Thank you but I still think you got some things wrong. 2014 actually got about 10:00 minutes of screen time, second, the character thing is subjective but something most people I have talked to also feel, 2017 for me didn't have atmosphere because Godzilla wasn't shown as a threat and was only talked abut as being one. The way 2014 did it was better imo because again he was also talked about but delivered and impacted the plot greatly unlike the first Godzilla. And your last point I 100% disagree with, 2014 was the start of a trilogy but there was still character development. It was a solid story from start to finish unlike this film which is why I don't like it the most.

Anything that can shrug of that much artillery is pretty threatening. Not to mention that the second Godzilla in the film is 300 meters tall. If that’s not a threat I don’t know what is. And as to Godzilla not using physical attacks, he was not fighting other kaiju or mechgodzilla. He was fighting fast moving air vehicles. I can remember very few times in which Godzilla fought off the military with physical attacks. I would also like to add that the your intro was WAY to disturbing.
The entire intro sequence and the prequel books should have been made into the movie, seeing the the world gradually fall apart and Godzilla being a unstoppable scary horrifying beast killing all of the monsters and humans is way more interesting

The Godzilla Earth trilogy actually is a good paralell to the new Star Wars trilogy: Completely shallow and lacking what made the films traditionally good, preferring really shallow characters, plot contrivances, and plot cul-de-sacs over compelling characters, worldbuilding or even satisfying action.
I know this is very late, but I just wanted to point out the difference between Shin Godzilla and this. Shin Godzilla is a movie resembling a sci-fi drama than an action thriller, while this is a feature-length anime. They stick to the typical anime tropes here, with the stereotypical characters as you pointed out. But Shin Godzilla is more grounded on reality in the way it portrays how a government would react to something like this. Though it is fun to watch the human protagonist's thrilling adventure of fighting the monster, there is really nothing much an individual can do in face of disasters of this scale. But Monster Planet is a fantasy/sci-fi with typical anime tropes, so we can't really compare the two. They are completely different and should be looked at as such. PS: Haru is the typical angsty teen, driven by personal loss. If you like such characters, you will like him. It is highly subjective as you say. The two alien factions just reflect human philosophies. Even the Houtua is the same.
As someone who grew up with the Big G during my childhood in the 90s, I can definitely say that you are no true G Fan (in the sense that every Godzilla movie has its own pros and cons and can still be liked subjectively). The whole mess and divide you created by stating 2014 was better than Shin is just baffling. The more I look at your criticism, the more I stare to see that your no different than a casual G fan in the sense that your only in it for the kaiju fights. If everything is objective and not subjective, then you will clearly only listen to the side that you created, which if I had to be honest, is a pretty sad way to see life. Btw, I prefer both 2014 and Shin equally, both had their own faults, yet both had their own pros. Godzilla: Monster Planet has faults, yet at the same time has its own pros as well. Godzilla feels like it was added to the story as a secondary reasons. Shin Godzilla felt more traditional of Godzilla in the since that it is a spiritual successor to the original 1954 movie. It focuses on Godzilla, how Godzilla may potentially be a bigger than the government assumes, and how inept the government fails when they can't stop Godzilla. Context is key when you examine and compare. It really is unjustifiable to say G14 is better than Shin when you are looking at two different type of genres. G14 goes for the classic Godzilla kaiju fight-esque action movie while Shin goes back to being a drama horror movie that the original 1954 movie was.

Godzilla Monster Planet was awesome and had a great story you just don't Like Toho, it was slow at the beginning, but I had great character development, it was better than shin Godzilla, I actually care about the people in the movie and Godzilla design was great, I will give Godzilla monster planet 9/10

If anyone wants to watch an actually enjoyable Godzilla anime movie, they should just rewatch “Godzilla: final wars”. That is a 100% anime movie despite it being live-action.

