    If Giggles Cookies were made today, they’d probably be called Emoji cookies.
    That ABC Weekend Special commercial was dope.

    The Giggles little kid is so cute, lol! Also, I found it interesting that both juice boxes advertised had such similar commercials (kids in bands).

    Dang, right in the feels!
    I think I've said it before(on another one of these vids), but as a kid, watching some of these commercials, they'd play to the point that I could memorize all their lines, and then after a while has passed, I just forgot they even existed. Less than 30 years later, watching them now, the SECOND the musical cue starts up, my brain goes in rewind mode and all the lines(and even song jingles) come back to me like if no time has passed at all. CRAZY, but also pretty heartwarming! Totally awesome!

    Yum, Giggles cookies. They weren't around long, I guess they never caught on. They did have an unusual taste..

    The girl in yellow in the Choco Bliss commercial reminds me of a 90's star but I can't think of who.

    I actually sang along to the right to say no one. The word Memories can't even describe how I felt when I saw that one.

    I enjoyed those ABC Weekend Specials. They did some pretty good ghost stories. 0:15 Im not ashamed to say it, I had a crush on the middle back up singer.

      ***** I noticed immediately when the narrator said that and I don't know why he stated it in that fashion. Yes, they certainly knew what allergies were many decades before 1987. Also, loved the Rice Krispies ad!!!!

  • @mefault
    @mefault 9 лет назад +2

    Yes, that's Fergie in the Barbie commercial. And by the way, there's an even LONGER anti-dru PSA (Right to say no) in which the singer is in a car breaking 4th wall at the very end. It's somewhere here on youtube & it wasn't shown often in full length.

    Ah, so it's true...My idea of what things should cost really is stuck in the 80s. Unril just a few years ago, I would have said "it will be a cold day in hell before I pay $40 for a pair of boots."

    Are you back to uploading videos on a regular schedule or occasionally?
    I forgot about these PSAs. Scatman Crothers singing Nutty Gritty. I think this one might have been around in the '70s. Now I remember the other PSA "Don't Drown Your Food" which, if I recall correctly, was about not "drowning" your salad with dressing. I could be wrong, though.

    That Giggles cookie ad was memorable back then, but now? I think this was the forerunner of the 'enhanced slurping sound' commercials of the 90s. It JUST DIDN'T STOP.
    Barney called Fred an a**hole! 'Hilariously offensive' is right!
    Kids these days have no idea what it was like to use straws that didn't bend, like in the Hi-C ad.
    I'm sure I was still watching The Smurfs on NBC, because I almost never caught The Ewoks (or Droids) when it was on. Were the Gummi Bears on any of these tapes? I always seemed to catch them.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  9 лет назад +2

      Yoda Pagoda Not sure if you're serious, but Barney is actually saying "Ah so!" which is just one of the many outdated Japanese stereotypes depicted in that commercial.
      Vols. 240 through 243 feature breaks from NBC's Saturday Morning.

    • @YodaPagoda
      @YodaPagoda 9 лет назад +1

      Yeah there's no way that commercial would've ended up on TV these days. I really wish I could find another example of the "Ah so!" trope, where it's deliberately ambiguous what the Asian stereotype is saying. Something like "A cowboy hat wearing rube goes to a Chinese restaurant and gets what he deserves."

    Giggles cookies were really good, though I remember them being a bit soft.
    Funny how many things they don't seem to advertise anymore. Juices and candy bars and the like don't pop up on tv much anymore. I wonder if there was limiting legislation passed?
