@@Royalty-eb7xj well according to multiple official guidebooks it actually comes out as pretty vague. With TTGL’s height ranging from 5.28 to 126 billion light years. The universe being 93 billion. My head canon for the intro scene is that it's showing one of the many battles of the spiral ancestors against the anti-spirals many many years ago, one of the many who failed. And our Lagann which got buried deep underground was one also part of that battle. It fits perfectly.
If I remember correctly, I think the creator said something along the lines of it being a future adventure between the final battle with the anti-spirals and the epilogue, or an aborted story arc.
I've always seen it as an alternate universe where Simon and Team Gurren do become greedy and drunk on their spiral power after defeating the anti-spirals. The lights in the heavens seems to be used referring to other lifeforms and especially spiral races, so them saying all the lights are their enemies could be seen as other spiral races trying - desperately - to stop the fallen Team Gurren from bringing about the Spiral Nemesis
@@dianarocha2485 yep. I think they said it in one interview too. But I find it funny that even without putting much thought into, the scene could create different narratives.

The best explanation I've ever heard for the prologue is that it is an alternate timeline showing if Simon became the Spiral Nemesis. . First off, every single enemy on the Super Spiral Scanner shows up as green, typically the sign of an ally or a spiral reading. The Maelstrom cannon is directly mentioned, proving that the ship he is on is Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren, and meaning these events are occurring after defeating the anti-spiral. Perhaps most importantly, "all the lights in the heavens are our enemy now," during the prologue, and we now know from the epilogue that, "The lights in the sky are stars where our spiral cousins are waiting for us." Essentially, the theory is that the prologue version of Simon grew drunk on spiral power just as the Antispiral warned, and without the Antispiral to stop him, he conquered (and presumably, eventually destroyed) the universe.

Great movie. It was also studio Trigger's first full-length animated movie. The first time I watched it was in a VR headset, and it was a color overload.
40:08 "Lasted long enough for the weeding" , in the manga they explain that the weeding actually took place 2 weeks after they came back to Earth. Nia was already "dying" but she did the same thing she did against the Anti Spiral : Recreating her body by recalling her happy memories. have you guys watched Space Dandy? if you havent you need to. its so much fun and im pretty sure the voice of the anti-spiral is the narrator in space dandy.
Watch the movies. Especially the second one. They take the final battle to a whole another level and Simon is actually proven to be the most powerful character in the series (more powerful than anti spiral). By the end of this story, Simon is basically a god
One thing that I love in this show is that it is not an anime of mechas actually. EVERY part of this anime has paralels in life, and the DREAM STATE is the paralel of the comfort zone. THATS WHY YOU CAN'T GENERATE MORE SPIRAL POWER (will power). It is like when you have an objective in life but eventually gets something and stops fighting because you are comfortable enough
This anime is about hope and most Importantly believing in that hope. “We evolve beyond the person we were a minute before! Little by little with each turn we advance a bit further”
The emotions that I felt when first watching this are hard to describe and the lessons that it etched into my soul are things that I do my best to implement every day
Watch the movie its pretty much everything condensed in to movie size but the final battle is crazier and bigger in the final moments when they clash drills and he does the final strike.

my assumption is that that first scene in episode 1 is that is is one of the possible lifetimes of simon, like how he was trapped in infinite parallel universes in episode 26. they have a few short music videos called parallel works where they show parallel universes with the same characters.
Something I really think Gurren Lagann did right over a lot of other things anime, movies, or even games is they knew where to end something. They could've extended it with games, off shoots, movies, etc and they decided no. "The movie is all we need." and because of that Gurren Lagann will always remain a classic without having to be ruined in someway by a bad sequel. Honestly, I think Avatar for example should've taken notes.

