In this video, I am taking the new DJI Mini 2 out for my first flight and offer some of my first opinions of the drone. This is not a full review video, that will come once I have had more time testing it and flying it. This drone is pretty incredible for the size and price, during my first flight I could really see the performance boost as it handled the wind much better, and what can I say about Ocusync 2.0, it's amazing. The 4K video with a higher bitrate is pretty good, sharp with a lot of detail.

As someone completely new to the drone world (no purchase yet) I really appreciate that you do not overload us with too much information all at once. Kudos
Thank you, I also uploaded a beginners guide which goes over a lot of different details for new pilots
@@AirPhotography Thank you for doing all that, you have been a big help (mini 2 owner cuz of your videos)
Agree, going to watch all of his videos about the Mini 2
Great Videos on the DJI Mini 2. I have been researching buying a first drone for a first go around. Your videos have shown excellent information/tutorials on how they work/operate/features/differences in models, etc. Thank you.
I was looking to purchase the DJI mini 2 and I'm so happy I came across your videos. I'm definitely going to get one after watching what this beast can do. Thank you for what you do.
Thanks for doing these reviews. They are really helpful. 👍🙂
Watching all your videos, I’m new to all this, just received my Mini SE and can’t wait to learn !
That scenery is EVERYTHING ❤️😱
Great Video. I like the Real time genuine first impressions. Good job.
Thanks for the information on this Drone
I have been thinking about getting one
Great video! This is really helpful for someone like me who has never used a drone but really fancy getting their first one (I’m a photographer) thinking I might go for this when I have a little money, cheers
Yeah this is unreal. I remember when the Mavic 2 Pro seemed like the perfect drone. It’s close, but the size of this for travel is just amazing. the quality is amazing. Everyone always talking about the 1 inch sensor on the Pro. But my eyes can’t tell. I’m not pro so this is a no=-brainer! I was waiting for Ocusync. Thank you for the video.
Nice videos thank you very in-depth
great work. thanks for sharing
Two words.. Thank You! Drone was delivered last night and excited for my first flight. Wanted to do some research before I take off, stumbled across your videos and now a lil more comfortable and excited to get out there own my own.
How did it go?
So, how do you like your new mini 2
Great video thanks, amazing little drone
Great video as always! :)
Beautiful area as well…that neighborhood looked pretty damn fine! Surrounded by lovely nature. Worth so much!
These drones are just amazing I watch my drone videos on my new 4K 48 inch TV and it's unbelievable, it's the only true 4K you can watch practically
I was waiting for you to make this video. What a wonderful place you have to test your new toys. Beautiful! Just wish you would have swapped the screens!
Nice video! Very beautiful scenery!!
Great review video - nice cinematic work. Keep up the great work! Thanks - can the mini work with the DJI racing goggles & smart controller?
Another good video Shaun
What a nice shots and lovely color of the trees 🌳.
Great video thank you
Nice video, thx for sharing!
Cant wait to get mine!
Another Excellent Presentation, Clear, Concise & Coherent throughout, very professional.
Thank you very much
Just charged up my Mini II for my first flight Ever… I bought the Mini II because I’m a first time drone pilot trainee and it seem to be a decent entry level aircraft….I have a few ground RCs and have been in the hobby a few years but I never flew anything..,lol glad I found your channel…. I’m looking forward to your series on the mini II I have a lot to learn … thanks for sharing……☮️~~~out!!
Thank you
I love the season ❤❤❤
super drone took mine out today for 2nd time and it gets better got connected to 18 sats yesterday and today 21 happy days
This guy is very good at reviews, takes things very slowly which is spot on 👌👌👌👌👌
I really enjoyed this buddy! I love this flying videos.... Sean I agree that this guy does just like the bigger drones. I just flew mine around the top of a sky scraper 😱😱😱 how's that for some resistance. Of course the camera almost popped off...😱😱👋👋lol lol. No kidding though. It's a fine deal and your right.. it's a lot of drone for the money. hey when the drones in the air you really don't know what it looks like it's in the air nobody could see it so all that matters is performance the pictures and the video.. it does all them almost perfect! I'm looking forward to some updates.. 🤟🤟 thx for sharing buddy..
