Dr. Melfi not in the end getting revenge for her ordeal was the point - she is not like Tony Soprano, or even dabbling in the grey areas like Carmela or Meadow. She is still a moral person guided by her conscience, and having the power to destroy someone, even if she could have gotten away with it, she chooses not to use it. A bit like Galadriel in Lord Of The Rings - she passes the test, and remains fundamentally herself.
