#DunePartTwo #Dune2 - Кино
Damn! This one clip shows me they got Irulan’s character down PERFECTLY! She’s mousy, intuitive, but also well trained in Bene Gesserit art, and not so easily deceived. Not only that, she is highly suggestive and manipulative. Wait until we get to Dune Messiah and her manipulative nature comes in full view.
Will that make for a greater film and would it have a lot of action?
@@AlkalineInsides Why does a film have to have action in order to be dramatic and successful?
@@AlkalineInsidesGo watch marvel movies if u crave action so badly
@@nateborie6329 why be pretentious about it? People like action. A key component as to why part 2 is better received than the first part. - a question was asked, it’s not that deep.
@@AlkalineInsides Well, I just happen to notice there's an unnecessary amount of desire for violence and action in film, and somehow, that's an expectation to help make it better. Some of the best shows and movies in the world have almost no action or violence. If you've read the Dune books, you'll know that almost no violence exists in the series. It's more focused on drama and politics and metaphysical concepts rather than have everything blow up and people dying.
Irulan just minipulated the reverend mother to admiting a truth. Impressive, most impressive.
Yes, but it also captures perfectly the authority of the reverend mother and the loyalty the Bene Gesserit demands from its members.
She didn't manipulate her, the Rev mother willing told her the truth because of their relationship dynamic
Once again you don't know dune. The benadryls we do not lie to each other because they cannot lie to each other because each one who was born is born of the same memory as the other one 12 the fake Dune lovers who keeps saying this movie is so great it's not

Every scene with the Reverend Mother in movie 1 was my fav. Her voice, her outfit. So badass. Glad to see more of her!!
It isn't the same in part 2 - the whole film is a contradictory, scene to scene jumping, final cgi war battle stretched for 3 hours.
In the books, Rev Mother Helen Bohem was Jessica's mother,
Paul's grandmother, the Baron was Paul's grandfather, making Feid Ratha Paul's cousin.

@@MLTAKOS ignore him, he's drunk....
0:23 Sounds like she lost her temper and almost used the voice on Irulan
considering they are supposed to be in supreme control of their emotions, she absolutely lost her temper. love this little detail
Good call it sounded exactly like the tone she would use before going into the voice in part one!
Yeah my mother do this too!
I thought I caught that in the sound mix too! Great little detail.
@@Mwinslow1467 calling things that are out of character as "lovely detail" lol
0:12 I love the angle, Irulan looking back as she walks. She's curious, inquisitive, straightforward and calculating. They got all that in such a short scene.
Charlotte Rampling is one of the greats. Every scene she is in is mesmerizing. Great casting her as the Reverend Mother Mohaim.
Ever see her as the ice-cold Noelite High Priestess in Babylon AD? I watched the film just for that performance alone.
Zardoz 😮
Dude she played an old, stern, emotionless woman in a veil....I'm sure Rampling is a good actor but imo this role was not particularly challenging....your gramma may have literally been able to play Mohiam convincingly, esp. wearing a veil most of the time
@@koko40800 yes she played an old woman in a veil, and as a bene gesserit who holds control over her emotions and who plans dynasty’s, that was the assignment. Sorry you can’t understand the lore of the book and the purpose behind the performance. She played it to great effect.
@@koko40800 There's quite a lot of nuance to her voice and expressions throughout both films that are actually pretty difficult to nail. Sure it would be easy to do a passable job as this character but Rampling didn't do a passable job did a great job.
This movie was so intense and atmospheric. The different color schemes it felt like you were in a different world.
The music does that. There were a couple of video games that gave you that sense of being there. Dungeon Siege and the Space Comabt game called Home World.
I found it odd that Paul was more mad at the Emperor than the reverend mother for his father's death. You'd think he would know it was all manipulation from the Bene Gesserit.
But, the emperor made the move by himself. The Bene Gesserit just keep going with his ideas
he is clever enough to choose to not obey, futhermore he said to Paul why he killed his father, because he was good and not strong enough, is this a reason to exterminate a bloodline?
@@randomix4023considering the Emperors goal WAS to exterminate the entire Atreides bloodline, yes. Yes it would make sense that Paul would return the gesture in kind.
The Bene Gesserit control nothing, they can only influence. At the end of the day, they cannot change an outcome if someone plants their feet and makes a choice... that was the ENTIRE reason they spent 90 generations to create a Kwisatz Haderach. In fact, the Emperor's attack against the Duke worked against the Bene Gesserit's agenda, because it put a noble House's bloodline at risk.
Not saying the BG can't manipulate, but there's only so much they can do.
As I recall this a movie thing, in the books emperor is not manipulated but just a greedy man who does not like atreides popularity rising. It does not make sense to me for Bene Gesserit to destroy the bloodline that they have spent centuries breeding when they are so close to their goal of kwisatz haderach
Irulan reversed ("naluri") means "instinct" in Indonesia (The Spice Islands, also origin of the "kris" knife)
And an anagram for Urinal. She has a sister named Anirul. (Really. Does this reveal anything about Frank Herbert?)
Plus (write word here) means (write profound phrase) in (choose language).

