the time that they don't need or even want as a show of power. She didn't do that, and let him have his pride. It's literally the art of being a woman which transcends Asian cultures alone and applies to all women. There is a way of dealing with men that gets you the best outcome without destroying their ego which is exactly what she did.

The reason the Ten Rings glow blue around Wenwu and golden near Ying/son is because blue is associated with non-benevolence, while gold/red is associated with good in Asian cultures.
It's the same reason why in ATLA, Azula's fire is blue - to emphasize on her alignment with the negative side.
I thought the reason azulas fire was blue due to her mastery in firebending and her lighting creation. Also her fire was much more hotter like Dabi from my hero
@@uncagedmnc956 Blue fire is associated with untrustworthy spirits/Yokai in Sino-Japanese cultures. The Nine Tailed Foxes - Kitsune/Gumiho - would often be described manifesting in presence of mysterious blue flames.
Moreover, Azula's firebending skills had nothing to do with her flames' color. By that logic, Iroh and Ozai - who far outclassed her - should also have had blue flames.
I kind of think that Azula’s flames could also represent how far off the deep end she is in comparison to her fellow firebenders. The blue might be a representation of her insanity.
Also there are blue-skinned Oni.

I hope the director of this movie brings more of the same choreography crew to do Avengers : Kang's Dynasty. We need more badass fights like this in mcu, which are actually well choreographed and a joy to watch.
The thing is most mcu projects have good choreography just some are unfortunately brought down by the editing
@@TJ-jw1wm Also true. But because its the same director im not worried about it in this particular project. Obviously though, you are right, other movies with directors who dont understand action, dont know how to film it well and then additionally cut it badly.
Yeah! Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars needs all the time they need to surpass Infinity War and Endgame, they're supposed to be the bigger films considering Kang and possibly Doom and The Beyonder are coming.
You know when Shang Chi shows up alongside the other avengers he's gonna have the best action scene in the whole damn movie

fun fact: the martial art she uses here is called baguazhang. it's what airbending from Avatar is based on.
That is the one used by Jet Li's heroic character in the 2001 movie The One.
The best “how I met your mother” moment in movies imho. 🥰 the tension between them 👌
I love that Shang-Chi was Marvel’s first Phase Four superhero. I love martial art/mediation style fighting, and Marvel is always known for making awesome fight sequences. This was breathtaking in theaters, and I love how the facial expression throughout still show that it isn’t just nonsense fighting, there is character growth. i love this comment.
beautiful scene aside what happened to xu wenwu is just so sad. he didn’t know what love is for thousand of years and when he finally found his soulmate and had a family of his own, it was all taken from him. in my eyes he will never be a “villain”.
He was a villain. He found redemption in her. Then lost his redemption both physically and metaphorically.
He also neglected/abused both of his children following the death of their mother.
@@hopefulstarfish7559 imo neglected is not the correct word to describe what he did. he did abuse his son tho, by making him going through all sorts of martial arts training day and night. he didn’t pay that much attention to his daughter but he didn’t neglect her, she resembled her mother so much that’s why he couldn’t bring himself to spend too much time with her or even train her like what he did to his brother. however it’s important to acknowledge that he did all of those things because of the ten rings, it controlled almost his every move.
@@cloudtheavegner1000 yes, he was. i’m not justifying what he did in the past but if it weren’t for the ten rings, he would’ve never committed that many crimes. when he took the ten rings off and live with ying li, he became his true self.
@@lgtbz The 10 rings have no controlling power like something the Darkhold would have. Wenwu was a bad person who stumbled onto the 10 rings and did bad things because he wanted power and he had the 10 rings to help him do so. When he found Ying Li he didn't become a better person because he took the 10 rings off, he became a better person because he found love. And once he lost his love, he returned to the 10 rings to seek revenge, not because it had some controlling power over him. Shang Chi has the 10 rings and he isn't going to do bad things because he is inherently a better person with better intentions.
That was too cute, like dancing they were having fun! Love it, that's the way to do a fight scene, without catastrophic hits or blood coming from the corner of the mouth ect. They nailed this fight perfectly.

I don’t know who choreographed this scene but it has no reason to be as beautiful as it is
This fight sticks in my memory among others, in the MCU just for how beautifully choreographed it is.
This movie has been and still is the best thing to come out of the newest phase of marvel. This movie was made with a lot of blood, sweat and tears, and people doing mad overtime. Not healthy obviously but this movie really is something special. It’s in my top 5 easily
The way that she laughs softly in the beginning when Xu Wenwu flexes his Ten Rings, that's when he began to fall in love with her and then when he saw her gorgeous face, he realized there was no turning back once he had fallen for her, a deep emotional connection was formed as their fight resembled a dance instead.

Aw, love at first fight. First time I watched this I was just so impressed by the choreography that I didn't noticed they were falling for each other.
Halfway through the fight, it looked more like a dance than a fight, so I’m surprised you didn’t notice that.
To those who have watched wuxia shows and films, you will know what I’m about to say.
Watching this fight sequence is like watching Zhang Sanfeng use Taiji Fist to combat Hong Qi’s Eighteen-Dragon Subduing Palms.
In this context, it’s as if Ying Li is using the softness and elegance of ‘Taiji Fist’ to directly counter Wenwu who is predominantly focusing on roughness and power, like Eighteen-Dragon Subduing Palms.
As a massive enjoyer of Chinese martial arts sequences, I was beyond ecstatic to watch how well they incorporated this element into a Marvel film. As another commenter mentioned, it was hard to believe for a second that this is in fact a Marvel film.
