Why JK Rowling Hates Draco Malfoy Fans...😡

  • JK Rowling doesn't like how popular the character is! The prolific author of the series has said several times that she disliked the fact that Malfoy has a fan base, and said that she feels people are confusing Tom Felton and his character. Whilst Tom gives Malfoy good looks and charm, ultimately she doesn't think the character should have any fans - he's cruel and bigoted, and would probably be an awful boyfriend. In fact, in an essay on Pottermore, she wrote “Draco was not concealing a heart of gold under all that sneering and prejudice and that no, he and Harry were not destined to end up best friends.”

J.K.'s kind of hypocritical with Draco's character. She claims that "he'd be an awful boyfriend" and "wasn't concealing a heart of gold," yet she contradicts herself. Draco's wand core, Unicorn hair, means there is some good inside. I think on Pottermore it literally means a heart or gold. Also, in the end of the series, she gives him a wife and son. Obviously that wouldn't have happened if he was an awful boyfriend...

The problem is that Draco's fans are the one who are changing the story so they can make Draco look good, while making others look bad, for example people say in the third movie that Ron was too judmental and rude towards Draco when Draco was making fun of Harry about dementors because he was actually "just cheacking if he is ok" (while that is not true because we know what he had done in the books after that) or being angry at Harry because he used sectumsempra even when Draco started a fight and tried to use crucio on Harry, like Harry can't panic when he is about to be tortured etc. Not to mention bunch of headcanons about him that became facts all because of his look. If I was a writter and based his character on my high school bullies and wrote him to be horrible, just for other people to defend him and make him a pure angel while changing my story, I wouldn't be happy either.

@@Adrien-su1po Hi, I'm one of the fangirls and I would like to share my perspective. It's clear to me that Draco is a fucking meanie, he's done a lot of stupid things (that he can't be forgiven for!) and I would hate him too if his story wasn't so interesting. Many non-fangirls tend to forget how much of that he didn't want to do (and I'm not trying to defend anything here, but at a certain point he was desperate - but still a fucking meanie). In the movie (I can't remember the books, I'm just going by the movies now) he also changed his side at least a little, so that he doesn't tell Bellatrix that they caught Harry but claims that he has no idea who that is.
And that spark of resistance in him fires something up: Tom Felton is very pretty and appeals to a certain type; blonde, badass, nonchalant, in a suit (black suits him) and just being mean while moving in a cool way (just the way he moves!) is enough to come across as cool... he's a leader in his group, he says what he thinks, and he has this hatred in his eyes that expresses him so much... that's a mean guy. Some people like that. Me too. The fact that it was portrayed that way in the films, even if unintentionally, naturally leads to this. If you don't want people to like him, then he just has to be ugly, ALWAYS a fucking meanie, emotionless and whatever... like Dudley Dursley. Draco is just different.
I don't portray him as a good guy, it's just my type.

If JK Rowling hates Draco Malfoy so much then why did she give him so many redeeming qualities?
His father, Lucius, is a cruel, abusive, hateful, monster, making us pity the poor boy. He clearly struggles with fear, and anxiety. As a little boy Draco Malfoy was an obnoxious little shit that needed some sense slapped into him. However, as he grew up, he learned and became a better person. He struggled with right and wrong on many occasions. Only choosing the 'evil' options out of fear. His rude purist attitude comes from the fact that he wants to make his father proud. All of the horrible things he does in book 7 are because he's afraid that if he doesn't do what Voldemort tells him to, he and his family will be brutally slaughtered. After Harry saves his life from the fire in the Room of Requirement, he gains a respect for Harry. Harry and Draco will never be friends. There's too much negative history there. However, as adults I would like to think that they respect each other and can act civilized. Like they do in the 19 years later prolog when dropping their kids off at platform 9 3\4.
There are only two characters in the entire series that seem to be cruel and evil simply for the sake of being cruel and evil and those two characters are Voldemort, of course, and the even worse monstrosity known as Deloris Umbridge. And funnily enough even Voldemort has more redeeming qualities than Umbridge! He's evil because he was conceived through lies and manipulation and he never knew and never will know true love or friendship. It's a little bit sad when you really think about it. I could almost pity him.
Umbridge on the other hand is just nasty! She hates her family and lies about who her real family is. She's manipulative and cruel and does whatever she can to gain power and control. SHE TORTURES CHILDREN!!! I can't imagine anyone much more evil than that!

I read the books so many times and I never noticed a single reedeming quality. Lucius was cruel as a person, but clearly he was a good father who had good relationship with his son. Draco joined death eaters at first because he wanted it and you can even see him bragging in the sixth book, but regretted his decision after his plans started failing, he was afraid AFTER he realised he can't do the task. Next to all that, we never saw a big change in his character, his whole story is just: Spoiled little brat who enjoy to bully join a cult, but then he realised cult is not good because it is scary and he is treated bad, so he regrettes joining it, but isn't brave enough to stand up and escape, so he stay on thr bad side until hero defeats the leader of the cult... that's it

When an author goes out of her way to hate a character, plenty of readers are going to try to find things to like about him just because they don’t like being told what they should think about someone. That happens with the book version of Draco, even when there is no actor for fans to find attractive.

@@mrmanunited3290 Yeah and so did Harry. He actually DID use sectumsempra on Draco and Draco almost died and the only thing harry was worried about was missing the quidditch match. I'm not justifying all the awful things Draco has done but the example u gave to prove Draco's worse than Snape was pretty bad considering our 'golden boy' harry has cast unforgivables too and Snape has done a lot worse things than just bullying children or did u forget he was the reason Lily and James died?

I don't understand why in so many videos there's always a kind of debate about whether Draco is "good" or "evil".
I won't write my opinion about him so I won't start an argument or smt,I just want to say that the HP movie series are based on JK's books. And the thing about that is that - especially the books - want the reader to bond with a character, that's why we (in some point) know most characters' backstory besides Harry's (who's the protagonist so it makes perfectly sense for us to know more about him)
It's okay to like Draco because you understand him (with his parents, the mark etc). It's also okay not to like him cause he's a dick and he doesn't behave.
That's the point of reading a book. To hear everyone's story and bond with them. So what's the point of arguing about him all the time?

JK Rowling has every right to hate Draco's fans because they had gone way too far with their headcanons. First they started changing the story for Draco and gave him a hard past he never had, then they made other characters who stand up to him look bad, then justified all his actions and balme it on others (mostly his father) and made all those Draco's headcanons be facts and made his father look abusive towards him and gave him a heartbreaking story so others who didn't read the books feel bad for him, all because his actor is hot. I understand why she doesn't like them, especially because she based his character on her high school bullies and obviously made him be horrible with his creul bully techniques. Draco's fan girls are annoying who only care about look and have no idea about his real story or character, only a few are exceptions who simply like him because they like bad characters (villain type).

Squips are often look down on for not being able to use magic, there’s not many jobs where they’ll fit in
For Flitch working in Hogwarts in any position is the best for him, as it’s the only place he would feel at home
It explains his grochy nature and desire for discipline and control, and how he takes fake magic classes hoping he would wield magic and fit in
All things considered, despite being a grouch, he does a good job managing the castle without magic