Mikey
Good video as usual. I had 24 satellites yesterday. The Mini 2 is my first real drone. Guess I'm going to be spoiled! I felt quite confident after a couple minutes in the air on my first flight. Have flown it twice now and it is amazing!
Yes it is a great little drone
I love it!
I am relatively new to this channel but I’ve seen a handful of your videos and I got thrown for a loop when you said London, Ontario! Lol! That’s where I live.
Im from London, ON too! Just picked up a mini 2 from Visions today. Hoping the rain dies down to take it out for the first time.
I just open my mini 2 waiting sunrise to go out and test, first flight and first better drone, if you can bring any video that help how to fly Mavic mini for new comers any safety features , thats really helps, great work and appreciate
It just amazes me what you get from dji for your bucks. I'm sold.
Hello..I just bought a dji mini 2 ..but can't activate i yet due to my crappy A01 Samsung phone wont support it. But I just thought maybe better to get a tablet. I saw a couple peeps posted in another video they used a Lenovo 10.3 tablet with good results..just curious what you might be using..thanks
I hope I will be able to have it in the future
The Mini 2 is my *second* drone; I bought the much cheaper Holystone HS510 first just in case the learning curve proved to be steeper than expected, and that proved to be a prescient decision because I did indeed crash the HS510 several times on the first few flights, and even managed to lose visual contact with it twice while zipping around a large vacant field. I also learned that relying on WiFi for the camera means you really only have about a 100m / 300' range if you want to actually monitor what is being recorded and that a motorized gimbal is a necessity, not a luxury, as it is needed to cancel out almost all of the disturbances from wind gusts and maneuvering. Still, I don't regret the purchase of the HS510 at all because if any of the crashes had rendered it lost or beyond repair I would've only been out $160, rather than $500. Also, I managed to sell it to someone else just getting started with drones for a modest discount so I consider it a win-win for all involved. That said, the Mini 2 is definitely worth the extra money, and I now know this from experience, rather than conjecture or assumption.
It's been 72-75 degrees every day this week in Northern Michigan. And I gotta work all of it.
I still think the mavic air too is probably the definitive drone for most people, but however I definitely wouldn't argue if I had this. there is an amazing amount of features and technology packed into something that you don't need to register with the FAA. This however might change the FAA rules. It's a toy drone weight class but certainly not a toy drone anymore.
Like I said, right on point with no superfluous time consumption. Be well stay airborne.
Awesome
New subscriber but I enjoy your videos. Very helpful.
Thank you very much I’m glad you enjoyed them
Hidden in the specs- The Mini 2 supports the Galileo satellite system in addition to GPS and GLONASS from before. That's why more satellites sensed. By the way, I'm wondering how this will affect the precision of the non-precision Mini series auto-landings... (The Mavic Air 2 etc are so amazing as you know, once you let them get a reading around 7m altitude.)
Thank you for all your drone and GoPro videos. You were my first subscription on these topics!
Wow this little drone is very stable I'm gonna buy this thing
I ordered mine today.
Use the Yagi-uda antenna to help with that signal loss in that particular area.
Wet and gross is what I'm experiencing right now. You're probably get more signals because of increased climate watch (I'm guessing). Nice equipment and great footage. Cheers!
I'd had this drone for about a year and a half before finally flying it. I was THAT nervous about actually flying it, mainly since I live near an airport. lol. This drone is pretty simple, though.
I hate that I never flew it as high as you did in this video.
Just heard you mention that you are in London. I am as well, in northern London, near Masonville. Hope to be getting my first drone soon. The 2 and watched your unpacking video and now this too
Nice flying drones is a lot of fun and a lot of great places in London to fly
Hey there! The 21 satellites your getting is because the Mini 2 has added the Galileo satellite network to the satellites it can connect to. The DJI Mavic Mini (and I suspect other DJI models) are GPS + GLONASS only
Update my hero5 black or get Mini 2 !!! Looks a brilliant little drone for taking on holiday without worrying about customs.
Wow ❤️❤️👍
Such an amazing technology. Very attractive. How do you feel about the actual camera footage? Does it seem a bit mushy? -H
Awesome. I don‘t know if aircrafts are using gps satelites or not but if then there are much less aircrafts in the air these days.
Are you able to get RAW files from the pano photos? The individual files and/or the stitched photo?
Hello from tropical Costa Rica! Great video man, I'm getting my mini 2 for my biology work here in the jungle. i come to London often to visit my two cousins that work at Western University, Ontario.
