I've used to have some homeless friends come by and watch my store (I was a gas station attendant for a year) for me while I had to do some stuff. I think what you're doing is fine. Growing up in a similar situation as that kid, i can tell you that trying to get an id without any of the paperwork you need is almost impossible. It makes you feel trapped because you cant open a bank account without an id, without a bank account no job. Probably the most difficult thing to do at a young age without any sort of guidance or parents.
So how did you end up getting a new ID? Did you also not have a your social or birth certificate. My friend is in a similar situation and he feels stuck.
I was able to get my birth certificate with school transcripts and a piece of mail, then was able to get a social sec. card with that then was able to get an id with all that done. it wasn't until I was 21 that I finally got an id. took almost 4years to get it.
@@NateXVII it was a current address. it's honestly all about finding the right person to talk to. a lot of people that work at these places don't think from a compassionate view and are only looking for people trying to commit fraud. so us people that are really in need of help get overlooked because in their eyes, it's impossible to not have any of these things because they lived a completely different life.

Just happened to stumble across your videos literally today and this is maybe my second one I’ve watched and I gotta say it is admirable treating the homeless kid with respect and kindness, very rare to see that nowadays especially from a store owner.
We had coin operated laundry machines for two years. They never worked because the owners of the crack den on the second floor two buildings over would come in at 2 AM and rip the machines apart for the coins. I think all the machines had been replaced 20 times in a year and they would stay intact for less than 24 hours before these two people would rip them up for quarters. A new property company bought it out and replaced the coins with card readers so we have actual machines again.

That could cost alot of time and money. I myself am homeless and I would never expect anyone to help me but I'd want people to help my mom or other single mothers cause they truly are heroes single fathers as well
I know the kid is homeless and that's a sad situation but no single mother with her child coming to wash there laundry is gonna stop at your store and feel safe with homeless inside & hanging out those guys are hurting your business no matter how much your going to renovate the store. I would not encourage this can't wait to see new equipment 👍
Having been homeless in the past I appreciate your willingness to help people. I was able to pull myself out of that situation. As far as a home address in my town they have a nonprofit that maintains a mail facility so the homeless have an address to get mail sent to. Maybe there might be a similar place locally?

Sometimes a shelter's address can be used for those types of things, employment, etc. Had to do the same thing for a lady at Taco Bell yesterday stuck in the snow!

You should paint and put in new floors at the laundry mat before you put in the new equipment it would make it look alot nicer and cleaner if you did that. Plus you should get a automatic coin counter it would make things alot easier for you plus they short out the quarter,dimes and nickels for you .

My ex husband used to make friends with the locals in downtown SLC when he was a security guard. People made fun of him because it's his job to kick them out of places and he'd like ask their names, talk to them, walk them somewhere safe if they wanted him to, give them a drink and a sandwich etc. They kept saying more and more homeless would come and expect that from him etc. He didn't quit. In winter he had me buy hand warmers in bulk and he handed them out too. He was probably the best protected person on the streets at night! They helped him keep an eye on his properties and were really nice whenever he needed help etc. They are people too and people tend to just forget that. Maybe he can get his SS and work for you part time or something! I think the gamble will pay off! My favorite laundry mat ever had a pinball machine. lol
In Florida theres a charity called forgotten angles that help kids that age out of the foster system. There doing good work other youtube channels there are trying to help

Moreover, if you can get them to keep an eye on your laundromat, you can actually help them out of homelessness by offering a way to make money. And you know, you also own houses that are not all occupied.

Ever Find Slugs? The ones from Electrical Boxes that have a Slight defect from where they attach but can be Hammered Flat and are the Same Size as Quarters? They work in Machines with the Slots you set the quarters side by side and push in. Or even Wood ones cut to fit.

My orphaned nephew also had issues getting a birth certificate and SSN, but we got that worked out and now he has an ID and can look for work if he wasn't so lazy.
Why not just use the quarters from the laundry/soda machine to refill the coin exchanger? No need to bring the quarters back home to count when its all circulating within the same building. Bringing just the cash home would net the same revenues and save a ton of time. Am I missing something?
This is what development looks like. Taking old broken crap, biting the bullet, and getting new equipment. Though I love history, the older stuff needs to go.
If they're not acting a fool then kindness and charity to the less fortunate is a good thing. You're also giving them something other than cash (DRUGS, BOOZE) so kudos there. Maybe when the kid gets their life turned around they'll remember you did them a good turn and keep using the laundromat. Either way, a few pops outta the machine isn't breaking your bank so it's worth it just to do a good turn and put a smile on some peoples faces.
I have a question about your coin collection. Does your bank receive them in bulk or do you have to wrap them up in groups of say $50 in quarters? Same question with dollars...are they banded?

I honestly think instead of just giving the kid money, you should give him a job. Like perhaps have him clean up your laundry mat and keep an eye on it so it doesn't get messed with. Then pay him a weekly amount you seem fit or get him food and a small fridge at the laundry mat where he can keep it safe. Just an idea, regardless what you're doing is kind so definitely keep up the good work.

They CARES act included legislation to allow foster kids to stay into care longer and money to aid in transitioning out. Foster youth have a much higher rate of incarceration and homelessness. I hope someone could talk to him about Job Corps. Many are residential programs. One here in Maryland is on the grounds of a former monestary and looks like a college campus! Housing and initial job skill.

Banks have coin counter machines throw the pile in and they count it out and sorts it

They CARES act included legislation to allow foster kids to stay into care longer and money to aid in transitioning out. Foster youth have a much higher rate of incarceration and homelessness. I hope someone could talk to him about Job Corps. Many are residential programs. One here in Maryland is on the grounds of a former monestary and looks like a college campus! Housing and initial job skill.
that car man you guys just have to shovel the snow out from under and around the tires, pretty easy ive done it multiple times. For that car and that shovel right next to it I would have it out in 5-10 minutes.

Not a while ago I watched video that you shouldn’t show keys, because some people might abuse HQ video (especially go pro) to reproduce keys and get you robbed.
Not to worry about me (I’m too far away -5k miles away and too lazy for this), but maybe consider this in future videos.

You should always be nice to the locals especially the homeless, they are the ones who will protect your business with their life’s because in their eyes your die of the few who have respect for them and they will give you respect back and protect you business whenever possible
