Garlic fermented in honey! I would never have imagined that combination. Those plaited garlic look rather attractive as well as being practical, very good.
I have ben growing garlic for 25 years, I never let the scapes get to big always cut them off when they have grown about 6 inches above the last set of green leaves, this way all the energy of the still growing plant is focused on the bulbs, the scapes are always tender and delicious to eat, if you let them grow for to long they can become tough and a little bitter, but when cut young they are delicious in stir fries or salads, I am in Australia so your season is the opposite to ours, but garlic is garlic where ever it is grown, in my opinion one of the most fascinating alliums to grow.
@@zedacruja681 no you just cut the flower stalk or scape as it is called off, the plant is concentrating all of its energy into growing the flower or scape as it is called, the plant then sends all of its energy to the garlic bulb so you end up with a bigger bulb.
Just picked up some hard neck Isle of White garlic at the garden centre yesterday, so this video couldn’t have come at a better time! 🤗🙌 Thank you for all the info!
Thank you for at super video. I also grow a lot of garlic here in Denmark and now is the perfect time of the year to plant the cloves if you want them to get as big as possible. I tried to grow them in my poly tunnel with great success as well. Have you ever tried to grow "Elephant garlic"? If not, then you should try. All the best to you both.
I actually managed to grow decent sized garlic last year, and kept enough to grow again this year. Other times, failures. I noticed the flavours are much nicer home grown than I got from the store. Looking forward to seeing the garlic shoot up and grow. Roasted garlic is a favourite thing in my family.
Congratulations on your Garlic harvest ! You also seem to have nice Olive oil! Hope everything will go well for both of you, in the future. Mybe you're heard of oversized vegetables from Entroncamento? It's curiosity of Nature, near you. Take care , stay warm and dry.
@@NearbyVeggies well, nothing better than you own Olive Oil! My family does take care of their own Olive trees. I miss that taste, Industrial 'Olive Oil' can't compete! Take care and thank you for answering! Have a great time!
A great Garlick episode. I'm planning on planting mine these next few days. I have to cover with mesh though as Allium Leaf Miner has made its way to my area over the last few years. Do you have this insect over there with you?
Thanks for the garlic recipe anything involving garlic and potatoes is most welcome to a vegan.
Hope you enjoy 😊

I'm amazed how do you use about 4 heads of garlic per week! I dont use that in a month, and I like garlic! hehehe
We wanted to be sure we had enough but we do use a lot. We share it too and swap for plants and eggs. 😉
Really enjoyed this vídeo! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Can’t wait to try it all out!
Have fun. 😊
Good video! I think I better go revisit the garlic I planted! Thanks for the info!
Why?
I didn't break them apart when I planted! But the ground is frozen solid now! So I went and got another clove and planted them my big Tera Cota pots!
You’ll get a full bulb from each clove. 🤗
I enjoyed that😊
Yay! Thank you 😊
Gostei. Plantei alho no meu pequeno quintal e não sabia quando colher. Amei as dicas.
Obrigada 🤩
Hi, I'm also planning to come to Portugal.buy a small house for myself and start living happy Life. ❤
Best wishes for your plans 😊
Bom dia.
This is lovely, thank you!!!
You are so welcome. Thank you 😊
Interesting video as we do not grow garlic in our climate. We do use alot of garlic (imported) , in our cooking 👍
May I ask what part of the world you’re in?

You make it all look so easy. What kind of boots were those you had on?
The boots are Dubarry, an Irish brand but they are actually my old sailing boots not meant for gardening. 😂

Is your horta completely enclosed to ensure you don't have any wild boar?
No it isn’t fully enclosed and there are wild boars.