I just got the Mini 2 as well and will be using it when I travel to Costa Rica next year too!
Also, can anybody tell me how you can move the camera of the drone without moving the drone itself? I haven't been able to figure that out yet, but I've only test drove it once so far.
Living the dream man!
@@chelseyschartz7673 roll the wheel under your left finger for up and down, can't turn it side to side
Grettings from Big London! 🍻
Nice
Hi thank you so much for all the videos firstly. My new mini 2 does not activate drone when both toggles are moved to down position like you have shown. I have to activate the screen up icon . Have they removed that feature
I’ve had a Mavic2 pro for a couple years now. It always struggles with proper focus so I rarely get its full resolution capabilities. I just purchased the mini 2 and am really impressed with its video quality and flight stability. I never use all of the bells and whistles of the Mavic2 pro, but I like the sensors on it. If a mini 3 comes out with multiple sensors and it’s sub 250 grams, I’ll be selling my Mavic2 pro.
Did you sell your 2 pro? 👀
No return home option available ? Can I avoid obstacles? . Going to buy now !
Considering strongly to buy this drone with the FlyMore Combo.
It has gps, glonas and beidou modules built in, that's why you can receive so many satellites.
I miss a feature like course lock! Boomerang, rocket and so on are not filmers thing
Buna,un mare like!
Now that you’ve flown the mini 2, is there a big difference in flying experience between the air 2 and mini 2, is it worth double the price, does it give you a lot of joy 🤩
I have owned both but not at the same time. I had the first mini and moved to the Mavic air after a year. I do believe you get more for your buck and the Mini is great for starters especially running at 4K. Tbh with you the mini is fun to fly it’s small, very nimble and doesn’t attract a lot of attention. Overall go with the mavic air 2. You have more security of flying again as it has obstacle avoidance, takes on wind better and not to mention that it has good camera quality!
Thank you. I just picked one up Mini 2. Where can I get a landing pad like that ?
Hi I just bought th mini , your video really helped me set it up.
One question , I have a Google pixel and when I'm on drone app I can't get to my quick setting in fly mode . The red button always has a square in it and every time I click on it , it takes a pic with no menu options .
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thank you 😊
Does this drone have fixed infinity focus or do you need to tap to focus like the older mavic pro?
Nice...were is that so beautiful place??
Hi Shawn,
I sent you a Message on Twitter.
Can you please recommend if dji om4 will be compatible with gopro hero 8?
Do we need any adapter or can hero8 be used with dji om4 without any additional adapters?
Amazing! Hey, question... What are you using for Mic setup? Sounds great 👍
I’m wondering the same thing 🤔
What was the red symbol going in and out at the bottom of your screen .
Do you think the bad ass TRIPLTEK tablet 1200 nits will work with the Mini 2?
Wah Soo much the height.
Thank you, I would like to know if this is a good way to start, as I would like to pilot one day agricultural oriented ones like the agrast t20 (that needs phantom\inspire flown earlier, if I got it right, to work with a plan), archeological imagery ones, and sport camera as well as drone racing drones.
I wanted to know if this is a good idea to start, I live in a valley that can have strong winds, and has also hunters in winters, and also has no High voltage lines. There is a radio amateur in the valley with a big antenna on his house, so maybe this could disturb the drone?
I have many questions...
would love to play FPV but from what I understood it's still a very undeveloped tech for drones, not only dji but also parrot does not offer good experience and it's kind of illegal in many countries (but if I fly in my fields (several HA big) there should be no problems.
What is the best for FPV drone VR flight to have fun... I understnad that one needs to go in cool places to enjoy the beauty... but if u fly in your terrain should be no problem either... is parrot anafi really bad?
Hi Boph, to quickly answer your question, yes this drone is a excellent way to get into drones. DJI is one of the best consumer drone manufacturers in the world right now. I personally started with their Phantom 4, had a Mavic Air and now just purchased the Mini 2. The Mini 2 has many great features (really all DJI drones do) that help you start flying immediately. DJI drones are super stable when setup correctly. You just need to follow any prompts like calibration to do this and wait for the controller to pick up GPS signals from the appropriate numbner of satellites.
