Born 1955, knocking on the door of 70, which is only a number. I still have 2 large vegetable gardens and flower gardens. Love watching your videos with your family. Always remember nothing we have comes with us when time is up. So if your truck is still working then that’s all that matters. Know that you are definitely providing for your family, this is what’s important. Enjoy your life and family,
@@cathylastrapes714 I am right behind you. I will be harvesting sweet potatoes at the end of September. Okras and peppers soon I hope and this is all on a patio in grow bags. I learnt from Mike 4 years ago during the pandemic. 😊
Born 1956. Murray McMurray is my go-to place for chicks. My favorite is still the Delaware for XL brown eggs and tasty meat but I still raise one batch of Cornish Cross a year as well. For other egg layers I have a few RIRs, Black Australorps, Silver Lace Wyandotte's (all named Lacie), some White Leghorns and one Buff Orpington.
Just moved to the countryside, started raising Dwarf Kochin (not sure if that is right English translation:)) and growing a garden at 63 and am so happy - longtime dream come true! Thank you so much for very nice videos! Love from Norway.
I was born in 1953 Grew up in upstate NY and we had some chickens & ducks most every year. Also had feeder pigs and a few sheep. My older sister had a couple horses we kids learned to ride on. Now that Im old I live in Florida but being in an apartment complex I dont have any animals or garden
Hi Mike and wonderful family I just want to say I enjoyed watching your videos your family is beautiful and your daughter especially as a wonderful blessing she is an amazing hard worker You guys are very lucky your boys are also just as amazing as her keep up the good work family You're doing a wonderful job. Born in 1977😊
My Aunt raised 26000 chickens at a time in two nice chicken houses for years. Then the company they used to bring the chicks stopped delivering to the mountain so they had to stop. It was an amazing site to see when you opened the door and all those baby chicks moved back. It looked like a yellow carpet unfolding. :) You have a beautiful family. Enjoy watching your baby grow and start talking. So sweet.
Answering your question: More than 80 years ago. In fact I saw 80 some time ago. I remember Mother using rationing the end of and after WW2 and the shortages until the mid 1950s (some ration items ended in 1954). With many non-essential items not appearing until the 1960s. So we lived your lifestyle out of necessity and loved it. We got a black and white TV sometime in the late 1950s that got 3 channels " sometimes " when we moved the antenna the right way and manually adjusted the picture in. At the time it was amazing.
2,4,7, 9 was from Canada. We were the first on the block with color t.v. Remember the vinyl blue on top for the sky, Clear in middle and green for grass on bottom. L.O.L. Didn't matter what was shown on t.v. A.M. 📻 I still have my dad A.M. F.M. Radio 📻 Looks just like this one . We had great music too. Thank you
I am 68 years old and grew up in Kannapolis, China Grove, Salisbury, and Granite Quarry. There's nothing wrong with having a truck that's older. At least you have no payments on it. Blessings!!!
Hello , tks for video. Born in 1960. We had out house, remember killing chickens, hogs, cows all the old ways. Draw water from the well. Much has changed. Thankful for your sharing this life style as many may have to return to this way of living. God bless ya'll...
1964. Have Redstars from Murry McMurry, a huge garden, a Harvest Right, and can. My Daddy was a "Shade Tree Mechanic." He made sure his daughters knew about cars. It sounds like your truck needs work on the suspension. And NO, your truck isn't too old! I've driven older vehicles. "Drive it until it dies," is my motto!
I was born in 1955. I just moved my 22 chicks out on grass. I ordered the rainbow collection for the colored eggs and ordered five Cochins cuz I like their feathered feet. You guys are doing great on growing your farm. Hezekiah is adorable making the animals sounds. Lacie, have a Happy Birthday!!!