This movie wasn't that bad. It had decent acting, good effects, and great build up. And the godzilla designs were awesome. Besides, this was a new take on Godzilla, one where instead of Godzilla being a mutant, he is the being the earth itself creates to exterminate humans. What Godzilla movie do you know where Godzilla's only motive is not to feed on radiation, but the purpose to exterminate all mankind.
When the real Godzilla emerged, I was like, "O.M.G...." And then I was like, "Wait...I already knew this was going to happen, Toho told us it's going to be a trilogy, so there HAS to be another Godzilla..." And some of my excitement admittedly died, but still, real Godzilla is epic.

Not a fully-roboted Godzilla, but it’s the brother of Godzilla, killed and preserved in ice, once rebuilt, he was programmed to destroy his own brother, ultimately he was stomped on the face by his own living brother.

Okay this might be the first time i actually put hatred into a comment but... BITCH! The movie is about the aftermath and the sorrow of the last humans survivors, you don't need to see 50 warheads falling from above to love a movie, in fact it's better when the movie say what happened without showing you exactly HOW it happened. I showed the three movies to my father (who is totally not a fan of anime but know that love is wisdom and hatred is foolish) and he loved the movies mainly because there is so much GOOD character development. Plus the kind of anime for these movies is unique (as far as a know), a mix between 2d and 3d CGI. I never seen anything like this. Plus the second and third movies made me cry. WITH ACTUAL TEARS, i am a true man. The reason Godzilla have so little time in screen is because the movies are about the humans. Godzilla is merely a storm that is doing what he is meant to do (only those who watched the third movie will understand that). Actually i don't think i would have loved these if they where focusing 80% on Godzilla and barely the humans (if not at all). You understood jackshit about the movie. I highly agree. This movie disappointed me. And while, I have respect for the people that put their heart and soul into it, and that the visuals are breathtaking. The story, and animation style is not for me. Godzilla 2014 hasn’t been topped by any Godzilla movie since then. But this, does put a smile on my face

And if it's a planned trilogy, then this is a great first act (although the flashback could be a lot better) it's not meant to be a standalone movie like resurgence.
I thought it was okay. Just okay. With my limited experience with anime it seems pretty standard to have a crazy underdog protagonists, the crush, the brute, the one whose gender you question, and a ginormous antagonist with impossible power with a following cliffhanger. So that being considered I thought it was all right.

The Godzilla Earth trilogy actually is a good paralell to the new Star Wars trilogy: Completely shallow and lacking what made the films traditionally good, preferring really shallow characters, plot contrivances, and plot cul-de-sacs over compelling characters, worldbuilding or even satisfying action.

I know this is very late, but I just wanted to point out the difference between Shin Godzilla and this. Shin Godzilla is a movie resembling a sci-fi drama than an action thriller, while this is a feature-length anime. They stick to the typical anime tropes here, with the stereotypical characters as you pointed out. But Shin Godzilla is more grounded on reality in the way it portrays how a government would react to something like this. Though it is fun to watch the human protagonist's thrilling adventure of fighting the monster, there is really nothing much an individual can do in face of disasters of this scale. But Monster Planet is a fantasy/sci-fi with typical anime tropes, so we can't really compare the two. They are completely different and should be looked at as such.
PS: Haru is the typical angsty teen, driven by personal loss. If you like such characters, you will like him. It is highly subjective as you say. The two alien factions just reflect human philosophies. Even the Houtua is the same.
This trilogy was so bad to the point where it shouldn't even be canon to the Godzilla franchise.
As someone who grew up with the Big G during my childhood in the 90s, I can definitely say that you are no true G Fan (in the sense that every Godzilla movie has its own pros and cons and can still be liked subjectively). The whole mess and divide you created by stating 2014 was better than Shin is just baffling. The more I look at your criticism, the more I stare to see that your no different than a casual G fan in the sense that your only in it for the kaiju fights. If everything is objective and not subjective, then you will clearly only listen to the side that you created, which if I had to be honest, is a pretty sad way to see life. Btw, I prefer both 2014 and Shin equally, both had their own faults, yet both had their own pros. Godzilla: Monster Planet has faults, yet at the same time has its own pros as well. I'm glad someone like D Man called out your bs. G fan communities are already small as they are, and we definitely don't need someone like you who creates controversy for the sake of controversy (and money).