Once you get the green light you simply press the Take Off button on your phone and off you go. Taking pictures and video is a breeze with the controller via dedicated buttons. The gimbals from DJI are rock steady and provide cinematic like smooth videos and clear photos. The flight time on the Mini 2 is superior to the Mav ic Air with over 30 mins of rated time. If you get the Fly More bundle, which I recommend, you can get 90 mins of flight time. That should be more than enough to grab the footage you are looking for. Furthurmore if you live in the US you do not have to register the drone because it skirts the weight requirement. Honestly a drone this light hardly poses a serious injury or damage risk to anything, so that is a good thing too. This drone also uses a more stable link to the drone unlike the Mavic Air (wifi) which uses Occusync. The Mavic Air had a horrible controller that was wonky to work with. There was always a fear of dropping your phone and it wouldn't work well with cases and the connector was difficult. The Mini 2 uses a top phont mounting bracket that is fool proof and secure.
In terms of using this drone for FPV, you should really look elsewhere. There is a headset DJI sells, but I am not sure about compatibility. Plus when you start getting into FPV flights, you are dipping more into the racing drone category. Perhaps you should research those type of drones. The Mini 2 is more for photography. DJI drones are easy and fun to fly. Never mistake them for those cheap $200 range drones are are hard to control. Hope this helps!
One last tidbit for drone pilots in the US. FAA DroneZone is a great app for requesting waivers to make sure you are flying in legal limits. I was planning on doing some flying in a restricted area and requested a waiver through the app. The approval was near instataneous.
Whats the red signal on the bottom of your phone??
I’ve been flying mine all day! Was pushing 4,000 ft with no lag
Not sure what country your in, but atleast in America you can't legally go above 400ft.....
@@imstuartlittle3227 4000 ft away not high
@@drewgeyerr ahh ok
Your getting that red thing too at the bottom of your screen. I got that today. Something about gps.. ?
It's a shame they didn't add the Follow Me/Focus Track feature to this otherwise this would've been awesome. 😕
I believe this is by far the best drone you can get for the money these days but I still can´t wait to buy the AIR 2 as well.
Yes indeed it is a fantastic little drone for the price
@@AirPhotography Imagined our chaplain with a drone for a sec :D
Just bought this arrives tomorrow no flying experience going to take it steady how easy is it to lose this? I was of the understanding this I'll just come home in these kind of circumstances am I wrong. Could you land this somewhere away from you say a building and then take of again? I have so many questions.
Oh and can you use litchi with this?
What can you do to keep people calling your phone from interrupting the DJI Fly app? Also good idea to tighten screws on propellars to avoid losing them and crashing drone.
Will airplane mode help with that?
The Wind Warning is still annoying and that's why I stick with the Mavic Air 2 :) and maybe I'll get the Mavic Pro 3 when it comes out. Thanks for sharing your flight video! :)
Mavic air 2 only fit for the bin when new rules come out, Mavic mini 2 the way to go.
I noticed that when you press the return to home button on the controller it won’t return home it does only if I press the return to home on the phone surface screen idea?
i got a dji min 2, and sometimes hear auxiliary helicopters go low, what is the lower the helicopter can fly low, any suggetion set my drone to under 300feet to be careful, and fly low to tree thanks
HELP! HELP!
Hi! Is there any way to set a low-altitude limit or warning on the Mavic mini? I don't want to crash it on the bay water, the only open space I have to fly in Miami Beach FL where I live?
hi tell me which is better to buy you dji mini 2 or gopro karma + gopro 6
Shout out to Reservoir Park :)
What is the red sign blinking on the bottom of the screen?
Wow it sounds so quiet.
Mini 2 vs air 2?
I am sold I’m buying the DJI Mavic mini to
So manual return to home due to strong wind lol
So dose that mean in an emergency its not going to be able to auto return home?? Its self due to wind
This still have the 249 gram weight for not having to register it?
What is the song called ??
So I recently just got the Mavic Air 2 as a gift to myself and got the mini 2 as a gift from family, Are there any benefits to having both drones or would you say that for an average consumer one is enough? Or does the Mini 2 have enough benefits to justify having both?
It’s hard to say it’s all kind of personal preference. I would have to say probably for the most part one is all you really need. Myself I enjoy flying different ones. If you’re gonna keep one and get rid of one I would stay with the air 2.
I wanted this but not buying without obstacle avoidance.
