      I loved it too, but I also loved the strictly ballet series, which is available on RUclips. So mixture of the two would be great as I enjoyed seeing it on RUclips 🙈

    Such a treat to see the amazing teachers at SAB passing on the things Mr. B. taught them. Great to see the SAB students taking it all in. I always loved seeing Kay Mazzo, Suki Schorer, and Aesha Ash on stage when I was younger and was very inspired by them.

    Many of the teachers I have seen dancing on the NYC Ballet stage years ago, like Kay Mazzo and Aesha Ash and Adam Hendrickson. I remember Dena Abergel, who is in charge of the children's repertory now. I once was invited to sit and watch a class of advanced girls led by Suki Schorer. That was such a privilege. She is a legend at SAB.

    Could someone explain to me why they all bend their knee when closing from a tondu devant? My teacher always corrects us and tells us to keep our knee straight, but these girls seem to be doing it intentionally? Idk only curious. No criticism to the dancers, they were all beautiful!

    • @emmabarnard5638
      @emmabarnard5638 2 года назад +1

      Sometimes if you have hyperextended knees it can cause you to need to bend your knee a bit when closing into fifth. Its not ideal but for some girls you have to bend it a bit.

    Around 12:35 the guy closest to the camera's jumps are amazing. The quality is awesome.🤩👍 The only thing is, if you watch his feet, @ 12:50, his heels sometimes don't touch the ground and sometimes they do a rebound bounce. 😬 Just watch out for that, could cause injury eventually if continues.

    • @Sunflower_vally
      @Sunflower_vally 2 года назад +4

      Unfortionately it's balanchine technique, usually in plies the dancers don't put their heels on the ground, one of the main reasons why I strongly dislike balanchine and think it needs to go.

    • @SadieGdancing
      @SadieGdancing 2 года назад

      @@Sunflower_vally it wasn't that his heels didn't touch the ground... I saw his heel do a double bounce on the floor. My teacher caught me doing that and I wasn't allowed to jump in class until the exercises she gave me showed correction and strength.

    This is an amazing look behind the scenes! But I am curious, it is wonderful that you have teachers of all ages, genders, and ethnicities. But I noticed that especially in the women’s class, the population is mostly Caucasian. Is that because of issues with outreach, tradition, or other factors? There seem to be more male dancers of color in classes and companies - not just yours - than there are female. And also curious about why you think Nyc ballet has never had an African American female principal?

    • @rastar154
      @rastar154 2 года назад +4

      They actually are a very diverse school. Not sure why some of the more known girls weren’t shown in the class but the classes shown were a smaller selection of their classes.
