Just after Apollo 13 came out, I saw an interview with a NASA engineer who had worked on the launch pad for the real Apollo 13. He said that some of the scenes depicting the launch sequence were so well done that the only way he could tell they weren't real was because he knew there hadn't been a camera in that position.
Absolutely astonished that there is no mention of Mary Poppins on here. The research that went into identifying British garden birds and Cockney accents was so spot on, you'd hardly know it was an American production.
Contact is by no means Carl Sagan’s “singular legacy.”
Whatculture be morons, top to bottom!
As a ex-combat engineer in the army in the movie Nobody when he's in the club with the claymore I told my kids that he couldn't set it off because the red det cord wasn't on it or connected but then at the end when actually used it the red det cord was in its proper place whoever was in charge of that deserve a raise a very good raise lol
Good fact to know, thanks
Inside Out is worth watching just for the post credits scene with the minds of the cat and the pre-teen boy. The whole movie does a brilliant job of setting up the context to enjoy those 🤣
As a friend of mine said, when the trailer for Michael Bay's Pearl Harbour aired, 'that will be a movie about how America *won* the battle of Pearl Harbour. Against the British!'
Remarkable for raising one’s intonation at the end of a Sentence. Every single sentence.
He’s annoying as f***!
With an extra "ah" sound added-ah to-ah the-ah end-ah of-ah most-ah words-ah.
I wont even start on "The Lion King" being accurate but the Martian has the BIG flaw that the Storm at the start would have felt like a breeze because of the low atmosphere...
Yes. But they do acknowledge it's inaccuracy in the video, too.
@@stevenstump246 it doesnt, the video states that "storms that deadly are unlikely" while the movie says the storm is 200m/h or something and that isnt much energy in mars lower atmosphere...
The Lion King still blows my mind even after 30 years. The animation, the music, the performances, it still holds up as perhaps the best ink-and-cell animated movie, and they didn't shy away from the understanding that a true hero requires true tragedy.
Also: United! United! United!
I'm a fan of Man U, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Chicago Cubs. If the Cubs can take the pennant, United can find their stride.
Thank you for including Tora! Tora! Tora!
The fact that half of the movies on this list are from 40+ years ago shows the current state of Hollywood as storytellers.
4:31 Man United fan as well
I would add Ron Howard's Rush to this list. It's a very good and underrated movie
How is animal Hamlet accurate?
Master and Commander that movie did it's homework.
A Night to Remember was wrong in its portrayal of the Titanic sinking. The White Star Line denied eyewitness accounts of the ship splitting in two and the movie accepted their claim. Only when they found the ship did they realize the accounts were true.
The thing about eyewitness testimony is that it isn't always reliable. I have degrees in Constitutional Law. Even in the late 1980's, when I went to college, profs warned us that eyewitness testimony should be taken with a grain of salt. One example is an event that played out when I was a cop. One day I was looking for a man with a gun. I was told his shirt could be white, or half black/half white, green or even green and red. It turned out to be a polo shirt that was white with a black collar.
Considering that Titanic survivors had been double traumatized (the event + the weather), until the wreck was found, no one could be absolutely sure. Even today, there is is a dispute about the rivets popping, or did Titanic run up on an ice shelf protruding from the iceberg?
I could bring up other examples, but what's the point?
Thev"Martian" was great just one detail..in Mars gravity is less than earth but shows the actor struggles and cursed planet for it
Aladdin is the greatest Disney movie
You could add 13 Lives to this list. The way they depict the rescue was amazing.
Tora, Tora, Tora is great and I love A Night To Remember, All the President’s Men and Downfall.
The Martian was a book first. I'm pretty sure that the movie makers did not have to do that much research.
He specifically said they didn't just rely on the book but did their own research to make sure everything was the way it was supposed to be. More impressive because they could have just cribbed off the book
Awesome 🎉🎉🎉🎉
The ship at 06:30 looks like a Knox class frigate, which weren't built unti 1965.
I lost all respect for the Academy Awards, and never watched them again, the year that Babe won the Oscar for best special effects over Apollo 13.
I actually read that Roosevelt did stand on a few occasions when speaking, look it up.
Downfall is a great movie. Its incredible how it can give you empathy for a monster
R.I.P Bing Bong.
All the President's Men is top notch.
Its overkill not over the top. I hope it made sense to you.
P.S. As a director it is not overkill for me unless the same put unreasonable burdern on the production.
'Shuttle'?
'Spacecraft' or 'capsule' maybe, but not 'shuttle'!
So I take it no foubd footage is going to be on this list
Fantasia
Jeffrey Katzenberg Produced a Movie about Lions…. Ironic
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER doesn't show how Lightoller caused the death of many people by launching lifeboats with up to a third of the spaces not occupied
Europa: The Last Battle.
Mulan (original) is the greatest Disney film.
Totally disagree with Downfall being accurate. There's NO WAY Hitler had an opinion about Kanye interrupting Taylor Swift at the VMAs.
On the other hand, have you seen the movie Private Parts? The guy who plays Howard Stern totally nailed it, spot on.
"...UND STEINER!!!"
I enjoy all of WhatCulture videos
I hate what culture for getting rid of ASH MILLMAN!!! WE WANT ASH!!!
Frozen is the best Disney movie so far.
Titanic did a better job handling the actual destruction of the ship, as it was found to have broken in half like in the movie.
Snow White 1937 is the Greatest Disney Cartoon.
Please continue
Algorithm 👍🏾😊
Ford vs. Ferrari

Contact is phenomenal! I cannot fully explain how brilliant Contact is! It reamains VERY high on my list of my favorite films of all time! Contact is the epitome of hard sci-fi! 4:44
I can not wrap my mind around the hate this movie got/gets. Very underrated film

Thanks for citing Tora! Tora! Tora! (“Tiger! Tiger! Tiger!”), the codephrase to signify a successful strike on Pearl Harbor) over the 2001 ‘update’. It was the superior version, same with the 1976 film version of Midway over the recent remake.
Yes! The Lion King IS the greatest Disney movie of all time!
Soooooooo…are we to have a follow up? Movies..(films) where america disrespects the dead of their allies? U571 would be a start….
We'd need more than ten entries for that one.
Enough said...

Man U fan? Commiserations for your poor life choices!
Marek E Smith
Thank god the narrator has toned down his delivery
The -“ah” is awful
Such delivery only works with sadly deceased aforementioned titular singer of The Fall
Much more clearer and understandable
