- Magical Scientist OTK/FTK
This OTK involves summoning "Magical Scientist" and "Catapult Turtle" in one turn. In order to pull off the OTK, you Special Summon "Gilasaurus" from your hand. Then you activate "Last Will". You should then Tribute "Gilasaurus" to Tribute Summon "Catapult Turtle" and then use "Last Will's" effect to Special Summon "Magical Scientist".
Next you would use Magical Scientist's effect seven times. You Tribute all 7 Fusion Monsters with 2200ish ATK, dealing about 7500 in life point Damage. You then Tribute "Magical Scientist" and "Catapult Turtle", dealing the remaining amount of damaged needed to win.

There was also a nasty combo you could do with Catapult Turtle where you launch Gaia the Dragon Champion into Castle of Dark Illusions to shatter its floatation ring to destroy your opponent's monsters while they're trapped under Swords of Revealing Light.
Ask Yugi, he might have a decklist for that.

People are confused as to why Magical Scientist is banned? You can pay 2000 life for the Rank 6 XYZ monster of your choice, and you can keep doing that as often as you want.
You must read magical scientist's effect. It can only special summon a level 6 or lower fusion monster from the extra deck.
Zigfried Ma If you activate the effect twice then you pay 2000 LP (1000 per) to summon two level 6 fusion monsters. You could then overlay those monsters for a Rank 6 XYZ monster.
Zigfried Ma you must lack the ability to think critically.
I remember making a magical scientist FTK deck when i was younger. Its been like 13 years sonce ive seen this deck.. Miss it lol. I got kicked from a tournament before the card was banned
Ryu Senshi, Fiend Skull Dragon & Dark Balter The Terrible were the monsters you summoned with Magical Scientist, those three fusion monsters together protect you from spells, traps and monster effects, after they safely attack, if your opponent is still standing you can finish him off by tributing those 3 to inflict 3200. But if you go first you will have to do it like this videos says, great video by the way, really like this OTK's of the past series.
It needs to stay banned not for the OTK but more so for the easy xyz spams this card can give the player.

Back when I played this game maybe 10 or so years this was the first deck I ever played against at a tournament in between rounds. I played this guy who was using this deck and we both put up cards for the winner and boy was I surprised lol.

With the errata now on catapult turtle where you can only tribute one monster per turn instead of tributing any monster you want the magical scientist could come back although it's effect is extremely powerful makes things easier to get to xyz monsters and everything it will most likely stay forbidden just saying there might be a slight chance for it to come back. If it was in the old game of Yu-Gi-Oh it would have a greater chance of it coming back but not that likely in modern Yu-Gi-Oh for reasons.
Been playing for a while and never did i come across that combo from the start. Having watched this video surprised that that combo made it big, and just feels like a vague memory of the past.
imo i'm just feeling that just a lil change of wording (if possible, & as they did with skull lair) on catapult turtle or magical Scientist to "once per turn" will change things alot, like bringing him off the banlist and even the spell Last Will, since the game wasn't too advanced in those days the effects were simple but broken... that's one thing i'm seeing though
I think the best answer to this back in the day was to go first and play Tremendous Fire (or set Torrential Tribute but that doesn't count)

i loved magical scientist back when sorcerer of dark magic came out in the movie pack. pay for two sandwich and boom big beatstick that can negate trap, also played them in a horus deck. but well back then those combos could have been pulled off... now not so much.
i used to run a mind master synchro deck it became amazing with cleric but alas, i ran the scientist deck too at one point.
Hey um, with the new effect coming out for catapult turtle, allowing it to use only once per turn, do you know of a good replacement, or maybe a different deck I can use with magical scientist?