*PLEASE* react to the 2 movies for this series! While it does retell the story, I promise you'll enjoy some of the changes! It is miles better of a climax in the 2nd movie! I hope Kill la Kill is on the list one day!
The 2nd movie ending fights was better. The two movies condensed the entire series down with fresh material spliced in here and there. It's gives us the ending they wanted at the time but didn't have the budget for it.
With the end scenes and studio trigger got gurren lagann ip back from gainax then they may start doing sequels with how vocal fanbase is. Considering gurren lagann is a love letter to 70/80s super robot animes then they gonna go into other universes concept. This is a fan dream me and others have but we pray they get permission from Go Nagai and company that holds known super robot titles liek mazinger z and getter robo to make them canon in gurren lagann verse. Considering gurren lagann is a fusion of those two with hint of king of the beasts Gaiking.
So, to clear up confusion. Simon is God or a God. He technically could recreate everyone who died and more. When everyone broke out of the multidimensional labyrinth, he actually absorbed it within himself. There's a movie that retells the anime, but they also included more details that were confusing. Some fight scenes were also redone and extended. Simon is actually the strongest anime character. There's an entire list of things that explain what Simon himself can do. He can not only create and recreate universes but also people and people's lives. He is anime God.
I always just thought of the scene from the beginning of the show as one of the infinite possible timelines from the multi dimensional labrinth that they were trapped in in episode 26
This was the first anime I ever saw and the first that I cried to for nia's death. I hoped for a while that they did a spin off of this anime but now I realize it's perfect as is .
43:47 Oh Kamina's dad is dead AF, there's homework involved but the very first scene of the entire series is a Gurenn in Space, this is believed to be a scene of the previous War with the Anti-Spiral, the person that looks like Kamina is him and Also you saw his bones in episode 2 after Lord Genome Betrayed/killed him 28:04 that made total sense, over the years I've picked up so much junk knowledge that now I "know" it but it was just "told" to me I didn't learn anything about it, I "know" but don't "understand". It's like how I know Event Horizon was originally going to be a Warhammer 40k movie about humanities first encounter with Chaos. Or How Robocop was supposed to be Judge Dredd but not only that Warhammer 40k totally Rips from Dredd and Robocop, check out an Arbite (basically a Space Judge) some time they look like the funky cloned love child of Dredd and Robocop. Now you also know but don't understand stuff.
Maybe I've never understood this ending, but it's depressing as fuck. Sure, they've saved the world and laid the path for humanity's success...and also ended up extremely depressed/dead and never achieved their own personal happiness.
Remember tho, these are people who started the story living in poverty underground. In the first episode their dream is to reach the surface, but by the end theyve reached the stars!
I think the Normies are reading too much into the intro scene of the show. It was written for the first episode many months (if not years) before we got to the Anti-Spiral arc, as far as I know they just had a general idea of what that was going to be like and they made the initial scene with that idea and threw in the Waterfall line because it sounded cool.
PLLEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEE react to Lagann-Hen. It got 2 Japanese-only movies: Gurren-Hen, which is a movie telling of the First Arc. And Lagann-Hen, which is the Second Arc. However, Lagann-Hen actually has an altered ending.
45:08 I promised myself that I wouldn't comment but it's ok. About Nia, when they said that she's a virtual form, it made me think that she had no soul & that would mean that she won't be waiting for Simon in the afterlife along with everyone else & I felt even more depressed than I thought I would. So if there were other solutions that I missed while watching the show please enlighten me.
Maybe not virtual in the sense that she’s just a digital person, but because she is/became an Anti-Spiral, her physical makeup is different from the rest. Her body is basically made up of memories, just like how Anti-Spiral is the thought of all the sealed Anti-Spirals combined into one. But since she is also a Spiral, maybe she can still make it, because Spiral Power is empowered by emotions, so I would say she still has a soul
This series is so GAR!!! (Remember that term? It was popular when this series first came out) 😉 Simon has Lordgenome's eye - like the Spiral King, he's got so much spiral power that he's manifesting the spiral eyes (ala the Rasengan). And like the Spiral King, that spiral power will enable Simon to live a very long life 🤔 BTW --possible spoiler here, be forewarned-- if ya guys watch the ending of Samurai Jack, you'll see something familiar 😁
If you would have watched this in sub movie you would have seen a form of gurren lagann even beyond the final one, that’s basically bigger than the whole universe, it’s unfortunate they changed it for the dub
I hope they watch kill la kill. It’s another master piece from trigger. Put it up there gurren lagann, cyberpunk edge runner, BNA, darling in the franxx, promare.

*JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?!*
The End of a journey is ALWAYS depressing. Life is about the journey itself. But it all ends eventually. So just enjoy the ride.
Now you gotta watch the movie for the alternate ending
Y'all should watch Madoka Magica
When Rana cries, I cry.
Antispiral dubs sound awesome 😂
Is the movie version of Gurren Lagann officially sold in foreign countries?
I just realised the ending is somewhat similar to the Samurai Jack ending
The final battle of the second film is much better. You must Watch that
Much better final fight but the parts before that are definitely worse
The final fight is more elaborate and better animated but I preferred the succinctness of the TV version.
Simon throwing hands with anti spiral was epic 😊
@@cklambo and the STTGL
Check out the final battle in the second movie, it gets so much crazier.
This series is so GAR!!! (Remember that term? It was popular when this series first came out) 😉
Simon has Lordgenome's eye - like the Spiral King, he's got so much spiral power that he's manifesting the spiral eyes (ala the Rasengan). And like the Spiral King, that spiral power will enable Simon to live a very long life 🤔
BTW --possible spoiler here, be forewarned-- if ya guys watch the ending of Samurai Jack, you'll see something familiar 😁
Now that Lagann is done can we move onto The Owl House
Loved your reaction as always💗
You should check out society of the snow, i would love to hear what you have to say about that one
Yes, now you have to watch Space Dandy
did they ever watched the movies? extra scenes are worth it and second movie is eve much more insane!
What will replace Gurren Lagann?
Monster?
or will they return to the previous format of Bleach?
Samurai Champloo
Please watch the Gurren Lagann movie version of the final fight. It changes some aspects but is animated way better
You guys HAVE TO watch parallel works and the movies
I still really really hope they watch Kill La Kill eventually 😭
Nest up... the Gurren Lagann movies. Row row fight the powah.
I hope you guys react to Frieren. Its spectacular and the English dub is amazing.
11:27 y’all need to start fate we got concepts up the ass
They need to watch the movies, the 2nd recap films final fight is crazier