Born August 1967. Mike you inspire me. I will be purchasing a piece of land and putting a tiny house on it with solar power and rain water catchment at least for my animals and garden. I live in Houston Texas so heat will be my nemesis. My goal is to raise chickens for eggs and of course have a raised bed garden. At the ripe old age of 57 I am medically retired and just want to live peacefully and self sustainably. With God's grace I will see my goals to fruition. I love your channel watching your family grow and prosper gives me great joy. You and your wife should be proud. Anyway I know that I am guaranteed a smile and or a chuckle when I watch your channel so keep em coming! 😊❤ Ms.Pat

Born 1955.. we just have our six girls.. 5 black australorps and a lone isa brown who is living out her retirement years. We live on one acre in an eco village (500 acres) in Queensland Australia. 120 @ one acre blocks and the rest is wildlife reserves. No domestic animals like dogs or cats, but the trade off is kangaroos, echidnas and koalas.
I was born 1958, sometimes I get dad rlto watch certain clips & he recently had a big party he was born 1934! In in a wheelchair & he's starting to hobble around.
Hen I was 9 or 10 years old and lived in a small Texas town, our family was poor and I seldom had enough to eat. When we went to my grandmother's home for Sunday lunch, we had great food to et in abundance. I realized that the reason was that she had a large garden and raised chickens and rabbits. I asked her how I could do the same and she gave me a small setting hen and 10 eggs. She also gave me seeds for a garden. When I set the little hen on the eggs and told the story to an old retired guy who sat around my dads ice house and swapped stories with other retired guys, he advised me to go to the local feed store and buy some more chicks and place them under the hen at night. I found and returned soda bottles for enough money to buy 12 chicks and placed them under the hen. She raised all 22 chicks to adulthood and we ate eggs and fried chicken from then on. The year was about 1953.
I look for good egg producers who don’t eat as much as larger birds that are dual purpose. Tried a lot of breeds and after 18 months they are not good for eating and I don’t like butchering as I’m not set up for it. We breasted and legged them like we would game birds. It was my idea to have Cornish and broilers one year. My hubs had an unexpected surgery and I had to do the dispatching and everything myself. 30 birds were too much for me to do alone. I did it but I decided not to do it again. We have a very busy home construction business too. I still have layers and grow a huge garden.
1967. I’ve heard that my maternal grandfather, a farmer, was excited to hear the news that twin grandsons had been born. My siblings and I have inherited the farm, and I try to visit as often as I can.
My husband and I love watching your beautiful family. We were born in 48 and 49 and our truck is a 1999. Still running good after we had a little work done on it the first part of this year. We do homesteading down here in south Alabama. God bless y’all. Y’all are doing a great job. ❤
I had to laugh when you used a screwdriver to open the door. I have a 95 Mitsubishi truck that I use a screwdriver to open the door just like you did. I moved from southern Indiana to northwestern Montana. Love that little truck. I am looking a 70
Im a December 68 baby.. we have red stars and those island reds that we got from McMurray hatchery. Oh we also got a rooster with our girls. We haven’t lost one! I was not expecting that.. you and your family are an inspiration to many people.
My car is a 2006 but starts every time. Birth year 1949. Grew upon the farm. Didn’t mind chickens but hated cleaning the coop. In Minnesota a chicken tractor would only work in summer, winters are very harsh

I only garden right now, hope to have chickens one day 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ we’ll see. Love your videos and all the animals ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I was born in 1957! I love your family. Thank you foŕ sharing with all of us.❤
With poor soil (clay and sand) and extremely high rodent pressure (they even ate my tomato and potato plants!), it's hard to garden here in the high desert of northern NM. But I do raise chickens for eggs. I have Rhode Island reds, barred rocks, Easter Eggers, black australorpes, and buff orpington hens, as well as a very nice (aka NOT MEAN!!!) buff orp x golden comet rooster named Jerry. After dealing with super aggressive RIR roo (PoppyCock) and an even more aggressive white Leghorn roo (Little Roo), I Adore Jerry!!!!
Side note:
I don't like white Leghorns at all. Besides Little Roo's aggression, the pullets were far too nervous and flighty for me. I like a more Zen chicken yard.
Much Love and Blessings All~Ways 🙏❤🙏
