when bella was a kitten did she finish her whole tin? I have a 5 month old kitten and I have to break 1 tin into 2 halves for breakfast and dinner because she only its it a little :(
Bella would have 3 meals a day as a kitten. A whole tin or pouch of wet food in the morning & a bowl of biscuits. In the evening she would have another tin or pouch of wet food. Some days she would eat more than others.
What kinda food do you feed your kitten ? 💕
@@malicahamilton Originally I fed her royal canin maincoon kitten pouch which she barely ate, now I feed her the purina pro plan chicken wet food which she eats a bit more if i try feed her with a spoon, and she has tried applaws kitten wet food and she managed to finish the whole tin this morning!
Ive had her for 7 days but I suspect her breeder only fed her dry kibble since at the start she would avoid her wet food and just have kibble :(
How much water does your cat drink? My cat is on a kibble diet and gets 240ml water that i add split to 2 meals
She doesn’t drink a huge amount of water most cats don’t. It’s good to have a fountain it encourages them to drink more. Bella does have one but atm I don’t have any where to plug it in for her.
Cats should be fed mostly wet food because it contains a lot of moisture & it’s much more nutritional than biscuits. It also provides them with a nice variety of different textures & flavours.
@@malicahamilton i'd recommend adding a bit of water to your cats wet food if you havent since utis are so common in cats who dont drink because like you said they dont have a high thirst drive. The nutrition thing isnt really accurate cause my vet said its marketing that wet food has more nutrients and that dry food is marketed to be enticing to cats because of enchanced flavor they add, sure it has some beneficial ingredients but the proteins and fats are pretty much the same. But he never really said which is better since they are equally good. For me its a budget issue and dry food really saved my cat to gain weight
@tensei1710 vets don’t really know much about nutrition especially yours by the sound of it and they have given very weird advice to people 😕 cats don’t need dry food they need to be fed wet with it’s got more protein. I would never feed Bella on just dry food it’s rather cruel and would definitely cause her to have a UTI or kidney issues later down the line. Cheap dry food contains “flavouring” to entice the cat because there’s not much actual meat inside… they often contain additives and colourants to make the food appear more enticing and it makes them addicted 😕 that’s not a good thing
I only feed her high quality wet food & raw. I always read the ingredients of her food and never feed her food that has the first ingredient “meat or animal derivatives” the first ingredient should be what meat is inside and the meat content needs to be high. Bella only gets biscuits a few times a week and I feed her the scrumbles dry food because it’s full of good bacteria and it does wonders for her stomach & digestion.
I’ve got a diploma in animal care and I studied animal nutrition. I’m very particular about what I feed Bella because I want her to be fed well especially because I can afford to do so. I do alot of “healthy cat food hauls” on my channel to educate people on how to feed their cats better.
I think you should do some research into why dry food is bad for cats because you vet has given you the incorrect information. I would never take advice from someone who claims dry food is healthier than wet food 😅 it makes no sense.
Your cat needs proper food not soggy biscuits. Feed your cat high quality wet food and it will gain weight.
I work as a pet shop assistant and part of my job is to educate and advise people on cat food. I’m the most educated in the shop when it comes to cat nutrition.
I have a playlist dedicated to healthy cat food hauls and next week I will have a video showing a weeks worth of breakfast where I tried Bella on bone broth to add to her wet food to provide her with a bit more hydration
@@malicahamilton it depends cause there are quality dry foods and those are definitely better than the cheap wet foods in nutrition. Its basically same nutrition but one has water and one doesnt but theres also things like dry food being more calorie dense and it being great for a cats teeth whereas raw food is tricky because it is incredibly hard to get it right without contaminating, storage, etc. Thats just some things my vet told me and they know a lot about nutrition because they got nutrition in their curriculum from veterinary school
@tensei1710 once again most Vets do not know a lot about nutrition 😅 they are not nutrition specialist. Anyone who does research into cat foods know this ! They are not * specialist* when it comes to nutrition. It’s a myth that dry food cleans cats teeth. You need to brush their teeth and use things like dental gels and plaque powders.
I feed wet food & raw food. Not all raw food Is complete however you can buy supplements or just feed alongside complete wet food and dry food. Contamination & storage ? Treat it like you would your own meat. It goes in the freezer & defrost it in the fridge over night. It can stay fresh for 3 days and keep in a container it’s not hard
Even though I feed Bella one of the best quality dry foods I would NEVER only feed her on just dry soaked in water.
You said you feed your cat soggy biscuits and that he’s under weight. You said he weighs just 7lb which is only 3kg and is much smaller compared to other cats so maybe your cat is not getting the correct nutrients. Bella weighs about 5kg 😕
Bella is a healthy weight for her breed. She has two - three meals a day. Her digestion is amazing she does solid poos and her fur passes through her digestive system so she never coughs up a hair ball. Most of her poos also don’t smell which is a sign of healthy digestion. Ragdolls have very sensitive stomach’s and since feeding her on scrumbles and raw food she has much better and less smelly poos. Your cats poo tells you alot about their digestion.If your cats poo is runny or very smelly …. That’s often caused by poor diet or that the food doesn’t agree with them because it could be a little too rich.
