I love the fact that the women's 100m hurdles is so competitive. I am a Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone fan, but I do wish the women's 400m hurdles would be similarly competitive. It would probably be good for Sydney, too. I'm not sure whether Sydney's dominance is because she is just so-o-o-o good or whether the 400 is not yet as competitive as the 100. What do you think?
@@anilmitra5065 The longer the race, the more steps are taken, more energy is used, more opportunity for mistakes, and on and on. So, there’s more opportunity for the competition to spread out. So, it’s doubtful that they’ll ever be so many people at a photo finish like there is in the 100 m.
You’re welcome. I think if she hadn’t hit that second hurdle, she would’ve had the lead from the beginning. That’s just my guess. Thanks for the comment!
@@anilmitra5065 quick question! It can be simplified to a strength/power: weight ratio. If you had two athletes with equal strength/power, but different mass, the one with the less mass would have an advantage. So, yes, if she has equal strength/power as the athletes with more upper body mass.

Thanks for breakdown analysis Coach Mike. This race was really close and Masai's closing just barely got her the victory but well deserved.

Masai Russel's upper body is relatively slight. Is this an advantage?
