    Best thrower strength video I have come across and I have been looking for almost 2 years.

    For folks who don't have access to a Pit Shark squat machine, I do the same movement using a Safety Squat bar. With the angled bar and the two handles that come out on each side of your head, the bar pretty well balances on your shoulders without being held on by the handles. That leaves your hands free to grab the power cage uprights to aid and assist in the squat movement. It takes a LOT of stress off of the lower back and allows you to keep a more upright body position instead of folding forward as in regular bar back-squats.

    hi sir.. I have two basic problems 1. I am not holding the disc far from the body that results in contraction of the throw and I don't feel the stretch in the chest in release
    2. I wrap up too early which causes torso loss and results in less distance as well as frustration..
    How to deal with my both problems please explain.

      Ayush Gaming I can’t tell you without seeing the throw. But record yourself, then watch your video then watch a professional thrower and see what you’re doing different then change it to match the professional would be the best way to make a change.

    I just complimented you on another of your videos and was wishing that you made a more instructional video for throwers. Then, I found this video. Another excellent production. I am curious - on average, what is the difference in distance between your standing throw and your full spin throws? Also, what is the difference in distance between your throws with and without a reverse at the end? Now I'll look around to see if you have done a video on the shotput - I hope.

    Hi Jordan, I'm loving these videos, may I just ask a question? When you talk about reps/sets you state 3 warm-up sets, then 3 work sets. Do the three work sets each have the same weight, or do you build up it up across the three sets? Thank you.

    Do you have any tips for someone who is constantly being blocked off in the throw? For some reason I can’t drop my left leg back & it sometimes ends up in front of my right leg..

      Jamie Richards yeah I’ve worked to fix that same problem for the past year or more. For myself it took breaking down my technique and forcing myself to land where I need to then keep doing it until I got used to the timing and feeling. The most helpful thing I’ve found is making sure I’m balanced and tall out of the back if I drop my hips back or dive into the middle sometimes the foot has to come down early to stay standing and finish the throw. So clean the back up and it’ll likely help balance and foot position in the middle. Also my next how to throw video will start to cover some rotation and getting the foot down in the right spot so keep an eye out for that it may help

    Thanks for the video. Whats are the rest time ? and how choose the work weight ? Have I to increase if i success to do the X ?

      Pilote Pro we typically do 1-3 minutes rest and 4 minutes for heavy sets to recover. For work weight we use the warm up sets to see how we’re feeling that day and based on previous weeks we can figure out where we want to be for the last 3 sets to get all the reps but push ourselves. So if you do your last 3 sets of x and get all the reps then you can go up next week unless the first work set is very light then we would add more

    Hey man, as a high school thrower soon to go into college, how strong should you be squat, bench, and Olympic lift wise?

      I feel like the average male going to a D1 college for throwing is probably around 400's in squat, mid 300's in bench, around 300 clean, and around 200 snatch. Personally I came in with a 475 squat, 285 bench, 250 clean, and 185 snatch with subpar form on the olympics due to having no guidance in my high school weight room. I made up for my weakness by being quick and explosive though.

    Jordan, more dorsiflexion of left foot during sweep maybe? Wider sweep? Knees pointing apart. Whatcha think?

      David Lingner I think in some of the drills I could have done that more forsure but those were just to feel the movement of my hips over my right side. When I actually throw I don’t have a problem where the foot or sweep leg was. Also I’ve honestly never heard any coach tell me about dorsiflection so I don’t have much of anything to say about that I feel like that’s one of those positions that it doesn’t matter so much how you do it. Like when you wind back it can be done in many different ways as long as you hit the main positions you need after the wind

      @@LifeofJY well I think definitely don't want your toe pointed down right? You kind of lead with the inside of the knee and thigh. But I understand that's not what you were working on today. It's really a challenge to stay focused on one thing isn't it. I'm rooting for you.

    How do you feel about sumo deadlifts and push press?

      Charlie Swift both are good as long as you are healthy and keep good technique. I never deadlift so I don’t have much to say about it’s Benefit though

      Sumo can be just as technical as the Olympic lifts , but are good for quad activation and if done right can be an alternative to conventional deadlift if lower back is injured. ( I know you didn’t ask me but that’s just my input ) but also , If i were to choose between the two , the Olympic lifts would get u more bang for your buck if you’re able to do them. Push press is a great supplement exercise.
      (Again sorry ,I know you didn’t ask me but I hope this helps a little bit)

      Id definitely agree with JY on the DL. The risk far outweighs any benefit that DL may have. If you're serious about throws and want to go heavy for a day, stick to power high pulls, snatch grip high pulls, and hang catch.