the parallels have their limits. After all, the inhabitants of that part of the world weren't exactly desert nomads.
I like how Kaitain is potraied as a peaceful and modest little Zen-garden when it is the choosen homeworld of the emperor and his family
Exactly !
That is my only critique regarding the visual esthetics of this movie. The Corrino Imperial family should be all about pomp and cicumstance... their clothing should look regal and even over the top. They dress to impress, never modestly.
@@ValectoWhy would they when they are at home. Who is there to impress.
Of the worlds we have seen in this universe, 2 are hellholes that have warped their inhabitants into almost inhuman monsters. One is home to a peaceful yet highly militarised culture. The last is Arrakis.
The fact that all we see of Kaitain is casually dressed people chilling in immaculately tended gardens immediately tells us that the Emperor's power and wealth has completely insulated him above the concerns of even the other noble houses.
And yet there are hardly any words exchanged in those gardens - almost all of the dialogue is Irulan's internal monologue. This tells us that she's thinking dangerous things, and it's not safe to speak them aloud. Whenever there is an important conversation it happens in a hallways or a small chamber. The walls are for the most part unadorned grey stone, yet open to the beautific scenes outside. The camera blocking emphasises the narrowness of the rooms, and the characters are often moving through them as the conversation proceeds.
They're situated at the peak of Imperial prestige and luxury, and yet they are trapped by the system, only able to manouver within its narrow confines.
There’s a totally different aesthetic for the imperial court from when we first see them in Part One. I liked the black and white robes with the “Daft Punk” helmets they all wear.
@straightbarns the ones with the white robes and helmets in movie 1 were the spacing guild, the ones in black would have been the court. But those are 2 diff situations, that one is an official envoy mission to a ducal world and here it's just at the Emperors home
The ones with the golden white robes were the Guild representatives since it was evident they were huffing that spice gas in those helmets but the white and black robed characters with the headgear that looked like Daft Punk helmets were established as the imperial court so they had set up the look and style of them and they looked awesome. The imperial court seen in Part Two might be explained as being part of the Corrino imperial family since they all seemed to share a similar look but I prefer the way they were introduced originally.

Actually there was a careful balance between the Bene Gesserit, the Spacing Guild and the Emperor. Which was completely ignored in the movie.
@@hblancheunreasonable to say they ignored it. impossible to fit every detail from the books into a movie so they subtly adjusted and emphasised certain elements to adapt from book to screen. Aww, I love Florence Pugh, beautiful woman.
I wasn't sure about Florence as the princess before but she nailed the role and even gave the character more than what I can remember in the books.
Carlo Scarpa tomba Brion Vega?!?!
Irulan is my favorite woman, she adds perfection to every game she plays.
The BG must have known that Paul was alive. The emergence of Missionaria Protectiva’s faith should have been a tell.
Florence Pugh did an amazing job as Irulan! She captured the mousy, well rehearsed scholarly sensible side and balanced with the manipulative bittersweet haughty aristocratic side that's not easily deceived by the simplest of messages. And unlike a certain director, Denis gave Irulan great character development and allowed the audiences time to sympathize for Irulan for whatever eventually happens to her. My only suggestion is that we see Irulan wearing golden gowns in the next film.
She is a good actress who doesn't just rely on her good looks. The dynamic between her father and her was what humanized them both for me-- a love and respect between daughter and father. She is a daddy's girl raised to be strong minded and influential, despite all that had been stacked against her in this world.
@@heygirl5565 You just friggin' nailed it! The scene with her and Christopher Walken were really chilling to watch, twice if you read the books.

Florence Pugh and Charlotte Rampling were two examples of perfect casting; they DEVOURED the roles of Princess Irulan and Reverend Mother Mohiam.
I prefer the costume design in Lynch’s version
I was waiting for the opulence of House Corrino, y'know. The emperor on his golden throne, and Irulan draped in beautiful extravagant fabric. But DV totally inverted that in the costume design.
Yes. Thank you. I agree. Making them look sort of Elizabethan just highlighted the court politics and assassins style of court intrigue. Like a chess game. The bene gesserit had that look and it was so apt.

Why would they have Pugh in an American accent
I thought so too. having the princess with a British accent would’ve been more befitting. I think her Hollywood image is more aligned with her fake American accent though
@techboy2002 One hundred percent. I actually have a hard time buying her American accent . It just sounds... off. But her natural English accent is butter!
The Emperor has an American accent too, why would she be different?
I’m glad she’s using an American accent. Dune was written by Frank Herbert, an American. Too often the default is a British type of accent in fantasy, sci fi, and movies about the Roman Empire.
Not every depiction of royals has to have a british accent. Herbert was American and Dune is a sci-fi epic, not high fantasy.
Tomba Brion / Carlo Scarpa ad Altivole 😍😍😍
I was waiting for the continuation of this movie
Man I hate the part Paul's plan to overthrow the Emperor is to first is asking to marry his daughter, Princess Irulan so that the Corrino bloodline will still be in power 🤬
Marrying the daughter keeps the Imperial loyalists from having an obvious reason to rebel. Better to deal with one group of rebels at a time, than a bunch of rebel groups all at once. He may have the Spacing Guild's loyalty via blackmail ("Obey me or you get no spice"), but he still has to conquer the worlds. Getting the Imperial loyalists on his side means he can point them at some of the other rebel groups, letting his enemies weaken each other for him.
Because it served a political purpose. Besides the Corrino bloodline doesn't have power, Paul and later his son Leto the second "The God emperor" have ALL the power.
I know still don’t like it
In the books, Irulan will have no children, as Paul will keep Chani as concubine and exclusively mate with her (Chani). But it seems like the movie will change that, as Chani is running away at the end of Part 2.
@@faldovifendi6878 I highly doubt they change Chani being the mother of Pauls children. Doing so would essential change all books. And even the core conspiracy in Dune messiah only makes Sense if Paul denies Irrulan / house Corrino any children.

I hate how the movie makes everything so obvious. In the books, everything they say has a double or hidden meaning. It’s what makes it so fun to read. It kind of takes the fun out of it when things have to be dumbed down.