Arrogance and hostility is what I would describe your mentality. Instead of trying to be subjective, you have to be objective and defend it to the core. Do you try hearing how you sound like? Your so close minded that its gone to the point that you probably deny such criticisms to your own self. And I don't mean criticisms that insult, I mean legit criticisms that probably a lot of people seem to see about you that you yourself don't.
And again, you sort of don't understand why G fans were divided over 2014 Godzilla. People who say they hate it have about the same mentality as people as yourself who hate Shin Godzilla. If I had to say the truth, the reason 2014 Godzilla was a love/hate relationship was because how the movie focus on the MUTO as its primary source to keep the story interesting. Godzilla feels like it was added to the story as a secondary reasons.
Shin Godzilla felt more traditional of Godzilla in the since that it is a spiritual successor to the original 1954 movie. It focuses on Godzilla, how Godzilla may potentially be a bigger than the government assumes, and how inept the government fails when they can't stop Godzilla. Context is key when you examine and compare. It really is unjustifiable to say G14 is better than Shin when you are looking at two different type of genres. G14 goes for the classic Godzilla kaiju fight-esque action movie while Shin goes back to being a drama horror movie that the original 1954 movie was.

What does the intro have to do with Shin Godzilla?
This movie wasn't that bad. It had decent acting, good effects, and great build up. And the godzilla designs were awesome. Besides, this was a new take on Godzilla, one where instead of Godzilla being a mutant, he is the being the earth itself creates to exterminate humans. What Godzilla movie do you know where Godzilla's only motive is not to feed on radiation, but the purpose to exterminate all mankind.

Story of Godzilla when it was on Earth and people leaving Earth, i would like to see that as a 2nd or at least as a 3rd movie it just would be interesting, that's it...

1. This Godzilla is not boring, it's very interesting and different than any other version, at least not for many of us
2. This godzilla is sure moving slowly, but it's reaction is pretty fast, so he could follow those flying people on their machines whitout any problem
3. There is no reason and way for him to attack physicaly, sibce he is not fighting giant kaiju but small and super fast human, it's better to use A.B. whith the speed of light to destroy them
4. Just seeing what happened to the earth and people because of godzilla is reason enough to feel his presense
5. 17:39 that's the most epic, badass godzilla ever, over 300 meter hight, more power and ofcource more skills because it lived for 20 000 years, it just can't be the same as the littelone
And ruling the whoule planet is quite badass and the point of this film is presenting godzilla earth, to explain it's power/abilities and his nature

Not a fully-roboted Godzilla, but it’s the brother of Godzilla, killed and preserved in ice, once rebuilt, he was programmed to destroy his own brother, ultimately he was stomped on the face by his own living brother.

BITCH! The movie is about the aftermath and the sorrow of the last humans survivors, you don't need to see 50 warheads falling from above to love a movie, in fact it's better when the movie say what happened without showing you exactly HOW it happened.
I showed the three movies to my father (who is totally not a fan of anime but know that love is wisdom and hatred is foolish)
and he loved the movies mainly because there is so much GOOD character development.
Plus the kind of anime for these movies is unique (as far as a know), a mix between 2d and 3d CGI. I never seen anything like this.
Plus the second and third movies made me cry.
WITH ACTUAL TEARS, i am a true man. The reason Godzilla have so little time in screen is because the movies are about the humans. Godzilla is merely a storm that is doing what he is meant to do (only those who watched the third movie will understand that). Actually i don't think i would have loved these if they where focusing 80% on Godzilla and barely the humans (if not at all).

Man, I liked this trilogy. But I had to stop the video when you started dissin on Shin-Godzilla. That was a freakin masterpiece. But I guess to each his own, eh?

I highly agree. This movie disappointed me. And while, I have respect for the people that put their heart and soul into it, and that the visuals are breathtaking. The story, and animation style is not for me. Godzilla 2014 hasn’t been topped by any Godzilla movie since then.
But this, does put a smile on my face

I thought it was okay. Just okay. With my limited experience with anime it seems pretty standard to have a crazy underdog protagonists, the crush, the brute, the one whose gender you question, and a ginormous antagonist with impossible power with a following cliffhanger. So that being considered I thought it was all right.