I made an ftk deck with this back in the day it worked most of the time.
I didn't say that I would use the monarchs to do the burn damage. You 're going to use last will and catapult turle. Summoning the treeborn frog from the graveyard. Then you just tribute the treeborn and use last will.You get out your magical scientist and start all the crazy stuff.I just thought that it would be nice using treeborn since he revived back again.It's better than gilasaurus since you don't actually need it in hand.Then you could use the frog engine to get treeborn to grave faster.
not familiar with the new cards, stopped with 5D's, but those tactics and especially the scientist bring back some memories ;)
He's a spellcaster. Prophecy exists, therefore he's searchable and gets all of the added power and protection that they would give him. He's also a free (in terms of advantage) Rank 1-6 machine. I don't think we'd want that in the game.
I just thought that monarchs could be a nice distraction since you won't always open the OTK hand. But of course monarchs aren't necessary. It also gives other plays than just the OTK. You could use LADD aswell for some distraction.
if you have a soul charge so you could summon norden 2 times then with scientist costing 2000 but dealing 3400 then tribute scientist dealing 500 more damage total 3900 for 2000 now play soul charge bring back both norden and summon gilasaurus and scientist off of the norden's effect tribute both norden again dealing 2000 more 5900 for 4000 so far tribute gilasaurus 6600 for 4000 now summon your last norden from the extra deck summon gilasaurus back on last time so you can deal 8300 for 5000 now catapult turtle tributes itself and scientist for game (assuming you used an upstart goblin at some point in this game or your opponent gained lp at some point and even need to deal 9000 damage)

Catapult Turtle was re-printed to only allow someone to launch a monster once per turn. Unless there is another way to do what Catapult Turtle does, the OTK is no longer an option.
if it doesn't say "once per turn" or anything like that, use it as much as you can.

Just a little side note last will was broken before they rewrote the text in the 2nd yugi deck

I think, if you draw into it immediately, it would be just as powerful as it was before. But now that there are so many cards that can negate effects and destroy monsters that attempt to activate them, if your opponent has any time whatsoever to establish themselves, it probably wouldn't go over smoothly.
And this is why Turtle got a errata for a reason.
Use it twice in one turn, you CAN do that. Use Magical Scientist, Summon a level 6, activate again, summon a level 6, overlay into a rank 6, activate twice more, overlay into Volca if possible, activate three times more into Digvorzhak, and kill them....
Easy summon with Mother Grizzly (Catapult Turtle) then play book of noon or elcipse to lay face down.

Effect Veiler and Fiendish Chain didn't exist when this OTK was still a common thing.

Ok and then second question...is the reason spell or trap cards cannot be activated to this otk is because priority was a thing when this combo was prominence, so basically the player that laid the combo down, would take priority as chain link 1, and the effect of scientist would just resolve into turtle and continue before ever allowing ur opponent to activate chain link 2? I think rageki was banned at the time, but in response to the either scientist summoning, or first activation of turtles effect couldn't u just chain rageki and blow the board?

Difference is, with Last Will banned, he can't do as much. I remember that OTK though, didn't happen often as it was so unreliable. If that was the only reason magical Scientist was banned, I'd say un-ban him now, but I'm well aware how OP that card is, so we definitely don't want him back (no offence, Mr. Magical Scientist sir :P)
mmmm i think that all the cards in the ancient OTK should be limited at least. with only one magical scientist or one yata garasu or or just one butterfly dagger make this otk should be a lot of times difficult, and those decks should be worst to play. imo. thanks for this videos GG!
Easy fix Catapalut once per turn or Magical Scientist Once per turn otk fixed
do a video series where decks of the past play against today's meta decks.
it would still be pretty bawler in todays meta, unless your oponenat got lucky with a first turn veiler then theyed be screwed

They erratad Turtle to a once per turn effect. This OTK can't happen anymore.
It can, you just have to use the RP01-EN03 version. (The one without the "once per turn")
Not only do we have stronger Fusion Monsters for Scientist to summon, we also have XYZ monsters to summon using the fusions monster Scientist summons. Other than that, I don't think this OTK/FTK is as effective even with stronger fusions because of things like veiler, gorz, maxx c, etc. Also because it looks pretty inconsistent IMO since it needs 3 cards in hand. One of which is banned & even though you can use monsters similar to Gila's effect to summon Turtle.
cannon solider mk-2 summoned instead of catapult turtle scientist summoned scientist norden norden effect gil back tribute gil and norden do this 3 times so 4500 for 3000 now soul charge summon 2 norden bring the third and gil back for the first 2 norden's effects 6000 damage for 5000 lp now activate black pendant on scientist or mk-2 before tributing them both putting the total damage to 8000 for your 5000 if this fails you have 1 card in hand to defend yourself id recomend gorz at this point so you dont get otkd yourself
I think Magical Scientist would actually be MORE broken now, for one, simple reason...xyz. This guy is an xyz BEEEEST! Pay 2000, you get instant rank 6, or rank 5 and you can do that up to 3 times, rank 5's and 6's are scary, 3 rank 5's and 6's in one TURN???? MORE scary!
Should I take it the original text of Catapult Turtle did not mean only 1 monster per turn could be offered? (that's how I read it, but then this OTK wouldn't work) I guess it got an errata, since it now specifically mentioned 'once per turn' (this was March 2014 it seems, took a while XD ).
I don't think Magical Scientist needs to be banned for this particular reason, however, I think it still needs to be banned simply because Turn 0 if your opponent doesn't have Veiler/Maxx C (and even if they do have Maxx C it doesn't matter half the time) you can go Shock Master and Bounzer to completely lock down your opponent.

