  • Day 28/30 and we are nearing the home stretch of our Spring Cleaning Spree! Today we are cleaning our interior windows and tracts. You will need to collect a few tools before beginning this job; a small toothbrush or paintbrush (or something small with bristles), vacuum, microfiber cloths, bucket, dish soap, and a squeegee. I really like this Ettore window cleaning kit on Amazon (you can find it in my Amazon storefront) for about $25 and it did a nice job of speeding up the process and windows looking great. I usually try to do this job twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall. It’s surprising how much dirt can collect over the winter time, and quite a bit blows in throughout summer. This is a great time, too, to check your windows over for mold or any repairs that may need to be done. I hope your weekend is winding down well and we’ll see you tomorrow for Day 29!

Protip..... pick up a denture cleaning brush from the dollar store. They have longer bristles than a toothbrush. And they have angled bristles on one side. Great investment.

I haven’t been cleaning along the same because of my work schedule and since I live in a high-rise apartment, but I cleaned my entire bathroom top to bottom today. I used your 3 ingredient solution but I think I went too heavy on the vinegar and now my bathroom needs to be aired out 😅

Careful with vinegar and other acidic detergents around window insulations! You might damage it, as far as I know

How often do you find mold and mildew when cleaning window sills? I feel like they’re in every window in the house when cleaning them up

You forgot the secret ingredient when washing the windows. Do you add a little bit of white vinegar to the water and dish soap the vinegar helps reduce water spots.

When you use a squeegee, you don’t get water spots.

    Well made short, but:
“Vinegar is a good cleaner because it's acidic, but when you add dishwashing liquid/dish soap to it (which is a base or neutral) - you neutralise the vinegar. You take away the very thing that makes it work well. “The dishwashing liquid works that well on its own. Adding the vinegar is a pointless step.”Feb 8, 2022

Thanks for that piece of info. It's apparently true with pure/Castile soap & to a lesser degree with synthetic soap. Recommended is homemade APC (H2O w/ a little soap) & then a vinegar rinse. Gotta ❤ science!!

It’s more easier if u use a microfibre cloth in a bucket of warm water with dish soap and just wipe the window and then just use a dry cloth and wipe the window and that’s it !

Dont squeegee side to side. It leaves marks, try the proper way you will see after couple windows it turns out way easier and faster then side tracking
