Top level yu gi oh was always a mess held together by duct tape and prayers, always one good card away from spiraling into FTK city. And TBH, i think most player woukdn't want it any other way.

Scientist is one of those cards that’s only gotten more broken since its banning.
There’s still a possible ftk with it. It’s much less consistent though. But it can basically summon any extra deck monster you want if you have enough lifepoints.
Exactly, it’d make Sea Monster of Theseus decks Tier 0.
Didn’t they have to ban it in the progression series because it was getting too wild

when yugi and joey faced the big 5, crumpet used the same combo with playing legendary ocean and summoning catapault turtle at ease. smart thinking playing those field spells
Funny how they gave Crump the most sympathetic backstory of the big 5 members in the anime to balance him being among other things. A pervert.
I’m surprised when they decided to destroy the Scientist Deck, Last Will was kept at 3. I would love to see the story of Last Will’s competitive history.
Believe me, it was only ever used in bs decks. Activate Last Will, normal summon Exiled Force, priority use Exiled Force, Last Will for Cyber Stein is just one example.
It also works with Rescue Cat. It can trigger off of Cat AND it can summon Cat. Nothing strong working with Rescue Cat is ever a good sign.

I remember when this came out. I actually splashed (pun intended) magical scientist into my water deck back then. At the time chaos was still very strong and my deck could hold its own and even win several tournaments. My thought process was I already had a solid deck. Scientist just gave me another arrow in my quiver. Unlike the traditional magical scientist deck which went all in on the ftk. It was too gimmicky and unreliable percentage wise. I was already running mother grizzly in my deck so it was as simple as adding 1 scientist and 1 catapult turtle. As long as they attacked a grizzly I could special summon turtle and normal summon scientist easy enough on my turn.

Magical Scientist really is something else. Lmao.. as recent as Alex CIMOOOOOOOO's Progression Series Season 1, Scientist was too damn strong and both Cimo and Gage both agreed to ban it. XD

magical scientist is a good example of the difference between causal classic yugioh and competive casual yugioh. classic yugoh was prone to creating horrible to play against decks due to the questionable cards printed by an easier to make mistake
To be fair modern ygo is literally about moving from one broken generic extra deck monster to the next. Has been since 2014/15
There's no way Magical Scientist can come back without an errata.
After watching the Chaos Draft, I can see why.
Unironically sea monster of theseus would be the most broken card in yugioh history if magical scientist was back

Re; initial discovery in Japan, that's right... IIRC It was a guy called Edo Hrzic who did translations and JPN meta reports that kinda broke news of it in the western world. If you were super online you had a huge advantage in the first few weeks after the release of the set.

I'll never forget Magical Scientist FTK! Its the main reason I, and many duelist at the time, mained Ring of Destruction and Barrel Behind the Door! Now, admittedly, I did run a mini Magical Scientist engine to run Dark Flare with Mirage Knight to get over huge obstacles my opponent threw at me. Not a huge game changer, but enough to get by!
I remember winning a tournament with Magical scientist and Catapult Turtle combo back in the day. Now days you can negate magical scienctist with Effect Veiler or Infinite Impermanence
Even without the FTK, Scientist is still beyond broken. Another combo involves him, Spirit Reaper, Creature Swap and Dark Flare Knight. Swap over Reaper, summon Scientist and proceed the smack the shit out Reaper woth three Dark Flare Knights and your opponent's Monster. That's a minimum of 5800 worth damage.
Another tine I remember bringing out Giltia the D. Knight, Morphing him into another one and boom got the Light I needed to bring out BLS.
Once he does his damage, just Morph him into TER.
Cant believe the first magical scientist ftk was buildable on the month and year i was born lmao

I'm so happy Sanwitch got a shiny reprint GotP2; I loved Catapult Turtle even before Scientist came out, and my favorite monster to launch with the Scientist combo was Sanwitch. It was all just too funny!
The only way that Scientist could come back is if they gave him a HOPT and even that it's still too good because he can be a one card Synchro/XYZ/Link summon.
@@Gymantis You use it as a starter. Like Magical Scientist and pop out one of the Fusion Tuner monsters, and boom. 1 card Halq.

Not if you made its effect once per turn then you can only go into a link 2
With a HOPT the card would absolutely be fine. It would just be an Instant Fusion as a Normal Summon. That is good but not broken at all.

all konami had to do was creating a rule that dont allow FTK, simple as that, no shenanigans of banning multiple specific cards or counter hand traps/effects to specific combos.
That scene @ 13:51 where Magical Scientist attacks Zane for game is funny.

Every deck that spams negates or sets a ton of floodgates beg to differ.

Which is basically every single deck in the game. And the few that are not are so overly convoluted it literally times you out via multiple 10 minute combos.

Nah as a kid I hella remembered going against a Morphing Jar deck. I don’t know how that man pulled it off but he continuously managed to mill my deck to -1 cards😭
For all the people that say a once per turn would be TOO harsh, here is an alternative:
You can only special summon Fusion monsters from the Extra deck the turn you use the effect
Your opponent takes no damage that turn.
No FTKs or super combos possible anymore. Still great to break boards going second in fusion-dedicated decks.

LMAO. I remember that. The kids sitting there watching himself get OTKd and the judge is just explaining to him how he sat down to play a game and didn't get to have any fun.
Fun fact. Despite Kaiba's most powerful monster being Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, he has never technically won a duel with it.
-Kaiba vs. Yugi 2 (Duelist Kingdom): Kaiba would have lost is Yugi didn't surrender
-Kaiba/Yugi vs. Noa: Yugi took over the duel, who defused blue eyes Ultimate Dragon to win the duel
-Kaibaman vs. Jaden: Again, defusion was used to win the duel
-Kaiba vs. Atem (D.S.o.D): It's a hologram.

The best FTK was the second rendition of the OCG Exodia deck. It ran two copies of every piece of Exodia, three copies of Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity. And Sangan/Witch were both broken on release. They gave you their search if they just went to the graveyard from anywhere. So you would discard Sangan or Witch using Graceful Charity, letting you draw 3 cards and get a free piece of Exodia.
The OCG Exodia deck was actually the deck that caused the very first banlist. It was genuinely impossible to beat the deck.
Danger Dark World FTK obviously.
In the TCG, probably Frog or Pendulum FTK, because they could win even without FTKing

In Yugioh Ultimate master duel 2006 Last Will effect will trigger after you end your turn. Also the game is well known for "decking" and "cheating" you.
Edit: My ass is so stupid and low IQ. You are suppose to click on your deck after you met all of the Last Will's effect. I originally thought you wait till THE END OF YOUR TURN.
Also when the AI uses Last Will they get to special summon at the end of their turn regardless if they did or met the requirement.
I remember I got magical scientist in a booster pack. I thought it was shit, and apparently so did my friends cuz nobody wanted to trade 😂😂.

Apparently that card is oddly popular in current Goat because of a deck only slightly less degenerate in Panda Burn, a deck who basically stuns you with level limit and Ojamas while beating you with the piercing panda with more attack than Blue-Eyes, who is not affected by level limit, and burning you with just desserts, barrel and similar burn traps.
