Crashing was to be expected there, the game simply does not know what to do when Dedede touches that fruit, because it was never intended for him to be able to get it. But if there had ever been plans for him to be able to eat the fruit, it might have been possible that maybe an early version of that mechanic could have appeared. Its sad that thats not the case.
Kirby being able to float was a the idea of giving players a second chance if they fall into a pit. But falling in the pit anyway is strange logic wise, because Kirby could just choose to float, but doesn’t. So seeing him fall in cutscenes or die in a pit has always just been weird to me.
Dedede can't use copy abilities, and there's no contingencies in place for if Dedede gets one. Immortality on Kirby leads to all sorts of screwiness. Kirby becoming a spinning pickaxe doesn't really break much, as every area stone's used has cannons. The world rectangle is designed to keep the game cohesive and immersive, and the bosses fair.

The dedede crash happens because it is trying to load an animation that is incompatible with dedede's model. Same thing happens if you make an ability scence "give" dedede (he is technicaoy an ability) to kirby and then you try to attack.
if there was an smd of the various hypernova animations using dededes model i think itd work for a while also thank you for reminding me of the banger music this has
What I'd like to see is what would happen if Kirby was in Dededetour. Or at the very least the ending where he destroys the Dimension Mirror Also if that getting shot out of a cannon animation could harm bosses or mid bosses

What if you use the thing where you're constantly spinning in the air and you can break blocks and you fight a boss with it
Other then it doing a little bit less damage then the crash ability. Nothing really game breaking happens sadly.