Imagine summoning this guy and using your fusion monsters to make multiple Vulcasaurus or Pleiades in one turn. That's more than enough reason for it to stay banned.

Magical Scientist is even more insane now that XYZ's exist. If there was any chance of him ever coming back to the meta, it's completely gone now

Yeah, but 7's aren't summonable via Scientist, So unless you are specifically running E-drags or Prophecy, it's not easy to summon them. One card does not bring out 3 rank 7's, 1 card can bring out a ton of rank 6- with ease, it would be even WORSE if it were a Psychic-type monster. (Or DNA surgery is used) because then you could use Brain Research Lab and Telekinetic Charging cell! Thank goodness this card was before Psychics.

Since Catapult turtle got a errata (since you can only use its eff once per turn) and Scientist can easily be stopped by traps and hand traps why not let it come back

Well, that's the thing. It can bring out lv4 fusion monsters. The list of lv4 fusion monsters is as follows:
Darkfire Dragon
Doom Virus Dragon
Elder God Noden (I refuse to use the TCG names)
Elder God N'tss
Doom Virus Dragon cannot be summoned except with The Fang of Critias. N'tss is a contact fusion. This leaves Noden and Darkfire Dragon. Run three of each and that's still six targets for Magical Scientist.
And that's only considering lv4 Fusion monsters. Run lv5s and Magical Scientist becomes a one-card Cyber Dragon Infinity - Use Magical Scientist to summon two Cyber Saurus. Overlay those Cyber Saurus for Cyber Dragon Nova, then summon Infinity on top of that.

As long as Noden is a thing, it's still a one-card instant Rank 4 even if it can only use it's effect once per turn, and we already have Instant Fusion doing that. Having an Instant Fusion on legs that doesn't have its drawbacks is pretty unhealthy for the game.
Scientist would allow for some crazy broken xyz plays if he ever came back.

As long as last will stays on the Ban-List there is no reason to keep Magical Scientist banned, he should at least been set at 1...
But don't get me wrong, he should be limited for sure, because of the low cost fusion monsters that you could possibly use for many other combos excluding the catapult turtle
If you get him out at all, from anything, you can basically immediately shit your entire extra deck onto the table.
"Effect Veiler" can stop "Magical Scientist".
Or you could just get those rank 5/6 into 3 gaia dragons with 1 more fusion monster for 8000+ otk all the same. Actually scientist has 300 atk so 8100 exact with just the gaias

Some people think if they banned Catapult Turtle and unbanned Magical Scientist it wouldn't be broken but yeah it would be because of Xyz and synchro
Cause when you summon the monsters they can't attack and you summoned magical scientist, and the monster gets destroyed at the end of the turn so I figured why use it.
Stay band. The thing about OTK cards is that no matter what we have to counter it it all comes down to, in some case if not most, who goes first.

Today....it would not win or even work...decks would have to many answers and counters...but I think that it still leaves the possibility of a duelist losing their own lifepoints to zero which konami seems to ban every card that gives you the possibility of KOing yourself

Magical scientist should always remain on forbidden list. There are so many ridiculous fusions you can bring out now with it's effect now a days that it should just be trapped in the forbidden zone forever.

I think Premature Burial doesn't need to be banned anymore. I mean, mostly they banned it because of Giant Trunade. Since Trunade is now banned I think they should put it back, maybe been limited. What do you think GalacticGod?

card effect is only good for level 6 or lower so i dont think itd apply to ranks and xyz

You can chose to activate it at any time.

cannon soldier only does 500 per card unlike turtle which would be launching half of the attack of the tributed monster which is averagely gonna be over 1000 damage
Easy enough to stop. Gallis OTK is allowed too, right? Still, since you'll most likely need Last Will, which is pretty broken these days, it can't come back. You can substitute it though. Scientist himself wouldn't be such a prob, I guess.
