The fact that this was performed on an actual overlook, during an actual sunset, entirely in one-take. Damien Chazelle really deserved Best Director that year.
They have such a natural chemistry - and an easy, natural way of acting, and singing, and dancing together - that it puts you at ease and makes it so enjoyable to watch!
I love this scene. I wish my life was a musical. I love singing and dancing and I don't really get the chance to do it in my life. I thought of going into entertainment years ago but I was concerned about the bad things I'd heard about the industry.
Go do karaoke, the public kind not the private one in a secluded room. It’s like being in a musical without the performance pressure of being in an actual musical. If the right song is up then ppl dance even if the singer isn’t the best and i just makes things better for everyone involved. Feels magical!
The fact that he was parked out the front of the house the whole time just made me smile. In real life, you spend as much time with the people you love, because those little moments like the phone-to-the-chin joke end up being the big moments.
